The Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has addressed the comments made by Dr Mary Awusi, CEO of the Ghana Free Zones Authority and a senior National Democratic Congress (NDC) member.

According to Apostle Nyamekye, he holds no grudges, suggesting the situation ultimately brought more attention to the church and its mission.

In a post by TV3 Ghana on X stated, “Following a tearful apology from the Chief of Staff on behalf of the government, Apostle Eric Nyamekye has addressed the comments made by Dr Mary Awusi.

Apostle Nyamekye stated he holds no grudges, suggesting the situation ultimately brought more attention to the church and its mission”.

Also, a news card shared by TV3 read, “I have forgiven her. She has only made our church and myself more popular”.

The development follows Dr Mary Awusi, who begged the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, after her earlier warning.

According to the Free Zones CEO, she retracts and apologises, adding that she sincerely apologises as she is only human.

She asserted that her comments may have offended the church leader, the Church, and the general public and pleaded for forgiveness.

Speaking on Accra FM on Friday, April 24, 2026,  Dr Awusi stated, “I retract and apologise. I have great respect for the man of God, considering his position as Chairman of the Church of Pentecost. In expressing myself, I may have offended him, the Church, and the general public, and for that, I sincerely apologise. I am human,” she stated.

Her earlier remarks come after Apostle Eric Nyamekye highlighted how rampant galamsey and the extensive pollution of water bodies have forced the church to stop river baptisms.

Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, lamented how illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, has hampered traditional water baptism.

According to Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, galamsey activities have hampered traditional water baptism in some mining communities.

He highlighted that the Church of Pentecost have now shifted to synthetic rubber pools in several districts to carry out the ordinance.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, speaking during his State of the Church Address at the 48th General Conference on April 22, 2026, highlighted the persistent destruction of Ghana’s water.

The Chairman of the Church of Pentecost stated, “The extensive pollution of water bodies due to illegal mining has hampered traditional water baptism in some mining communities, necessitating a shift to synthetic rubber pools in several districts to carry out the ordinance,” he stated.

According to Dr Mary Awusi, Apostle Eric Nyamekye’s statement is a highly political statement.

She warned that if the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost descends to that level again, they will deal with him as a politician.

Speaking in an interview on Accra FM on April 23, 2026, Dr Mary Awusi stated, “He is a man of God, so we will forgive him, but next time he shouldn’t come so low to that level.

Next time, when he stoops so low and tries to do politics, they will deal with him as a politician. I’ve shown him respect this time as a man of God, but he should know that the statement he made is a highly political statement”.

She further questioned Apostle Eric Nyamekye’s consistency of criticisms about galamsey across different political administrations.

She added, “When Nana Addo was President, if you went to the mining communities, the rivers were like mud. At that time, was he in Ghana or wasn’t he in Ghana? Did he see that or did he not see how the rivers were then?”

“So as a pastor, if the truth is there and you wouldn’t say it, and instead put aside your pastoral duties and put on a political lens to talk, then next time we will treat him as a politician,” she added.

According to Bright Simons, he is very disappointed in the Kubala King for failing to defend his honour in Scotland.

In a shared on X Bright Simons jokingly wrote, “I am very disappointed in King Atehene of the expanding kingdom of Kubala.

He assembled his nobles, marched on Scotland, and colonised the woods for the glory of Africa.

Then some killjoys brought in the Police. What is the business of the police in a geopolitical matter anyway? 🤷🏾‍♂️

So King Atehene was deported back to Ghana by the po-faced Police.

Clearly, His Majesty has been wronged.

But instead of assembling forces to avenge his honour in Scotland, he has decided instead to come and compete with our Kings and Queens in Ghana for the small glory they are enjoying.

Bright Simons’ comments come on the heels of Kofi Agyemang Offeh, a self-styled Kubala King, who has returned to Ghana following his deportation from Scotland.

According to the self-styled Kubala king, he has come to Ghana to take over, adding that everywhere he goes, he must take dominion and establish his throne.

Shortly after he arrived at the Accra International Airport on April 22, the Kubala king spoke in an interview with Kofi TV.

He stated, “I have come to take over Ghana because I am the King of Kubala. Everywhere I land, I take dominion; where I establish my throne, so the time has come. Everyone will bow before me, whether chiefs, politicians or even the police are going to serve me”.

“Ghana is about to change. A new wave from the Kingdom of Kubala. All the police are going to serve me, all the chiefs are going to bow before me. If you have a president, he has to come and kneel before me”, he added.

It will be recalled that the self-styled King of an African tribe, Kofi Offeh, who had been camping in a woodland area in the Scottish Borders, has broken his silence after his arrest together with his handmaiden.

Offeh and Kaura Taylor, both linked to the so-called Kingdom of Kubala, were taken into custody around 8 a.m. yesterday, October 2, during a raid involving police, sheriff officers, and immigration authorities.

According to reports, Kofi Offeh was arrested for overstaying his visa and is likely to be deported.

However, the reason for Taylor’s arrest remains unclear. Jean Gasho, who identifies as Queen Nandi, was also seen being taken away.

Before his arrest and eviction, Kofi Offeh stated, “All nations belong to the kingdom of Kubala. All lands belong to the Kingdom of Kubala, for it was given to us by the creator of the heavens and the earth, and we dwell safely wherever we choose to be.

“Our ways are the ways of the creator, not us. If the creator wants us to move or leave this space because we are done with what we need to do, we shall leave. That will not come from man, for man has got no power over the Kingdom of Kubala,” Offeh said.

In a post shared on X stated, “The assailant, Cole Allen, who carried out the assassination attempt on Trump:

• According to records, made a $25 donation to U.S. presidential candidate Kamala Harris’s election campaign in 2024,

• Was also learned to be a game developer”.

WTOP News shared more details, stating, “A suspect is in custody following a shooting outside the White House correspondents’ dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel on Saturday, which led to the evacuation of President Donald Trump and attendees.

The man suspected of opening fire at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on Saturday night worked as a teacher and video game developer from Southern California, according to public records, reported CNN.

Cole Tomas Allen, 31, who lives in the Los Angeles suburb of Torrance, has been identified by law enforcement as the armed man subdued near the dinner where President Trump and other officials had gathered, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer reports that the shooting occurred on the floor above where the dinner was being held. Blitzer said he was very close to the gunman and that a police officer threw him to the ground in an effort to protect him.

“A guy with a very, very serious weapon starts shooting. I happened to be a few feet away from him,” Blitzer said, adding that the shooter was shooting randomly.

“I’m guessing I heard at least half a dozen gunshots. … They were so loud,” he said.

Authorities said the shooter fired shots inside the hotel before being apprehended by the Secret Service.

“Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

The president gave additional details about the shooter at a press conference at the White House”.

United States President Donald Trump has survived yet another assassination attempt following a White House shooting.

On Saturday evening, Trump was rushed out of the Washington Hilton hotel after gunshots were heard outside the ballroom where the president and the first lady had been seated.

Donald Trump, the First Lady and his Cabinet were unharmed.

Al Jazeera, in a news report, stated, “In a news conference after the incident, Trump said a man had charged a security checkpoint, armed with multiple weapons, and was ‘taken down’ by the Secret Service.

Trump condemned the suspect as a “thug” who had attacked the US Constitution.

The president said that one Secret Service officer was shot, but his life was saved by his bulletproof vest.

“As you know, this is not the first time in the past couple of years that our republic has been attacked by a would-be assassin who sought to kill,” Trump said.

“In light of this evening’s events, I ask that all Americans recommit with their hearts in resolving our difference peacefully,” Trump said.

The Secret Service said the shooting had occurred at a “screening area” and that one individual was in custody.

“The condition of those involved is not yet known, and law enforcement is actively assessing the situation,” the agency said.

Shortly before his news conference, Trump posted images on Truth Social appearing to show the suspect face down on the ground while being restrained by law enforcement.

Footage from the scene showed Trump and attendees taking cover behind their table after shots rang out, as people yelled “Get down!” and “Stay down!”

Trump was then rushed away from the scene by Secret Service agents, after which heavily armed agents surrounded the table.

Al Jazeera producer Chris Sheridan said he heard what he believed to be five gunshots outside the ballroom.

“We could smell the powder. We immediately dove to the ground. It was directly behind me,” Sheridan said.

“I couldn’t tell how many feet away, but it was definitely behind the doors to the entrance to the ballroom.”

Sheridan said there was a very heavy police presence around the hotel.

“They are trying to clear the area at the moment,” he said.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum expressed her relief that Trump and the first lady were unharmed.

“We send our respect,” she said in a post on X. “Violence should never be the way.”

Trump has been targeted in multiple assassination attempts, including a near-miss shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, in 2024.

Thomas Crooks fired eight shots at Trump during a campaign rally event, killing one bystander and lightly wounding the then-candidate’s right ear, before being shot dead by the Secret Service.

The High Court in Accra has thrown out a defamation suit filed by former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta against broadcaster Blessed Godsbrain Smart, commonly known as Captain Smart, demanding GH¢10 million.

The defamation stems from Captain Smart alleging that Ken Ofori-Atta had taken 10% of the IMF money and also claiming that, with every loan Ghana takes, the former Finance Minister was taking 10%.

According to the High Court, the plaintiff had repeatedly failed to pursue the case actively, with the case adjourned about eighteen times.

The Law Platform sharing more details of the case in a news article stated, “The High Court by a ruling dated Tuesday, the 21st day of April, 2026 reported as KEN OFORI-ATTAH v. BLESSED GODSBRAIN SMART & ANOR [TLP-HC-2026-11] on The Law Platform library has struck out for want of prosecution the writ filed by the former finance minister of Ghana, Mr. Ken Ofori Atta against the famous broadcaster, Mr. Blessed Godsbrain Smart.

The High Court was presided over by the Court of Appeal Justice performing additional duties of a High Court Judge, H/L Justice Francis Obiri JA.

In the ruling of the Court, the plea for an adjournment of proceedings in the absence of Mr Ofori Atta by the learned Bright Okyere-Adjekum, Counsel for the Plaintiff, former Finance Minister, was denied.

The Defamatory statement

Per the writ of Mr Ken Ofori Atta, now struck out for a lull in prosecution, he claims the following words of Mr Smart: “Are you aware that Ken Ofori Atta has taken his 10% of the IMF money?”, “Every loan we take he takes 10%”, authored on his television program run by the second Defendant, Media General, are “palpably false, absolutely fabricated…also deliberately calculated to disparage” him.

According to Justice Obiri in his commentary on the conduct of the Plaintiff, who is now US-based and battling extradition and deportation, “Per the records before the Court, the case is a part-heard. It has been adjourned about eighteen times. However, the Plaintiff has appeared in court only three times. The last time the Plaintiff appeared in court was on 20th May 2024.

In reaching his order for the striking of the matter without cost to the Defendants, Justice Obiri delivered himself in reliance on natural justice principles and Order 36 Rule 1 (2) (b) of C.I 47 in the following words, “Under Order 36 Rule 1 (2) (b) of C. I 47, where an action is called for hearing or continuation, and the Plaintiff fails to attend Court, the Court can dismiss the action or strike it out for want of prosecution.”

