According to him, personnel have been stationed at Klagon, Tse Addo, Dzowulu and highly flood-prone communities.

He further disclosed that the team has already rescued several individuals who were stranded in their homes and had reached out for assistance.

Lt Col Amponsah urged residents to contact the operation line on 0244 312 667 for support.

Meanwhile, following the heavy rains that began late on Sunday, June 28, and continued into the morning of Monday, June 29, 2026, commuters, workers, and students have been stranded.

The heavy downpour has triggered flooding in several parts of Accra, leaving major roads submerged, disrupting traffic flow, and stranding commuters.

The downpour, which has lasted for hours, has affected Monday morning rush hour, leaving residents struggling to get to work and school.

Some affected areas include the N1 Highway, Apenkwa towards Tesano, the Accra–Kasoa stretch, Weija, Mallam, Achimota, Spintex, Atomic in Madina, Kaneshie, Darkuman Junction, portions of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, and First Light, Sakaman, Dzorwulu, Circle, Adabraka, Alajo, and surrounding communities, according to residents and road users.

Viral videos circulating on social media show residents trapped in their homes and struggling to move around.

Also, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak has issued a public advisory over the heavy rains that have flooded several parts of the country this morning.

The Interior Ministry statement read, “The Ministry of the Interior advises the general public to exercise extreme caution following the heavy rains and flooding experienced in several parts of the country this morning.

As a precautionary public safety measure, members of the public are advised to remain where they are until conditions improve. Those who are safely at home are urged to stay at home, while those who are at their workplaces or other safe locations should remain there until it is safe to travel. Unnecessary movement should be avoided.

Motorists and pedestrians are strongly advised not to attempt to drive or walk through flooded roads, bridges, or waterways, as floodwaters can rise rapidly and pose significant danger to life and property.

The Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, the Ghana Armed Forces, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and other emergency response services have been deployed to monitor the situation, assist affected persons, manage traffic, and undertake rescue operations where required.

Residents in flood-prone communities are advised to move to higher ground where it is safe to do so and promptly report emergencies or persons in distress to the nearest security agency or emergency response service.

The Ministry urges the public to remain calm, cooperate with the directives of security and emergency personnel, and rely only on official channels for information and updates.

Members of the public in need of emergency assistance or wishing to report persons in distress are encouraged to contact the following emergency services:

* Ghana Police Service: 18555 or 112

* Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS): 192

* National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO): 112

The safety and well-being of the public remain Government’s highest priority. The Ministry will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide further updates as necessary.
