The Management of VIP Jeoun has announced that one of its coaches caught fire.
According to the management of VIP, the coach caught fire while waiting to undertake a scheduled trip from Abuakwa in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality to Accra.
They disclosed that the incident occurred on Saturday, August 15, with no casualties recorded, revealing that. passengers were on board.
In a statement issued by VIP read, “VIP JEOUN coach, GT 6770-18 catches fire whilst waiting to undertake a scheduled trip from Abuakwa, in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality, to Accra. There were no casualties as no one was on board.
Conductor Kwaku Apai, reported seeing smoke from the stationary coach at about 6:45 pm and rushed to switch off the power supply system to the coach. He subsequently informed the Station Supervisor, who accordingly called in the Fire Service.
The coach was waiting nearby and would have moved at 9:30 pm to scale to start loading and boarding.
A relieving coach has been positioned as the relevant authorities help unravel the cause of the fire and subsequent removal of the debris. VIP JEOUN is committed to safe and comfortable travel”.
In other news, some weeks ago, management of VIP JEOUN Transport Company Limited, in a press statement, announced that two of their coaches were attacked by armed robbers in separate incidents on major highways in Ghana.
According to the management of VIP, one of the buses was attacked in the late hours of Wednesday, July 30, 2026, and another in the early hours of Thursday, July 31.
The VIP statement revealed that the first attack occurred at approximately 11:00 p.m. on the Accra-Kumasi Highway; armed robbers used a vehicle to block the highway and carried out a robbery operation.
Five people, including a driver and his mate, sustained gunshot injuries following the armed robbery attack on a VIP Jeoun coach.
The statement issued by management of VIP JEOUN Transport Company Limited read, “At 23:00 hours GMT, on the Accra-Kumasi Highway, a section between Apedwa Junction via Nkronso, Akooko and Akyem Asafo, armed robbers used a car to block the highway and engaged in banditry. Three coaches were caught up in the blockade. The robbers shot at one coach en route from Accra to Sunyani repeatedly, with the driver, mate, and three passengers sustaining injuries. The driver has since been transferred to the 37 Military Hospital. Police officers from Suhum, in the Eastern South Region, successfully repelled the robbers, cleared, and re-opened the highway”.
The Second Incident:
Armed robbers attacked another VIP JEOUN coach at Potrikrom, on the Kumasi to Sunyani Highway, at around 01:00 hours GMT, The robbers shot at and damaged the coach’s windshield, but the armed escort repelled the attack. No passenger suffered any injury. Again, a police patrol Team arrived at the scene.