Richard Nii Armah Quaye, commonly known as RNAQ, a Ghanaian businessman, has said he is unfazed by criticism and backlash surrounding his wealth and his personal life.

According to RNAQ, good people do not lack enemies, adding that he expected people to talk about him.

Speaking on The Delay Show, RNAQ spoke about the backlash and scrutiny he has faced on social media, saying, “I sleep. I’m not bothered in any way. One of my principles is that good people do not lack enemies, and all winners have haters. I’ve always expected people to talk about me.”

He further asserted that his mentor, prominent businessman Osei Kwame Despite advice him that God doesn’t give wealth to anybody who cannot carry it.

“He told me that God doesn’t give wealth to anybody who cannot carry it,” Quaye said. “The fact that I’ve been given this much means I’m capable of carrying it, so I should be bold and expect whatever comes.”

Richard Nii Armah Quaye further admitted that the recent brouhaha surrounding his divorce has affected his family, particularly his mother.

RNAQ added, “She’s my only concern,” he said. “I’m her only son, and we’re very close. She knows everything about me—the truths and the lies people tell.”

“She’s not too bothered about the things people say about me,” he said. “She’s worried about the fact that I may not be able to handle the ferocious lies that are being perpetrated against me. I think that’s her worry.”

“So, I’m okay; I’m calm,” he said.

Also, Richard Nii Armah Quaye has finally broken his silence over the brouhaha surrounding his divorce with her ex-wife, Joana Quaye.

According to RNAQ, 99% of the things being thrown out in the media and on social media aren’t true.

Speaking in an interview with Delay, circulating on social media on April 24, 2026, Richard Nii Armah Quaye stated, “I was working before I married her. I started my business before I married her. I started making money before I went to marry her, and I funded our wedding. If I didn’t have money, I couldn’t have married her, because we had a very luxurious wedding.

I had money before marrying her. I spent a lot of money marrying her. All the things you have heard, 99% of it isn’t true,” Nii Armah said.

Meanwhile, Bishop Kwabena Boakye Asiamah, the founder of the Ajagurajah Movement, has claimed Richard Nii Armah Quaye (RNAQ), a Ghanaian business mogul, may not be clean.

Ajagurajah alleged that RNAQ’s wealth might be tied to spiritual backing, citing the red ring often seen on RNAQ’s finger in photos to argue his case.

In a post on X, a netizen sharing the news wrote, “Ajagurajah has suggested that businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye’s wealth may not be clean, adding there could be a spiritual backing to it.

In a TikTok video, he pointed to a red ring often seen on RNAQ’s finger in photos and used it to support his view.

He said that for someone around 40 years old to have built such wealth, there must be something beyond what people see, especially after, as he claimed, checks by the Ghana Revenue Authority and EOCO did not find anything wrong with his source of income.

“The GRA, EOCO, and others have checked his source of wealth and found nothing dubious.

“A 40-year-old person has managed to become so rich, and you think there is nothing behind his wealth? Wise up!

“Let me show you something. He does not go anywhere without his ring, watch it well,” he said.

He also dismissed suggestions that the ring is just for fashion, saying people should pay attention to what he is explaining.

Ajagurajah later showed a similar ring and said the red stone in it has a spiritual meaning”.

SAD – UMaT student commits suicide after he was duped

Reports suggest a student of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) has tragically taken his own life.

According to the reports,  the UMaT student sent GH¢16,500 to an individual abroad for the purchase of mobile phones intended for resale in Ghana; however, he was duped by the recipient.

A netizen identified as KAY-KAY, who shared the news on X, wrote, “A student of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) has tragically taken his own life amid severe financial distress.

Reports indicate that the student had sent approximately GH¢16,500 to an individual abroad for the purchase of mobile phones intended for resale in Ghana. However, the recipient allegedly deceived him and misappropriated the funds.

Desperate to recover the loss and settle his debts, the student reportedly borrowed money from a close associate and placed it on betting platforms, hoping to win back the amount. He suffered further losses on the popular Aviator game, which only deepened his financial crisis.

Sources say his parents were informed of the situation but were unable to provide the necessary financial assistance.

Overwhelmed by the mounting pressure and emotional burden, the young man left behind suicide notes before ending his life”.

Ghanaians on X reacting to the tragic news stated, “16500 is huge in terms of his current state as a student, but as compared to his age, 16500 is nowhere near how he could have made after this business lesson. Hmm.. he has taken so much away”.

“16,500 debt? If man were in my shoes, nka he would’ve burnt his whole family”, a netizen added.

“Killing urself over 16000 is not worth it…..16000 is no money”, one X user added.

In related news, some months ago, Godfred Akomaning, commonly known as ‘Immortal Legend,’ a Level 400 Petroleum Engineering student at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), died by suicide.

According to reports, the Level 400 UENR student commits suicide after ingesting weedicide.

Reports gathered from the six-page memoir Godfred left behind, he explained that he had been struggling with serious mental health issues long before arriving at university.

In a post shared by ASKghmedia, they wrote, “Godfred Akomaning, aka ‘Immortal Legend,’ a Level 400 Petroleum Engineering student at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and a national debate champion at the 2025 Ghana Universities Debate Championship, has died by suicide after ingesting weedicide.

In a six-page memoir he left behind, Godfred explained that he had been struggling with serious mental health issues long before arriving at university.

None of his friends was aware of his struggles, and his family offered no meaningful support. As a result, his condition steadily worsened until it finally overwhelmed him, leading to this tragic decision”.

According to Christiana Koch, her study abroad in Ghana was the most perspective-gaining and life-changing experience.

Speaking in a viral video, NASA astronaut Christina Koch stated, “My study abroad, I studied abroad in Ghana. That was by far the most perspective-gaining and life-changing experience of my entire life, right after I was going to space.”

Christina Koch, who once studied at the University of Ghana as an international student, hoisted the Ghanaian flag in space.

Christina Koch was part of the crew that orbited the Moon under Artemis II.

Nearly three decades ago (1999), Christina Koch undertook a study-abroad programme at the University of Ghana while pursuing her undergraduate studies in the United States.

In a post shared on X in 2019, Christina Koch stated, “20 years ago, I was studying abroad at the @UnivofGh. Like spaceflight, it was a positive, life-changing, perspective-deepening experience. The University of Ghana has celebrated astronaut Christina Koch, the only woman on the four-person Artemis II crew, which orbited the Moon.

The mission’s spacecraft, the Orion spacecraft, broke the record for human spaceflight distance on Monday, surpassing the 1970 Apollo 13 mission record of 248,655 miles (400,000km).

The four astronauts on NASA’s Artemis II mission are now returning to Earth after a lunar fly-by that took them farther from Earth than any humans before”.

“Artemis II is designed as a critical test mission with humans on board, aimed at testing Orion’s life-support and safety systems, evaluating deep-space navigation and communication systems, and ensuring astronauts can safely travel to and from the Moon.

The mission also sets the stage for Artemis III, which aims to land humans on the lunar surface. Historic milestones are expected, including sending the first woman and the first person of African descent on a lunar mission,” the report stated.

Meanwhile, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has announced that Ghana will formally honour American astronaut Christina Hammock Koch following her historic Artemis II mission.

Ablakwa, in a post on X on April 12, 2026, stated, “Congratulations to the Artemis II astronauts for the scientifically groundbreaking and exceedingly inspiring journey. For undertaking the farthest ever journey away from Earth and returning safely, they have excellently demonstrated that there can be no boundaries to human ingenuity and courage.

I can confirm that the Government of Ghana has conveyed through diplomatic channels its intention at a mutually agreed time for President Mahama to, on behalf of the people of Ghana, honour the only female astronaut, Christina Hammock Koch, who studied at the University of Ghana and proudly celebrates her association with Ghana”.

My 11-year-old daughter was killed, a year later, no justice has been served – Atinka TV presenter laments

Nana Afia Serwaa, a television personality and news anchor at Atinka TV , in a viral video, is pleading with the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to ensure justice for her 11-year-old daughter, who was killed in an accident.

According to Nana Afia Serwaa, her daughter died in an accident on 4th May 2025, and almost a year later, the case, now with the Abuakwa Divisional Police Command, has yielded no meaningful outcome.

She disclosed that, to her dismay, the culprit continues to walk freely, behaving as if nothing happened.

Speaking in a viral video shared on X, the Atinka TV presenter stated, “My name is Nana Afia Serwaa, and I am making a humble appeal to the IGP and the CID boss. On May 4, 2025, my 11-year-old daughter was knocked down by a vehicle and died on the spot. The case was reported to the Abuakwa Divisional Police Command, but almost a year later, no justice has been served”.

“I have followed up on the case several times and went to the police to ask about the delay. I was informed by the CID that the person responsible is still walking free and is often seen driving around. I was also told that when the police attempt to stop him, he refuses and drives away,” she alleged.

He added, “I believe the IGP is a man of his word and stands for justice. I also believe Lydia Donkor, as a mother, will understand my pain. As a single mother, I have lost my only child in a car accident, and there has been no justice to date”.

“I have paid the required fees and done everything expected of me, yet there has been no progress on the case,” she appealed.

Some Ghanaians reacting to her video stated, “He only go to jail if he has no legal documents covering himself and the vehicle involved”.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, has announced that the Government of Ghana is relocating Mr Emmanuel Asamoah, who came after an unwarranted xenophobic attack.

According to Ablakwa, the Ghanaian man was legally living in South Africa.

In a post on X, Ablakwa wrote, “ As I announced on TV3 a while ago, the Government of Ghana is relocating Mr Emmanuel Asamoah, the Ghanaian legally living in South Africa, who came under unwarranted xenophobic attack from a fringe vigilante group.

I have spoken to Mr Asamoah directly, and he is doing well despite the incessant threats.

We are taking him out of South Africa.

I wish to also commend the Government of South Africa for their reassuring response, particularly as conveyed in the press statement issued by the Hon. Minister for Police, Prof Firoz Cachalia.

We shall continue to make the protection of Ghanaians at home and abroad our utmost priority. No Ghanaian will be abandoned in harm’s way.

Earlier, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, told the acting South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Thando Dalamba, to urge his government to take decisive action to protect Ghanaians and other Africans living in South Africa.

According to Abklakwa, at the meeting, he conveyed the Government of Ghana’s strong condemnation of the continuous xenophobic attacks on Ghanaians and other Africans living in South Africa.

He further called for investigations to be expedited and all perpetrators to be punished, highlighting that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will communicate other steps we have taken in due course.

In a post shared on X on Thursday, April 23, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa wrote, “Earlier today, I summoned the Acting South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr Thando Dalamba.

At the meeting, I conveyed the Government of Ghana’s strong condemnation of the continuous xenophobic attacks on Ghanaians and other Africans living in South Africa.

We are urging South African authorities to take decisive action in protecting the human rights and dignity of our nationals and all Africans.

