Sally Benson allegedly beaten to death

A 48-year-old businessman, Francis Arthur, is in the grips of the Ghana Police Service in Kumasi for allegedly beating his girlfriend, Sally Benson to death.

Reports suggest the incident occurred on April 14, 2026, at Ayigya-Maxima.

The information gathered suggests that the popular beautician and entrepreneur in the city had gone to Arthur’s residence with a female friend after receiving a tip-off that another woman had visited him.

The report by OtecFMghana read, “Chief Inspector Samuel Agyare explained that “during a confrontation between the two, the suspect allegedly assaulted the deceased multiple times.”

Benson is said to have collapsed during the altercation.

Police further indicated that Arthur allegedly transported Benson in her own vehicle to the KNUST Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The suspect was arraigned before Her Worship Hilda Esther Wryter at the Asokore Mampong District Court on Tuesday and was remanded into custody.

He is expected to reappear on May 8, 2026. Family members of the deceased were present in court”.

Sally Benson, owner of Sally’s Cosmetics Studio and African’s Special Pub in Asokwa, father, Apostle Gabriel Oppong, speaking, recounted, “Sally’s friend has made us understand everything. It’s Francis Arthur, a boyfriend whom I personally do not know. Sally got information that another lady had visited him, so she went there.

“They waited because he wasn’t around. When he finally came, and she confronted him, it led to a heated argument. According to the girl, the man beat Sally until she fell. They poured water on her and rushed her to Tech Hospital, but upon arrival, they said she had already died. Just like that, you’ve killed my daughter.”

“I want justice. We are in a nation governed by law, and we do not take the law into our own hands. I believe the law has a way of dealing with such cases, and that is what I want for my daughter and the family,” he said.

He added: “She is too young… May the government of Ghana make the laws work for us. You can’t kill my daughter. Her mother is late, and she is the only daughter. How? May justice prevail.”

In the meantime, Sally Benson’s body has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

In other news, A Fetish priest identified as Horlali Alatusa has been busted for allegedly murdering a woman believed to be his girlfriend.

Reports suggest the heinous crime occurred in Bentum in the Awutu Senya District of the Central Region.

According to reports, the Fetish priest was arrested following a complaint from another farmer about a terrible stench coming from his farmland.

The information gathered from citinews read, “Even though some members of the community marched the suspect to the farm on Tuesday, March 10, they could not find the body of the deceased after digging a trench that was initially dug by the suspect.

However, the residents reported the matter to the police after sighting some clots of blood in the area that was dug.

Upon further interrogation, the suspect confessed to the police and led a team of officers to where he had kept the body of the deceased”.

Reports suggest the remains of the unidentified woman had her head, both legs and womanhood mutilated.

Also, community members have alleged that the murder was committed for ritual purposes since the suspect, Spiritualist Horlali, is well known to have inherited his father’s deities.

Some eyewitnesses detailed that they had only seen the deceased with the suspect in the community last Sunday, but could not see her again, which raised their suspicions of her possible murder.

The irate members of the community, following the discovery of the dead body, have since demolished the suspect’s residence.
