A video has surfaced of some Trotro passengers and passersby rescuing a driver near the Association Traffic Light on Liberation Road in Accra on Monday, July 6, 2026, after his vehicle somersaulted.
According to reports, the Mitsubishi driver lost control and somersaulted his vehicle while attempting to avoid an Okada rider who veered into his lane.
In the viral video, the driver was trapped inside the vehicle until passengers and drivers of commercial vehicles succeeded in overturning the vehicle, allowing the driver to escape safely.
The viral video showed passengers working together to overturn the vehicle so the driver could be rescued, pushing the car onto its side, enabling the driver to come out unhurt.
The video shared by TV3 on X was captioned, “This morning, near the Association Traffic Light on Liberation Road, a Mitsubishi driver attempting to avoid an Okada rider who veered into his lane somersaulted his vehicle.
The driver was trapped until passengers and drivers from commercial vehicles intervened to flip the car back over, allowing him to escape safely.”
Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have reacted to the video saying, “And these riders have the nerve to argue bout the license law that was implemented. Please charge them oo. Make sure unless they have that license they don’t even try to attempt such a fate. The number of close calls I’ve had myself on my own is only God, chale”.
A netizen added, “This happened to me just yesterday at Darkuman-Dansoman junction. This rider had left his lane and was facing the opposite direction(middle lane ) cos the lane heading to First Light had traffic. I nearly caused a miscarriage for my client cos I had to swing the steering wheel.
One X user added, “These okada riders the less said about them, the better. The recklessness and indiscipline on the road is just appalling”.
“Reason I don’t give a fuvk about Okada riders: they don’t know anything about rules in riding bikes; they’re always in a hurry.
What does the law say about them?”, a netizen added.
“If you talk about the reckless driving, you will get one foolish person who will tell you they are trying to survive”, an X user added.
One last X user added, “The ground was wet, and he tried ‘to avoid’ and ‘veered into’.
Gosh, the ground is slippery; you cannot try to avoid anything; you need to stop or hit whatever is ahead”.