Ghana equally expects that the promised investigations be expedited and all perpetrators punished to serve as an adequate deterrence.

The management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has issued a rejoinder to correct misleading reports on alleged rape incidents involving two students.

The University clarifies that the incidents occurred off campus, adding that the suspect is not a member of KNUST Security Services.

According to the KNUST Management, the matter is before the appropriate state authorities.

In a statement issued by KNUST Management on April 24, 2026, it read, “The alleged incidents did not occur on the KNUST campus. They took place off campus in the nearby community of Ayeduase and therefore fall outside the jurisdiction of the University’s internal security operations”.

“The suspect is not a member of KNUST’s Security Services. The individual is a private security guard engaged by the Ayeduase Roman Catholic Primary School and has no affiliation whatsoever with the University’s official security system,” it added.

“The suspect remains in police custody, and the matter is currently before the court,” the statement noted.

“The victims have received initial counselling support, and the University has initiated contact to offer further psychological and medical support,” it said.

The KNUST Management rejoinder comes on the heels of a security guard has been remanded by the Asokore Mampong District Court for allegedly raping two KNUST female students.

The security guard has been identified as Lloyd Kwaku Boateng.

Reports suggest the security guard raped, extorted and intimidated two female students of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST),

The information gathered suggests Lloyd Kwaku Boateng, who works at the Ayeduase Roman Catholic Junior High School, harasses and assaults students who visit the school compound at night.

Reports detailed that on February 13, 2026, Boateng allegedly confronted a 22-year-old student and her boyfriend, accusing them of misconduct and reportedly assaulting the boyfriend, seizing their belongings, and demanding GH₵300.

He allegedly threatened to humiliate her publicly before dragging her into a classroom to rape her.

According to the information gathered two months later, on April 4, 2026, another student, aged 23, reported a similar ordeal with the security guard, who allegedly held her hostage overnight, threatened her with a knife, raped her and forced her to transfer GH₵150 via mobile money.

The guard has also been accused of taking nude photographs of the victim and threatening to release them if she reported the incident.

He was arrested on April 13, 2026, with medical reports confirming physical trauma in both cases.

Boateng has since denied the allegations in his caution statement.

However, Chief Inspector Samuel Agyare, the prosecutor, urged the court to remand the accused while investigations continue.

Hilda Esther Wryter, who presided over the case, adjourned proceedings to May 8, 2026.

Speaking on Friday, April 24, President John Mahama stated, “The pilot phase of the One Million Coders Programme conducted last year enabled the ministry to assess readiness for nationwide rollout. The portal is now open, and more than 100,000 applications have already been processed”.

“This year alone, the Ministry aims to train 300,000 Ghanaians as the programme continues to expand. These are more than numbers; they represent opportunities, employability and national preparedness,” President Mahama stated.

Mahama added, “Youthful potential must be matched by structured opportunity, and that is why education and workforce development are among the core pillars of this strategy. We must equip our people not only to use AI tools but also to build, govern, improve and apply them to solve our national problems”.

According to him, it is a strategic pillar for the reset Ghana agenda.

“It is an intentional move towards building a knowledge-based innovation-driven economy, one where our greatest resource, our people, are equipped to create solutions, generate jobs, and be able to compete globally. At the heart of this initiative is our belief in the Ghanaian youth. We believe in your creativity, your resilience, and your boundless potential. This program is an investment in our youth, an investment in their future as coders, as analysts, as entrepreneurs, and as tech pioneers,” he added.

“Over the next four years, the One Million Coders program will train one million Ghanaians in essential digital skills, from coding and cybersecurity to data analytics and networking. These are not just technical abilities. They are economic passports, pathways to decent jobs, entrepreneurship, and long-term socio-economic inclusion,” he added.

Also, Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Telecel Ghana, has revealed that the company has partnered with the government to provide free coding training to 100,000 young Ghanaians.

According to the Telecel CEO, they have partnered with the Government’s under One Million Coders Programme.

She disclosed that the coding training course normally costs US$50 to obtain a certificate, but Telecel will sponsor all participants for free.

The Hot 93.9FM journalist Sir Ezekiel Opoku Griezmann made this revelation while reacting to the Rev Lawrence Tetteh’s remarks, where he expressed concern in an interview about the increasing number of radio and television stations in Accra that broadcast mainly in Twi rather than Ga.

According to Rev Lawrence Tetteh, it is “absolute nonsense” to establish media stations in Accra and ignore Ga, the indigenous language of the Greater Accra Region.

Rev Lawrence Tetteh argued that the Ga language deserves more recognition and representation, particularly within the city where it originates.

He asserted that making Ga and Dangme languages compulsory in schools would reconnect younger generations to their roots and instil pride and belonging.

The Ga Mantse added, “Teaching Ga and Dangme are not only about culture; it is about creating well-rounded, confident, and high-achieving students.

Mahama added, “Youthful potential must be matched by structured opportunity, and that is why education and workforce development are among the core pillars of this strategy. We must equip our people not only to use AI tools but also to build, govern, improve and apply them to solve our national problems”.

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama, at the launch of the  “One Million Coders” program, described it as more than a fulfilled campaign promise.

According to him, it is a strategic pillar for the reset Ghana agenda.

Speaking at the launch of the programme on April 16, 2025, John Mahama, “The One Million Coders program is not just a fulfilled campaign promise. It is a strategic pillar of our Reset Ghana agenda. Designed to empower Ghanaians with digital skills critical for 21st-century life and work.

“It is an intentional move towards building a knowledge-based innovation-driven economy, one where our greatest resource, our people, are equipped to create solutions, generate jobs, and be able to compete globally. At the heart of this initiative is our belief in the Ghanaian youth. We believe in your creativity, your resilience, and your boundless potential. This program is an investment in our youth, an investment in their future as coders, as analysts, as entrepreneurs, and as tech pioneers,” he added.

“Over the next four years, the One Million Coders program will train one million Ghanaians in essential digital skills, from coding and cybersecurity to data analytics and networking. These are not just technical abilities. They are economic passports, pathways to decent jobs, entrepreneurship, and long-term socio-economic inclusion,” he added.

Also, Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Telecel Ghana, has revealed that the company has partnered with the government to provide free coding training to 100,000 young Ghanaians.

According to the Telecel CEO, they have partnered with the Government’s under One Million Coders Programme.

She disclosed that the coding training course normally costs US$50 to obtain a certificate, but Telecel will sponsor all participants for free.

Meanwhile, Sam Nartey George, the Minister for Communication and Digital Technology, has announced that the registration portal for the One Million Coders Programme is now live.

The Communication urged Ghanaians to take advantage of this opportunity to get “skilled, upskilled, or reskilled”.

Business mogul Richard Nii Armah Quaye, commonly known as RNAQ, has finally broken his silence over the brouhaha surrounding his divorce with her ex-wife, Joana Quaye.

According to RNAQ, 99% of the things being thrown out in the media and on social media aren’t true.

Speaking in a yet-to-be-released interview with Delay, circulating on social media on April 24, 2026, Richard Nii Armah Quaye stated, “I was working before I married her. I started my business before I married her. I started making money before I went to marry her, and I funded our wedding. If I didn’t have money, I couldn’t have married her, because we had a very luxurious wedding.

I had money before marrying her. I spent a lot of money marrying her. All the things you have heard, 99% of it isn’t true,” Nii Armah said.

His comments come after it has been alleged that his ex-wife paused school to support him. 

In related news, Joana Quaye has hired former Attorney General Godfred Dame to appeal against a rather strange judgment of the High Court in Accra.

The High Court granted Mrs Joana Quaye only GHC300,000 out of the well-known vast fortune she built with the rich businessman.

She was married to Richard Nii Armah-Quaye for sixteen (16) years and has three (3) children with.

The information gathered suggests that RNAQ has been locked up in a bitter divorce case with Joana Quaye for the past four years.

The High Court presided over by Justice Kofi Dorgu on 20th January, 2026, in his final orders despite evidence showing that Richard Nii Armah Quaye established his famous company, Quick Credit & Investment Micro-Credit Limited (renamed Bills Micro Credit Limited) with Joana Quaye as shareholders, out of which RNAQ built his wealth and established numerous other companies, the judge granted to the wife only one-third share of a house at Dansoman, GHC300,000 as financial provision and GHC5,000 to be paid by RNAQ each month for the upkeep of all the three children.

Mrs. Quaye seeks from the Court of Appeal two orders from the Court of Appeal which are “an order setting aside the final orders of the judgment dated 20th January, 2026” and “an order granting to her an equitable share of all assets (immovable and movable) acquired during the subsistence of the marriage to RNAQ, including his shares and beneficial interests in all companies set up after the parties got married”.

However, Court documents and videos have surfaced online alleging that Ghanaian business mogul Richard Nii Armah Quaye (RNAQ) allegedly assaulted his ex-wife, Joana Coffie.

The court transcripts detail that in June 2014, Quaye allegedly assaulted his ex-wife shortly after she gave birth to twins.

According to Joana Coffie’s mother, who served as a witness to one of the alleged incidents, she detailed how her daughter was beaten after requesting that her husband transfer ownership of a car he had gifted her following the delivery.

The document read, “One day, I was with the parties’ children when I heard the petitioner crying out from the couple’s bedroom. I rushed to knock on the door, and the respondent came out and said there was no problem. However, upon my persistent questioning as to why the petitioner was crying, the respondent, who had a belt in his hand all that while, stated that he established his business because of his mother and sister, and so if the petitioner misbehaves, he will keep beating her”.

“He added that he had acquired a brand-new car for her, a Jaguar, as appreciation for safely delivering the twins, but the petitioner insisted that he transfer ownership of the car into her name, which generated an argument between them,” she said.

The court document also includes testimony from another witness, identified as Alfred Ankrah.

Alfred Ankrah detailed, “During the course of the couple’s marriage, I witnessed several forms of abuse and domestic violence meted out by the respondent against the petitioner. I have seen the respondent beating her with a belt. I can recall occasions when the respondent attempted to beat the petitioner in my presence, and I had to restrain him.

“On one occasion, the respondent wanted to beat the petitioner because he was angered that she had informed his mother about providing him with start-up capital for Quick Credit,” the statement detailed.

“I noticed that the petitioner had bloodstains in her nostrils, puffy eyes, and a swollen face. The next morning, when I asked what had happened, she tried to cover up for the respondent by saying she had been in a car crash.

“On another occasion, the respondent beat the petitioner severely, even in the presence of his own mother,” the statement expressed.

“…that the marriage was useless and that he would one day divorce her to live a single life because, according to him, marriage was like a prison.”

The Second Deputy Minority Whip, Jerry Ahmed Shaib and MP for Weija-Gbawe, has said President John Mahama, in the opposition campaign, spoke about resetting Ghana, but the results cannot be seen.

According to Jerry Ahmed Shaib, he initially expected a different approach following the president’s return to office, as he expected President Mahama to come back with renewed energy and ready to restore.

He boldly claimed that President Mahama has already failed.

Jerry Ahmed Shaib is quoted to have said, “I even had hope that after the elections, he would come back renewed and ready to restore,” he said.

