Paul Yandoh, a close associate of jailed Chairman Wontumi, has been defeated in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Ashanti Regional Secretary contest.
Mr Yandoh placed third in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Ashanti Regional Secretary contest.
Paul Yandoh polled 105 votes in the contest. Francis Adomako won the race with 492 votes, while Michael Amoah Awuku placed second with 331 votes.
Paul Yandoh’s candidacy attracted attention in the build-up to the election, after Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene, a member of the NDC, endorsed and campaigned for him on social media.
Yandoh’s defeat rules him out of the new Ashanti Regional executive team, having opted to leave the Communications Officer position he previously held to contest the secretaryship.
The election forms part of the NPP’s reorganisation as the party seeks to strengthen its structures and prepare for the 2028 general elections.

The NPP regional contest saw. popular names like Odeneho Kwaku Appiah aka COKA, Dr Bernard Okoe-Boye and Abronye DC winning their respective regional contest.