“What I think is that President Mahama has already failed,” Jerry Ahmed Shaib stated.

“You spoke about resetting, restoring, rebuilding. But we are not seeing the results,” he argued.

“When people speak and are quickly invited or questioned, it raises concerns. We must learn that power is not permanent, and we must not take the Ghanaian people for granted,” Jerry Ahmed Shaib added.

Also, the NPP’s  General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, has accused the John Mahama government of arbitrary arrest and prosecution of its members.

According to the NPP,  the actions being taken by the NDC government authorities undermine democratic principles and the rule of law.

He warned that such developments could set a dangerous precedent for Ghana’s political environment.

Justin Kodua Frimpong warned that a future NPP administration should not be faulted if similar measures are taken against members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) members.

Speaking to journalists at a press conference on Wednesday, April 15, Justin Kodua Frimpong stated, “Somewhere in 2025, this government was arresting, detaining and arbitrarily arraigning members of our party before some kangaroo courts. We came to you, and we were not calling on the media, CSOs, and the clergy to come to the defence of the NPP, but rather let you all be aware of what the NDC is doing.

They are sidestepping our constitution, the respect for the rule of law, liberty, and freedom of expression, and we want to send a signal to them that no condition is permanent and definitely, the tables will turn.

And we don’t want a situation where the tables will turn, and people will come to the NPP government and ask why these things are happening.”

Meanwhile, Senyo Hosi, a Finance and economic policy analyst, has said 2026 is the defining year for the ND led John Mahama government.

According to Senyo Hosi, the real state of the Mahama government will be evaluated after this year.

Senyo Hosi further told President John Dramani Mahama that his honeymoon period in government is over.

According to Senyo Hosi, the Mahama government must focus on substantive issues that affect our people, like production and employment for our youth.

He detailed that the Ghanaians will soon stop discussing the sins of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as they start to demand accountability from the Mahama government.

Senyo Hosi is quoted to have said, “People now are going to stop discussing what Nana Addo was like. People are now going to hold this government accountable for their own aspirations as human beings, as Ghanaians and their expectations of governance.

Real lives are at stake, and real questions will start being asked. Nana Addo is fast becoming history in people’s expectations and people’s problems about governance. People have accountability issues. Are you really delivering accountability beyond the press conferences and saying…Who has become accountable after over a whole year in office?

We were having conversations with the transport minister about the efficiency of procurement, about you still doing single sourcing. People are seeing these things and will start judging you on its own merit”.

He added, This is the defining year for John Mahama; the real state of his government will be evaluated after this year. Next year is campaign mode, and there will be a lot of disruption, but this is an indication that your honeymoon is over, so please get focused on the substantive issues that affect our people. An alleged cousin of Joana Quaye has opened some keys about the ongoing settlement dispute involving the former wife of Bill’s Micro-credit founder Richard Nii Armah Quaye.

Speaking in an interview with UK-based Ghanaian TikTok personality Tr0uble Carlos, the woman, identified as Abena, revealed the role Joana played in her former husband’s early life and career.

According to her, Joana met Richard Nii Armah Quaye at age 18 shortly after completing SHS in 2002, and the two later began dating.

“She met him when they were both still young and trying to find their way,” Abena said.

She went on to claim that both gained admission to the University of Professional Studies, Accra, but Joana allegedly gave up her place after being persuaded to put her education on hold and work while RNAQ completed his studies.

“She decided to pause school and support him until he was done,” Abena stated.

Abena further alleged that her cousin made financial contributions toward his education both in Ghana and abroad, and later supported the establishment of Bills Micro-credit.

She also spoke about chállenges within the marriage, claiming things began to change as success came.

“As the money was coming, the man started changing,” she said.

However, the brouhaha follows, RNAQ, who have been locked up in a bitter divorce alimony battle with ex-wife Joana for the past four years.

Joana Quaye has since hired prominent Accra-based law firm, Dame & Partners, as her new lawyers to pursue an appeal against the award following the court orders in what she described as “being given a raw deal”.

Dr Mary Awusi, CEO of the Ghana Free Zones Authority and a senior National Democratic Congress (NDC) member, has begged the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, after her earlier warning.

According to the Free Zones CEO, she retracts and apologises, adding that she sincerely apologises as she is only human.

She asserted that her comments may have offended the church leader, the Church, and the general public and pleaded for forgiveness.

Speaking on Accra FM on Friday, April 24, 2026,  Dr Awusi stated, “I retract and apologise. I have great respect for the man of God, considering his position as Chairman of the Church of Pentecost. In expressing myself, I may have offended him, the Church, and the general public, and for that, I sincerely apologise. I am human,” she stated.

Her earlier remarks come after Apostle Eric Nyamekye highlighted how rampant galamsey and the extensive pollution of water bodies have forced the church to stop river baptisms.

Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, lamented how illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, has hampered traditional water baptism.

According to Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, galamsey activities have hampered traditional water baptism in some mining communities.

He highlighted that the Church of Pentecost have now shifted to synthetic rubber pools in several districts to carry out the ordinance.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, speaking during his State of the Church Address at the 48th General Conference on April 22, 2026, highlighted the persistent destruction of Ghana’s water.

The Chairman of the Church of Pentecost stated, “The extensive pollution of water bodies due to illegal mining has hampered traditional water baptism in some mining communities, necessitating a shift to synthetic rubber pools in several districts to carry out the ordinance,” he stated.

According to Dr Mary Awusi, Apostle Eric Nyamekye’s statement is a highly political statement.

She warned that if the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost descends to that level again, they will deal with him as a politician.

Speaking in an interview on Accra FM on April 23, 2026, Dr Mary Awusi stated, “He is a man of God, so we will forgive him, but next time he shouldn’t come so low to that level.

Next time, when he stoops so low and tries to do politics, they will deal with him as a politician. I’ve shown him respect this time as a man of God, but he should know that the statement he made is a highly political statement”.

She further questioned Apostle Eric Nyamekye’s consistency of criticisms about galamsey across different political administrations.

She added, “When Nana Addo was President, if you went to the mining communities, the rivers were like mud. At that time, was he in Ghana or wasn’t he in Ghana? Did he see that or did he not see how the rivers were then?”

“So as a pastor, if the truth is there and you wouldn’t say it, and instead put aside your pastoral duties and put on a political lens to talk, then next time we will treat him as a politician,” she added.

Omanhene Kwabena Asante, host of Adom TV’s Badwam, has told President John Dramani Mahama that the arrogance of some of his appointees is setting up his government for destruction.  

According to Omanhene, there is a need for a reshuffling of appointees, which will make the arrogant appointees sit up.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Omanhene Kwabena Asante stated, “The arrogance of some Mahama appointees is setting up the government for destruction and failure. I urge the president to do a reshuffle. The shake-up will make them sit up.”

“If he does not quickly cut this off, it will affect his government as well as the people of the country,” he admonished.

He further drew comparisons with the erstwhile Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration, saying, “People had so much trust in Akufo-Addo because of how he carried himself, yet many were surprised by the flaws in his governance”.

“With the second coming of President Mahama, there is a lot of expectation, trust, and hope, so he must consciously work to maintain that,” he cautioned.

He added, “He should start with those around him because some are intentionally setting him up with their actions”.

“The director-generals, chief executives, and appointees are repeating the same errors made in the past,” he mentioned.

“It does not mean others are doing well; the problem is that the bad ones are many, which is why something must be done quickly.”

“One of the issues the Akufo-Addo government faced was the delay in reshuffling, and we are seeing similar signs now.”

Meanwhile, Fifi Kwetey, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, has revealed that there will be a ministerial reshuffle of ministers in the John Mahama administration.

According to the NDC General Secretary, from what he is picking up in the corridors of power, there will be a ministerial reshuffle, but he cannot say how soon. 

Speaking on TV3 Hot Issues, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey explained, “It is always important that despite the fact that things have gone on very well in the first year, the president, who is the leader, will always want to see where things can still be done better”.

“A reshuffle is normally done within that context, where you want to see in this particular sector, even though things are okay, it can still do better if I move somebody else to that place or in this place, maybe this one is not too effective in this sector”.

“So I think a reshuffle will be a possibility, and what I pick up from the corridors, yes, we definitely are going to have a reshuffle. I wouldn’t be able to say how soon, but definitely”.

Some netizens reacting to the NDC General Secretary’s remarks stated, “Reshuffle kɛkɛ but the same squad? Ei Ghana, how many times we go watch this old movie? We need fresh energy-otherwise it’s just rerun after rerun!”.

Also, Social media influencer Kaly Jay has called on President Mahama to reshuffle some of his appointees.

According to him, some of Mahama’s appointees are making the work difficult.

In a post on X, Kaly Jay wrote, “President Mahama should be planning a reshuffle by now. Some of his appointees are making the work difficult. The legacy term does not need the Mr Nice Guy Mahama. They should help build the Mahama Legacy or move on for others to do the job”.

Somen netizen reacting under his post stated, “President John Dramani Mahama must prioritise results over comfort. If some appointees are slowing progress, a decisive reshuffle could refocus the team and protect the Mahama legacy. Leadership sometimes means making tough changes for the greater good”.

Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on President John Dramani Mahama to sack the Chief Executive Officer for the Freezones Authority, Dr Mary Awusi, following her remarks against the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost.

According to Nana B, Madam Mary Ewusi must be sacked for her distasteful and insulting attacks on the Pentecost chairman.

In his post on Facebook, Nana B stated,  “SACK MADAM MARY EWUSI NOW FOR HER DISTASTEFUL COMMENTS & ATTACKS ON PENTECOST CHAIRMAN

The Chairman of the Church of Pentecost of Ghana, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, in his ‘State of the Church’ address at the 48th General Assembly, has bemoaned the ever-worsening incidence of illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, in our Country and how the havoc wrought on our water bodies is impeding traditional river baptism by the Church.

In a very shocking twist, this very justifiable concern by the revered leader of the Church of Pentecost in Ghana has been met with a very distasteful attack from the President and the NDC through Madam Mary Ewusi, CEO of the Ghana FreeZones board and a close confidante of President John Mahama.

Mary Ewusi’s threats and taunts asking Apostle Nyamekye to ‘shut up or face the consequences’ cannot be treated lightly. It is obviously not an isolated reaction but yet another clear indication of the state-sanctioned scheme by John Mahama and his henchmen to silence all of the genuine voices of reason in our Country.

Mary Ewusi’s unprovoked attacks on no mean a person than the leader of the Church of Pentecost should be condemned by every well-meaning Ghanaian.

President Mahama should urgently revoke Madam Ewusi’s appointment if indeed he is not in support of such distasteful and disrespectful comments. The NDC and President Mahama must, as a matter of urgency, render an unqualified apology to Apostle Eric Nyamekye and the leadership of the Church of Pentecost.

President Mahama must remember that he will never be able to gag well-meaning Ghanaians from expressing their disappointment with the many broken promises by his government, and we will continue to put him on his toes for the good of the ordinary Ghanaian”.

Also, Prof H. Prempeh, the Chairman of Ghana’s constitutional amendment committee, has tackled the Chief Executive Officer for the Freezones Authority, Dr Mary Awusi, following her remarks against the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost.

In a post shared on social media, Prof Prempeh quizzes the Free Zones CEO if threatening the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost was part of her job description.

According to Prof Prempeh, the  Free Zones CEO must focus on her job and leave the party propaganda job to others.

 Prof H. Prempehin, in his post, wrote, “Is this part of your job description or KPI as CEO of Ghana Free Zones Authority? You were appointed to your CEO position at a state enterprise to do a specific job. Why can’t you focus on that important STATE assignment and leave the PARTY propaganda job to others who have no similar state responsibilities. The church leader’s public comment was not about the state agency you have been appointed to run; neither was it addressed to you or anyone in particular.

It is a matter of legitimate public interest. And there are state agencies and government officials who are properly authorised and best placed to respond to the church leader’s concerns. Yes, I know this commingling of roles, where government appointees to state offices double or volunteer themselves as ad hoc party communicators, has been a common practice in the politics of the 4th Republic.

But shouldn’t we be moving past this sort of thing? Shouldn’t our democracy, like all living things, be maturing with time and experience? If RESET cannot reset this low-hanging fruit, what else in this town can it meaningfully reset?”

Prof H. Prempeh, the Chairman of Ghana’s constitutional amendment committee, has tackled the Chief Executive Officer for the Freezones Authority, Dr Mary Awusi, following her remarks against the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost.

In a post shared on social media, Prof Prempeh quizzes the Free Zones CEO if threatening the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost was part of her job description.

According to Prof Prempeh, the  Free Zones CEO must focus on her job and leave the party propaganda job to others.

 Prof H. Prempehin, in his post, wrote, “Is this part of your job description or KPI as CEO of Ghana Free Zones Authority? You were appointed to your CEO position at a state enterprise to do a specific job. Why can’t you focus on that important STATE assignment and leave the PARTY propaganda job to others who have no similar state responsibilities. The church leader’s public comment was not about the state agency you have been appointed to run; neither was it addressed to you or anyone in particular.

It is a matter of legitimate public interest. And there are state agencies and government officials who are properly authorised and best placed to respond to the church leader’s concerns. Yes, I know this commingling of roles, where government appointees to state offices double or volunteer themselves as ad hoc party communicators, has been a common practice in the politics of the 4th Republic.

But shouldn’t we be moving past this sort of thing? Shouldn’t our democracy, like all living things, be maturing with time and experience? If RESET cannot reset this low-hanging fruit, what else in this town can it meaningfully reset?”

His remarks come on the heels of Dr Mary Awusi, CEO of the Ghana Free Zones Authority and a senior National Democratic Congress (NDC) member, issuing a stern warning to the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye.

Dr Mary Awusi remarks come after Apostle Eric Nyamekye highlighted how rampant galamsey and the extensive pollution of water bodies have forced the church to stop river baptisms.

According to Dr Mary Awusi, Apostle Eric Nyamekye’s statement is a highly political statement.

She warned that if the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost descends to that level again, they will deal with him as a politician.

Speaking in an interview on Accra FM on April 23, 2026, Dr Mary Awusi stated, “He is a man of God, so we will forgive him, but next time he shouldn’t come so low to that level.

Next time, when he stoops so low and tries to do politics, they will deal with him as a politician. I’ve shown him respect this time as a man of God, but he should know that the statement he made is a highly political statement”.

She further questioned Apostle Eric Nyamekye’s consistency of criticisms about galamsey across different political administrations.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, speaking during his State of the Church Address at the 48th General Conference on April 22, 2026, highlighted the persistent destruction of Ghana’s water.

The Chairman of the Church of Pentecost stated, “The extensive pollution of water bodies due to illegal mining has hampered traditional water baptism in some mining communities, necessitating a shift to synthetic rubber pools in several districts to carry out the ordinance,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Sammi Awuku, the former Director-General of the National Lottery Authority and Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, has revealed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) plans to win the 2028 election.

According to Sammi Awuku, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will shift strategy to win the 2028 elections.

Sammi Awuku explained that the NPP will shift its strategy to prioritise deeper grassroots mobilisation, more structured communication, and sustained engagement with party members.

He detailed that the party intends to move closer to communities to better understand their challenges, making sure that their political policies and messaging reflect realities on the ground.

Sammi Awuku further revealed that the NPP is reviewing its previous campaign strategies to adopt new methods to enhance voter engagement efficiency.

The Damongo MP labelled Mahamudu Bawumia as the most prepared and best-suited leader to guide Ghana beyond 2028.

Speaking on The Pulse on JoyNews, Abu  Jinapor explained, “By the grace of God, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP will be putting a strong formula, strategy and blueprint before the Ghanaian people… to ensure that we win the confidence of the Ghanaian people”.

He further disclosed that the NPP elected a solid and a very extraordinary man with experience in Ghanaian politics.

According to John Mahama, infrastructure is the foundation upon which innovation rests.

He disclosed that an additional $20 million will be dedicated to supporting the rollout of the strategy.

Speaking at the launch of Ghana’s National AI Strategy in Accra on Friday, April 24, President John Mahama stated, “Infrastructure is the foundation upon which innovation rests. Ghana will invest $250 million to establish a world-class AI computing centre.

In addition, the government will commit $20 million to support the short to medium-term National AI strategy. These investments are bold but necessary,” he said.

Mahama further added, “This is a significant milestone in our national journey towards a digitally empowered, innovation-driven and globally competitive Ghana. It is also a statement of intent that Ghana will not be just a passive consumer of technologies shaping the future, but that we are going to be an active participant in designing, governing and deploying them for our national transformation”.

“Our vision is therefore clear to position Ghana as a leading AI hub in West Africa and the wider continental region, driving innovation, creating jobs, strengthening institutions and delivering inclusive national development,” he stated.

“This vision requires leadership from the top, and that is why I recently packed all my ministers and senior government officials into the National AI bootcamp. That decision was deliberate. Leadership must understand the tools that will define our future,” he added.

Speaking at the launch of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy on Friday, April 24, Sam George, “Today’s launch demonstrates His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to driving Ghana’s digital journey. Ghana steps forward, deliberately and confidently, into the Intelligence Age. Guided by President Mahama, the Ministry defines our national direction for full participation in the emerging technology space.

We intend to use Artificial Intelligence responsibly and ethically, in accordance with a well-thought-out governance framework. This technology will transform our economy and improve our people’s lives.

Your Excellency, this journey has been deliberate and inclusive. From the outset, we were clear from a policy perspective: Artificial Intelligence is not just a technology issue but a pathway to advance national development. The Strategy impacts governance, education, health, agriculture, industry, economy, and all spheres of society. We are also mindful that Artificial Intelligence is a Sovereignty issue”.

Sam George further announced, “We are strengthening digital infrastructure through expanded 4G and 5G connectivity, and a modernised National Data Centre lays the foundation for successful AI deployment. We also prioritise data governance by developing the Data Harmonisation Bill. Without quality, secure, and well-managed data, AI cannot work. Ghana’s data must work for Ghana. This government leads by example. We must become data-driven, efficient, and responsive to citizens.

Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, as we move forward, we do so with responsibility. We are not interested in reckless adoption of AI. We are committed to responsible and ethical AI. We align with global frameworks such as the UNESCO AI Readiness Assessment Methodology (RAM) and rely on our legal and regulatory institutions.

Together, we are building systems that protect privacy, ensure fairness, and foster trust”.

The Communication Minister detailed that the government will collaborate with the “UNDP to train all Chief Directors and Directors in the Civil Service between June and December 2026. This training will ensure that they implement KPIs aligned with national priorities”.

Niloy Banerjee, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ghana, has said Ghana’s Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Sam George, told him he wants Ghana to be the shining city on the Hill with Artificial Intelligence (AI).

According to Niloy Banerjee, Sam George, in his first meeting with him, revealed this to him.

The  UNDP rep in Ghana highlighted that he was blown away by Sam George’s intelligence during their first meeting, describing him as knowledgeable, driven by his vision, and passion.

Speaking at the launch of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy on Friday, April 24, Niloy Banerjee narrated, “Since I arrived in Ghana just before the 2024 elections in two months, as you formed your Cabinet, I started to pay a courtesy visit to various Ministers and ministries.

So I met this young, dynamic Minister who spoke at length about his vision for digital transformation, ethics, which has come up quite a bit, and fairness. Why should our people not have the full benefits of AI? He reminded me that AI must not create the new digital divide.

He told me about building a large language model in the languages of Ghana. He told me about the million coders program. I was blown away. I am not a tech person; I am an economist”.

He further added, “I was intimidated thinking about what the one intelligent thing I can say to this person, because he is so knowledgeable, so driven by his vision, and his passion. So I made some polite nosies a couple of months later, I got a call from him, saying we need to do a digital AI bootcamp.

I looked up Bootcamp, and off we went to the retreat where Minister Emelia Arthur you were the champion, and Mr Sam George led us. Not only did our Cabinet Minister participate, but I also became AI literate, and now I outsource all my intellectual work to AI”.

“One thing Minister Sam George said to me in our first meeting is that he wants to make Ghana the shining city on the hill in the digital and AI transformation. So today I say to you with this great moment, this time when the strategy has come to life, I know I will get another phone call from him, let take it to our people”, he revealed.

Ending his speech by quoting one of his favourite authors, Victor Hugo, he stated, “Nothing can stop an idea whose time has come. Ghana, your time to be the shining city hill with AI is here”.

Young Ghanaian man found dead in South Africa with body parts missing

A young Ghanaian man has been found dead with his body parts missing in South Africa after travelling to the country, after he promised greener pastures.

Reports suggest that Israel Ashitei Kamoah, the young Ghanaian man, was allegedly murdered in South Africa in late March 2026.

According to reports, the deceased travelled to South Africa on March 25, 2026, on a trip allegedly organised by the Millennium Supporters Union of Ghana.

In a Facebook post by Ablade TV sharing the news wrote, “Israel Kamoah Ashitei Found D€@d in South Africa; Missing Body Parts Raise Suspected Organ Harvesting Concerns.

A graduate of Accra Technical University, Israel Ashitei Kamoah, was allegedly murderèd in South Africa after joining a trip organised by the Millennium Supporters Union of Ghana.

Reports indicate that Israel arrived in South Africa on March 25, 2026, after allegedly being lured by a woman identified as Edith, who reportedly handled his passport, visa, and flight arrangements.

According to the family, Edith urged him to keep the trip secret, promising him a ticket to the South Africa versus Panama football match, along with possible job opportunities.

On March 29, just a day before his death, Israel reportedly sent a message to his cousin, sharing Edith’s name and phone number.

He allegedly stated that she worked with the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority and warned that if anything happened to him, his father should hold her responsible.

Sadly, Israel dièd the following day, March 30, 2026.

Trip organisers later claimed that a South African postmortem report described his death as suicide.

However, after his body was repatriated to LEKMA Mortuary on April 1, 2026, the family raised serious concerns, alleging that his heart, lungs, and liver were missing.

Adding to the suspicion, CCTV footage reportedly shared with the family showed Israel being dragged away after refusing something, sparking fears of foul play.

Following a complaint at the Labadi Police Station, Edith was invited for questioning but was later released, and the case was reportedly dismissed.

Believing this may involve murdèr and possible orgán trafficking, the family has now escalated the matter to the Criminal Investigations Department, CID, for a full and thorough investigation.

This remains a developing story, and we will continue to follow updates as they unfold.”

The news has surfaced at a time a viral video of viral street confrontation video from South Africa, showing activist Victoria Africa, commonly known as Queen Vee and a group of locals questioning a Ghanaian man and other African migrants about their travel documents.

According to Victoria Africa, South Africans are tired of other African countries migrating to their country and refusing to fix their own countries.

Victoria Africa in the viral video stated, “We are fixing this continent. This thing of you guys moving from one country to another is no longer working. We don’t want this as African people anymore. We are tired of seeing African migrants moving all over the world, refusing to fix their own countries. Now we are making it very clear to you guys, we don’t want you here. We want you to fix your countries.

“You came here with a travelling document. We came with a passport. You know that you are a visitor, but you decided to come and integrate into our communities. You know very well that what you have done is wrong. We can come to Ghana and do what you do now.”

The Ghanaian man was then asked to show his passport. After he showed them the document, which was a “certified copy” of his passport, they accused him of buying it from a corrupt South African official.

Another man asked the Ghanaian man, “Who is the police officer that you are bribing to certify these things for you… Let me tell you, you know, by law, as an immigrant, you’re not allowed to certify your passport… Why do you certify your passport in a foreign land? Let’s just start there. Why do you certify your passport in a foreign land?”.

The man explained that he had a certified copy because he did not want the original one to get lost or destroyed by rain.

The South Africans kept insisting that he was in their country illegally and should leave.

The footage has triggered an intense online debate about xenophobia and migration.

Meanwhile, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, has told the South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Thando Dalamba, to urge his government to take decisive action to protect Ghanaians and other Africans living in South Africa.

According to Abklakwa, at the meeting, he conveyed the Government of Ghana’s strong condemnation of the continuous xenophobic attacks on Ghanaians and other Africans living in South Africa.

He further called for investigations to be expedited and all perpetrators to be punished, highlighting that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will communicate other steps we have taken in due course.

In a post shared on X on Thursday, April 23, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa wrote, “Earlier today, I summoned the Acting South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr Thando Dalamba.

At the meeting, I conveyed the Government of Ghana’s strong condemnation of the continuous xenophobic attacks on Ghanaians and other Africans living in South Africa.

We are urging South African authorities to take decisive action in protecting the human rights and dignity of our nationals and all Africans.

Ghana equally expects that the promised investigations be expedited and all perpetrators punished to serve as an adequate deterrence.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will communicate other steps we have taken in due course”.

According to Oheneyere Gifty Anti, she was scared to think of childbirth because she heard it’s impossible to have a child after 40, but she did at 47.

Gifty Anti narrated the challenges she faced before welcoming her first child, recounting how her pregnancy required careful medical supervision.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime on April 23, 2026, Gifty Anti disclosed, “I was scared to think of childbirth because I heard it’s impossible to have a child after 40, but I had my first child at 47.

“I remember my cousin wanted me to come to the U.S. to deliver my baby there. That’s because they had to put me on bed rest and all that. I was scared, but the doctor took me through,” she stated.

She shared, “I went through treatment, and I’ve written about it in my book. It didn’t happen naturally; I did IVF, and I had failed IVFs before this one worked. All the treatment I went through, I have the scars to show for it”.

“I wanted a child. I prayed and told God that if it doesn’t happen, I’m going to adopt a child. At a point, I met my doctor, and he told me that my womb is fine, so let’s try. We tried, and by the grace of God, it happened,” she added.

Also, Gifty Anti has advised Ghanaian youths against being pressured to get married.

According to Gifty Anti, before marriage, they insulted her, and after marriage, they still did.

She highlighted that today, some of those people who used to insult her are telling their loved ones that even Gifty Anti got married at the age of 45 and gave birth at the age of 47.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime on April 23, 2026, when asked by the host to advise young girls who are 30 and not yet married, she advised, “Losten girl, it will happen when it has to happen, but in the meantime, keep preparing.

Before I got married, a lot of things were said about me. After I got married, a lot more was said.

Dr Mary Awusi, CEO of the Ghana Free Zones Authority and a senior National Democratic Congress (NDC) member, issues a stern warning to the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye.

Her remarks come after Apostle Eric Nyamekye highlighted how rampant galamsey and the extensive pollution of water bodies have forced the church to stop river baptisms.

According to Dr Mary Awusi, Apostle Eric Nyamekye’s statement is a highly political statement.

She warned that if the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost descends to that level again, they will deal with him as a politician.

Speaking in an interview on Accra FM on April 23, 2026, Dr Mary Awusi stated, “He is a man of God, so we will forgive him, but next time he shouldn’t come so low to that level.

Next time, when he stoops so low and tries to do politics, they will deal with him as a politician. I’ve shown him respect this time as a man of God, but he should know that the statement he made is a highly political statement”.

She further questioned Apostle Eric Nyamekye’s consistency of criticisms about galamsey across different political administrations.

She added, “When Nana Addo was President, if you went to the mining communities, the rivers were like mud. At that time, was he in Ghana or wasn’t he in Ghana? Did he see that or did he not see how the rivers were then?”

“So as a pastor, if the truth is there and you wouldn’t say it, and instead put aside your pastoral duties and put on a political lens to talk, then next time we will treat him as a politician,” she added.

Dr Mary Awusi’s remarks come after Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, lamented how illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, has hampered traditional water baptism.

According to Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, galamsey activities have hampered traditional water baptism in some mining communities.

He highlighted that the Church of Pentecost have now shifted to synthetic rubber pools in several districts to carry out the ordinance.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, speaking during his State of the Church Address at the 48th General Conference on April 22, 2026, highlighted the persistent destruction of Ghana’s water.

The Chairman of the Church of Pentecost stated, “The extensive pollution of water bodies due to illegal mining has hampered traditional water baptism in some mining communities, necessitating a shift to synthetic rubber pools in several districts to carry out the ordinance,” he stated.

Some Ghanaians reacting to the development stated, “Repeating the same talks we were fed up with about 2 years ago and voted them out. Criticism should strengthen you to do more but not to take offence to it”.

A netizen quizzed, “Where is this stupidity from? So, Ghanaians outside of politics can no longer complain about issues directly affecting them? Having that Dr title should come with some level of tact and discernment. Nanso mo nhwɛ adeɛ”.

One X user added, “Apostle was spot on. Is galamsey not destroying our environment? Is it not affecting our health, agriculture, crime rate, etc.? What is this woman talking about? Political positions are only for a while, so be guided by your utterances. Channel your energy to stop galamsey, not threats”.

“Just a quick Google search will show you all the statements Apostle Nyamekye made against galamsey during the NPP era. He and other clergy even went as far as visiting galamsey sites to pray against this menace. Do you know what their visit to these sites did against the NPP?”, a netizen added.

Galamsey has forced us to stop river baptism – Church of Pentecost Chair laments 

Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, has lamented how illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, has forced the Church to stop traditional river baptism.

According to Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, galamsey activities have hampered traditional water baptism in some mining communities.

He highlighted that the Church of Pentecost have now shifted to synthetic rubber pools in several districts to carry out the ordinance.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, speaking during his State of the Church Address at the 48th General Conference on April 22, 2026, highlighted the persistent destruction of Ghana’s water.

The Chairman of the Church of Pentecost stated, “The extensive pollution of water bodies due to illegal mining has hampered traditional water baptism in some mining communities, necessitating a shift to synthetic rubber pools in several districts to carry out the ordinance,” he stated.

In related galamsey news, Ntebe Ayo William, the Member of Parliament for Tatale-Sanguli, has boldly stated that illegal mining, widely known as galamsey, cannot be entirely eradicated in Ghana.

According to the Tatale-Sanguli MP, Ghana can only minimise the impact of galamsey through targeted interventions.

He noted that earlier forms of illegal mining involved basic tools, which caused less environmental damage, adding that the increased use of chanfans and earth-moving equipment like excavators has significantly worsened the scale of destruction.

Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, he explained, “What is galamsey at all? Galamsey is illegal mining. So, if I go to my farm and there is gold there and I decide to mine my gold, that is illegal, that is galamsey. We will control that one. The government is on the point to stop mining in water bodies and in the forest”.

“… you cannot stop galamsey in Ghana. To be honest with you, you can only minimise it. How do you end it? We are fighting it, and we are fighting it in two ways: water and forest. Don’t destroy the forest, don’t pollute the water,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), Nana Ama Brown Klutse, has said  $35 million will be required to completely restore the Birim River.

The EPA boss made this known during the pilot application of ionic nano copper technology on the Birim River.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), Nana Ama Brown Klutse, the Nano-liquid technology will cost the state $200,000 per kilometre of flowing river to clean galamsey-polluted water.

The EPA boss described the Nano Copper as a game changer, noting $200,000 was spent, and that sustained support could lower water treatment costs.

The initiative is designed to test a copper-based nano liquid technology as a scientifically backed method for cleaning rivers severely affected by illegal mining activities, often referred to as galamsey.

Based on the outcomes of this initial trial, the EPA plans to expand the project to other heavily polluted rivers, including the Ankobra, Pra, and Offin.

Speaking in an interview on Chanel One TV, Nana Ama Brown Klutse stated, “It took us about $200,000 to procure an amount that will clean one kilometre of every flowing river body. The Birim River is about 175 kilometres, so you can do the mathematics, we are talking about $35 million”.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, has told the acting South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Thando Dalamba, to urge his government to take decisive action to protect Ghanaians and other Africans living in South Africa.

According to Abklakwa, at the meeting, he conveyed the Government of Ghana’s strong condemnation of the continuous xenophobic attacks on Ghanaians and other Africans living in South Africa.

He further called for investigations to be expedited and all perpetrators to be punished, highlighting that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will communicate other steps we have taken in due course.

In a post shared on X on Thursday, April 23, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa wrote, “Earlier today, I summoned the Acting South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr Thando Dalamba.

At the meeting, I conveyed the Government of Ghana’s strong condemnation of the continuous xenophobic attacks on Ghanaians and other Africans living in South Africa.

We are urging South African authorities to take decisive action in protecting the human rights and dignity of our nationals and all Africans.

Ghana equally expects that the promised investigations be expedited and all perpetrators punished to serve as an adequate deterrence.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will communicate other steps we have taken in due course”.

Some Ghanaians reacting to the Minister’s update stated, “Honourable, diplomacy has been the chorus since 1994, yet xenophobia keeps resurfacing. The truth is plain: South Africa’s message is that African migrants are not welcome. Our response must be just as plain: bring our citizens home, cut the ties that expose them to danger, and channel our energy into building our own nation. Safety and dignity are not negotiable, and no amount of polite statements can substitute for decisive action”.

A netizen added, “Ghana should trigger very strong diplomatic sanctions now. When in many years has any Media reported  such treatment of South Africans in Ghana? 

Xenophobia in SA is systemic, they know the real problem and should deal with it and STOP venting their hatred on other nationals”.

One X user added, “It is important to recognise that South Africa is a constitutional democracy where citizens are free to express their frustrations, particularly when there is widespread dissatisfaction with government performance. Our foundation rests on the principle that “the people shall govern”. Even if you were to engage President Ramaphosa, it is unlikely to alter the prevailing public sentiment. A more balanced approach may also be to reflect and summon your own citizens back home”.

A netizen added, “Firstly, tell us how many South Africans are in your country illegally, tell us how many are in your prisons, you guys are so hellbent on gaslighting our plights, I think the best way to deal with this is to bill you for taking care of your citizens that you are failing to do”.

“Again, South Africa’s biggest mistake is going after a Ghanaian. They can do it with the Nigerians and face no repercussions, but for a Ghanaian, the current government will not let it slide. Questions will be asked, and answers will have to be given”, a netizen claimed.

One more netizen with a long comment added, “South Africans are over the CS lost in their own buffoonery and taking pride in their display of wanton hatred and gross assault of other Africans, in the name of ‘they are illegally living in our country”.

Nobody supports illegality, and the law should rightly take its cause on that and see to it that illegals are deported.

But harassing, assaulting and looting fellow Africans in your country is such a barbaric thing to pride yourselves in.

Unfortunately, the world does not revolve around South Africa, so whether you like it or not, South Africans will visit and do business in other countries as much as other countries will do in South Africa.

It’s 2026.

The Ghanaian man, who was captured in a viral video being accosted by a group of South Africans have broken his silence after the confrontation.

 The man has been identified as Emmanuel Asamoah, who has been captured in a video being engaged by Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Benjamin Quashie.

According to the Ghanaian man, by God’s grace, nothing bad happened to him.

Speaking in the video shared on X by EDHUB, Emmanuel Asamoah stated, “The little I have to say is that I’m well. I was the one in the video, but by God’s grace, nothing bad happened to me. I’m fine.

“I’ve had some discussions with Ghana’s High Commissioner this morning, so everything is fine,” he said.

Also, Ghana’s High Commissioner Benjamin Quashie urged Ghanaians living in South Africa not to take matters into their own hands, saying, “The situation is dire; we understand. Let’s continue to be law-abiding. Let’s continue to respect the rules and regulations and the rules of engagement as migrant citizens in this country. I think that whatever it is that we do, we’ve always been noted as Ghanaians to be law-abiding; we’ve always been noted as being people who don’t foment trouble. So, let’s not go that route yet. Let’s continue to engage with them. And I’m sure that it is just a matter of time before everything will be all right.

“Wherever you find yourself, as your servant leader, I ask you to be law-abiding. I ask you to be patient. We’ve asked some of you, for example, in Impatah, not to work in your shops today. We’ll be sending that advisory to most of the other provinces where we pick up any information. Our belief is that we should work together to ensure we don’t have casualties. Let’s work together to ensure that whatever it is that we do will continue to foster the bilateral relationship that we have between South Africa and Ghana. Thank you,” he said.

The development follows a viral street confrontation video from South Africa, showing activist Victoria Africa, commonly known as Queen Vee and a group of locals questioning a Ghanaian man and other African migrants about their travel documents.

According to Victoria Africa, South Africans are tired of other African countries migrating to their country and refusing to fix their own countries.

Victoria Africa in the viral video stated, “We are fixing this continent. This thing of you guys moving from one country to another is no longer working. We don’t want this as African people anymore. We are tired of seeing African migrants moving all over the world, refusing to fix their own countries. Now we are making it very clear to you guys, we don’t want you here. We want you to fix your countries.

“You came here with a travelling document. We came with a passport. You know that you are a visitor, but you decided to come and integrate into our communities. You know very well that what you have done is wrong. We can come to Ghana and do what you do now.”

The Ghanaian man was then asked to show his passport. After he showed them the document, which was a “certified copy” of his passport, they accused him of buying it from a corrupt South African official.

Another man asked the Ghanaian man, “Who is the police officer that you are bribing to certify these things for you… Let me tell you, you know, by law, as an immigrant, you’re not allowed to certify your passport… Why do you certify your passport in a foreign land? Let’s just start there. Why do you certify your passport in a foreign land?”.

The man explained that he had a certified copy because he did not want the original one to get lost or destroyed by rain.

The South Africans kept insisting that he was in their country illegally and should leave.

The footage has triggered an intense online debate about xenophobia and migration.

Sam George, the member of parliament for Ningo-Prampram and lead sponsor of the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, commonly referred to as the anti LGBTQ BILL, has criticised the Ghana AIDS Commission over the distribution of condoms and lubricants to men who have sex with men.

The MP argued that such resources should instead be redirected to priority areas like maternal healthcare.

According to Sam George, the rationale behind the Commission’s distributing lubricants to gays contradicts its mandate to fight HIV.

Speaking during deliberations on the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2025, on Thursday, April 23, Sam George argued, “We have evidence of Ghana AIDS Commission officers meeting with pro-LGBTQ groups and giving them lubricants. If the Ghana AIDS Commission is supposed to fight HIV, why are you giving lubricants to men to have anal sex with men?”

“And the excuse given is that these are people who already have HIV, and so they don’t want them to spread it. So they are giving them lubricants. That in itself is an activity that continues to perpetuate anal sex between men,” he stated.

“If they really want to fund public health, they should go and give maternal beds for women who do not have beds for delivery. This one, we won’t open the door,” he added.

Also, Sam George has assured Ghanaians that the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, commonly referred to as the Anti-LGBTQI bill, will be processed “expeditiously” by Parliament.

According to Sam George, Parliament will work expeditiously and will be forwarded to President John Mahama for him to assent to the bill.

Sam George further rejected claims that he had abandoned the bill after his elevation to a ministerial role under the Mahama administration.

Speaking during an event, Sam George stated, “There is no bill before President Mahama today”

He further admitted, “The calls from very respectable groups like the Catholic Bishops Conference are very well placed because of how sensitive and important this is”.

Sam George further dismissed allegations levelled agains him, saying, “I have heard people who have said Sam George and his colleague sponsors have abandoned — we’ve run away because I’ve been appointed minister,” he said. “The process is the process.”

“As for the clauses, we have gone through them, we’ve masticated them, and we will go through them expeditiously. The body of the law remains the same,” he said.

“I believe that Parliament has a responsibility to grant the Chief Imam his wish and grant the Catholic Bishops their wish,” he added.

Meanwhile, Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of parliament, has urged Ghanaians not to listen to persons who do not know what is happening in parliament regarding the anti-LGBTQ+ bill currently before parliament.

According to Speaker Bagbin, the bill has already gone through the necessary processes in Parliament and expressed confidence that it will be passed when the House reconvenes.

Speaking at an event, Alban Bagbin disclosed, “I’m sure one of the reasons we punished him and his party is one of these, so we started, and we processed it, it has gone through all the stages, and the next meeting of Parliament will get us asking to pass that bill into law”.

“So, don’t listen to people who don’t know what is in Parliament. Please, I repeat, don’t listen to people who don’t know what is in Parliament,” he cautioned.

“They can play that kind of bad politics. That is not what we are here for. We are different from those practising it. Our cultures, values, and principles are different. They know the effect and what it is doing to them. We resist it today; we will not be colonised again. That is gone, it’s history,” he added.

Speaker Babgin further disclosed that the president gave him his assurance that he will sign the anti-LGBTQ+ bill into law once the House passes it.

He disclosed, “… His Excellency the President assured me that when we pass the bill, and it comes to me, he has stated it before, he was going to ascend it. So, please, leave the rumour mongers”.

“… A number of Members of Parliament who believe in it decided to promote it in Parliament, and you know the things I said before, I’m not a man of words; I’m a man of action, and that is how we got it passed in Parliament, but for some reason, the [former] president did not assent to it. That one is his own bandana, not mine,” he said.

A relationship manager at a private bank, identified as Christopher Arthur, has been charged with allegedly stealing ₵12 million from a client’s accounts.

Reports suggest Christopher Arthur is a Relationship Manager at Guaranty Trust Bank.

Christopher Arthur has been accused of forging statements, diverting funds through multiple accounts, and spending part of it on online betting.

Reports suggest he has made partial refunds, with some assets already recovered.

The news shared by GHOne TV stated, “A relationship manager at a private bank, Christopher Arthur, has been charged with allegedly stealing about ₵12 million from a client’s accounts. He is accused of forging statements, diverting funds through multiple accounts, and spending part on sports betting. Authorities say he has made partial refunds, with some assets already recovered…”.

Some Ghanaians reacting to the news shared on social media stated, “All these banks and big institutions in this country keep using the youths and not giving them Good salaries, so when they see a loophole, they take the chance.

“Until I see his betting history, there is no way I will believe someone will steal ₵12 million and blow ₵600,000 on online bets, but if it is true, I wouldn’t be surprised that money sometimes falls into the hands of senseless and visionless people”, a netizen added.

Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, the New Patriotic Party MP for Assin South, has boldly rejected the allegation of an alleged relationship with transgender musician Angel Maxine.

According to Ntim Fordjour, he has never engaged in any such act, as his beliefs aligned with relations ordained between Adam and Eve.

Speaking during deliberations on the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2025, on Thursday, April 23, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour stated, “Maxine, in her old or present life, contrary to her claim that she has had intercourse with me, I have never engaged in any such act.”

Ntim Fordjour’s remarks come after Samuel Nartey George cited the allegations during a clause-by-clause consideration of the Bill by the Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs of Parliament.

According to Sam George, “Individuals who publicly identify as part of the LGBTQ community could face prosecution if the bill is passed into law.”

He further suggested,  “could face prosecution under the proposed law for allegedly presenting himself as a member of the LGBT community and promoting such conduct.”

“He now claims that he is having sexual intercourse with Hon. Ntim Fordjour and that Hon. Ntim Fordjour is his gay lover. That person is making such claims. Why are we saying that this individual is not prosecutable?” he questioned.

Earlier, Rev John Ntim Fordjour rejected allegations suggesting he is part of the LGBTQ+ community.

According to Rev Ntim Fordjour, it is never true that he is gay.

He further quizzed if he was gay, why would I champion the Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill that seeks to criminalise the activities?

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM’s Adea Akyea Abia on April 19, 2026, Rev Fordjour stated, “That guy making the accusations is a man turning himself into a woman.

“Such a person is the one making these allegations against me. It is never true that I am gay. If I were gay, why would I champion the Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill? Have you ever seen an armed robber calling for laws to arrest robbers? What he is saying is never true.”

In related news, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, the founder of Perez Chapel International, has weighed in on the debate surrounding the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill (Anti-LGBTQ bill) after President John Mahama stated it was not a priority.

Archbishop Dr Charles Agyinasare, during an interview with Bola Ray on Starrchat, expressed confidence in President Mahama to assent to the bill when passed by parliament.

According to Archbishop Agyinasare, President Mahama has fulfilled a lot of his promises, adding that he believes the president will sign the bill when passed.

Archbishop Agyinasare is quoted to have said, “President Mahama has fulfilled a lot of his promises, I believe he will sign the anti-LGBTQ-bill once it’s passed by parliament”.

Teacher Trainees to protest nationwide today over inadequate 7000 recruitment slots

The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has announced a nationwide demonstration designated for today, Friday, April 24, 2026.

The protest is scheduled to take place across all Colleges of Education, with a national convergence in Accra.

According to their statement, all 49 Colleges of Education are expected to participate, as they urged members to conduct themselves with discipline, unity, and urgency.

The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana statement read, “This action follows extensive engagement and careful consideration of the concerns of our members, as well as the urgent need for a more responsive and inclusive approach to teacher recruitment. In this regard, Tomorrow, Friday, 24th April, 2026, has been designated for a nationwide demonstration to be held across Colleges of Education, with a national convergence in Accra.

“All necessary security arrangements have been duly coordinated with the appropriate authorities to ensure a safe and orderly exercise across all Colleges. Accordingly, all forty-nine (49) Colleges of Education are expected to proceed with this demonstration with a sense of urgency, discipline, and unity, as previously outlined,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has told the John Mahama-led government to shut down colleges of Education if the government cannot be employed.

According to the TTAG, the 7,000 number of teachers being employed by the Mahama government is woefully inadequate.

The TTAG also demanded that the government fulfil its promise to automatically post trained teachers

He highlighted that more than 45,000 trained teachers remain without postings, with over 65,000 students currently enrolled in Colleges of Education.

Speaking at a press conference at the association’s national secretariat on Wednesday, April 22, TTAG President Nanija Devine stated, “The 7,000 number is too small for our workforce, and for that matter, it should be increased to absorb all the qualified, trained teachers in the system. We are also making it a firm demand that the government must honour the automatic posting of trained teachers,” he said.

“Those currently in the Colleges of Education are over 65,000. If the 45,000 already in the system do not know when they will be posted, then what about those still in training? What is the essence of their education?” he questioned.

“If indeed the government cannot recruit the 45,000 trained teachers in the system, then the Colleges of Education should consider closing down.”

Meanwhile, Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has defended the government’s decision to recruit only 7,000 teachers.

Haruna Iddrisu detailed that the 7000 teachers being recruited are due to budget constraints, adding that 50,000 teachers could have been recruited across the country if there were resources.

Speaking during the launch and communications briefing of the 19th edition of the eLearning Africa Conference on Tuesday, April 14, Haruna Iddrisu stated, “If resources were available, we should be employing and recruiting up to 50,000 teachers across the country, but due to budgetary constraints, we are unable to do that.

The Ministry of Education sought clearance from the Ministry of Finance to recruit up to 7,000 teachers with degrees and diplomas. Accordingly, the process has been advertised in an open, transparent manner,” he said.

According to reports, Abronye was reportedly flown abroad after falling sick after he was released by the CID Headquarters of the Ghana Police Service.

A netizen sharing the news on X stated, “Abronye falls sìck suddenly after his àrrest, wife reportedly flies him abroad for treatment.

Abronye DC has reportedly been flown out of Ghana for medical treatment after his c0ndition w0rsened following a police àrrest on Monday, April 13, 2026.

According to Daily Guide, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) confirmed in a statement that he was evacuated “following a deterioration in his heàlth condition.”

He was accompanied by his wife, lawyer Portia Acheampong, and Dr (Mrs) Edwina Baffoe James, who is overseeing his care.

His recent àrrest was linked to allegations of false publication, conduct likely to cause feàr and pànic, and threàts against a judge at the Adenta Circuit Court.

Baffoe has faced multiple àrrests over the past year. On October 8, 2025, he was held for several hours over comments involving Kennedy Agyapong.

The latest incident follows the earlier àrrest of Abubakar Yakubu, also known as Baba Amando, the Sunyani East Constituency Communications Officer.

Adom News reports that the NPP has critìcised the àrrest, describing it as a limitation on freedom of speech.

It will be recalled that  Abronye DC, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been released by the Ghana Police Service following his arrest on Monday, April 13, 2026.

A viral video shared by TV3 on Monday evening showed the moment Abronye was released by the police.

In the viral video, Abronye was captured in the company of leading figures of the party, including the Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin; Deputy Minority Chief Whip, Jerry Ahmed Shaib; and the National Organiser of the party, Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), and others.

The Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP was released after a bail bond execution by Minority Leader Afenyo-Markin.

Afenyo-Markin also praised the cooperation from the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Director-General of CID, Lydia Donkor.

Abronye’s latest arrest comes after he was picked up by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service over allegations of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace and false publication linked to alleged threats directed at a judge at the Adenta Circuit Court.

Last year, Abronye DC was arrested on 8 October 2025 and granted bail of GH¢1 million with two sureties.

According to reports, Abronye has been re-arrested and charged with two new criminal counts. The court has granted him bail set at GH¢1 million with two sureties for the offences related to false publication and insulting conduct.

Abronye has alleged that his second arrest was orchestrated by the bodyguard of NPP flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong.

This marks the second time in three weeks that Abronye has been arrested.

“We are the risk-takers of the country, we must be protected” – McDan demands

Business magnate Daniel McKorley, popularly known as McDan, has demanded more government protection for Ghanaian local businesses.

McDan detailed that the private sector is the risk-taker of the country, and we must be protected.

According to McDan, Ghana’s economic transformation depends heavily on the strength of the private sector’s ability to invest, innovate and create jobs.

Speaking at the launch of the 10th Ghana CEO Summit in Accra, McDan stated, “Various governments should walk the talk of indigenisation, and it shouldn’t just be rhetoric,” he said. “We need, government needs, to protect the private sector against foreign invasion.”

Describing local businesses as central to the country’s future, he added: “We are the risk-takers of the country, and we must be protected.”

“We have to make sure that we, as captains of industry, are able to absorb the 500,000 unemployed men coming out of the universities year by year,” he said.

“The government creates the normal environment, but it is business that invests, innovates, and creates jobs,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nii Adote Otintor II, the Paramount Chief of the Sempe Traditional Area, Nii Adote Otintor II has told the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) to halt their hostile takeover of McDan Aviation at Terminal 1.

The Sempe Chief called on the GACL to restore McDan Aviation’s access to its FBO terminal, adding that the dispute is resolved through lawful procedures.

In a statement issued from the Sempe Stool on March 14, the Sempe Chief stated, “The events represent not just a breach of contract, but an assault on the very spirit of Ghanaian entrepreneurship and a blatant defiance of our judicial system”.

The Sempe Chief highlighted that the GACL ignored a mandatory 90-day notice period required for eviction under the contractual agreement, adding that the development undermines investments made by local investors, which could deter local entrepreneurs from investing in the country.

“The optics of this takeover are troubling. When local investors feel unsafe in their own country, we kill the motivation for future generations to take plausible investment risks,” he said.

The Chief further called on the Ministry of Transport to intervene by restraining GACL and to reinstate McDan Aviation to its Terminal 1 facility.

The Sempe Chief’s remarks follow the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) announcement that it has ended its Fixed Base Operation (FBO) agreement with McDan Aviation Handling Services Limited.

According to the GACL, the FBO agreement has been terminated due to McDan Aviation’s unpaid licence fees, rent, and royalties.

In August 2022, the agreement was signed, granting McDan Aviation the licence to provide Fixed Base Operation services at designated areas within Terminal 1 of the Accra International Airport.

Under the agreement, McDan Aviation was required to pay licence fees, royalties, and rent to GACL.

GACL revealed that McDan Aviation began defaulting on its payment obligations shortly after the agreement took effect in 2022.

A report by citinews read, “The airport operator said that after several unsuccessful attempts to recover the outstanding debt, access to Terminal 1 was restricted in late 2024. McDan Aviation subsequently settled arrears covering the period from 2022 to 2024, which led to the reopening of the terminal for its operations.

Despite clearing those arrears, GACL said the company again accumulated significant debt due to continued non-payment. The airport authority indicated that no payments were received for rent and royalties throughout 2025, while the operating licence fee due since 2022 also remained outstanding.

In line with the agreement, which requires a 90-day notice period before termination, GACL said it formally notified McDan Aviation on January 10, 2025, to settle the outstanding debt. The company said three additional reminders were issued throughout 2025, urging the firm to meet its financial obligations”.

Solomon Owusu revealed that he was once stabbed in South Africa in an unprovoked attack.

Speaking on the incident on the AM Show on JoyNews, on the xenophobic attacks in South Africa, on April 23, 2026, recounted, “One Sunday in Pretoria, I was going to buy fufu from a Ghanaian joint when I got stabbed”.

In related news, Dr Yirenyi Gyekye Darko, the Chairman of the Ghanaian Community in Mthatha, South Africa, has cried over the growing Xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The  Chairman of the Ghanaian Community in Mthatha, South Africa, detailed that Ghanaians are not safe, adding that other nationals, especially Nigerians and Zimbabweans, are also not safe.

According to him, they are only trusting God for protection.

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Wednesday, April 22, Dr Darko stated, “Ghanaians are not safe. Other nationals, especially Nigerians and Zimbabweans, are also not safe. We are only trusting God for protection. For now, in the Eastern Cape, it is not as extreme as in other provinces, and there has not been recent harassment in Mthatha. But generally, the situation remains worrying”.

“The only reason they give is that foreigners are taking their jobs. That is the main point of contention,” he added.

“We urge officials in Ghana to liaise with the High Commissioner in South Africa so that together they can help bring the situation under control,” he appealed.

Meanwhile, a video has surfaced on social media with some South Africans sacking non-Citizens from a government hospital amid the xenophobic attacks by South Africans.

In the viral video, a man was heard saying, “If you know you’re not a South African citizen, may you please stand up and leave our hospital”.

The group of South Africans demanded that the doctors and nurses at the hospital discharge all foreigners who were receiving treatment, with a man instructing the doctors at the hospital “to stabilise and discharge” the patients to seek medical attention at private health facilities.

According to the South Africans in the viral video, foreigners are not allowed to seek medical attention in public hospitals.

Meanwhile, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, has broken his silence following a viral video of some South Africans confronting a Ghanaian man on the streets.

The Foreign Affairs Minister detailed that he held a telephone conversation with my South African counterpart, His Excellency Ronald Lamola, who has expressed his empathy with the victims and promised full-scale investigations.

According to Ablakwa, Ghana’s diplomatic mission has located the victim in the viral video and offered him consular assistance.

He further disclosed that no Ghanaian life has been lost, adding that the Mahama Administration remains uncompromising about the welfare and safety of Ghanaians both at home and abroad.

In a post shared on X, “I have this morning held a telephone conversation with my South African counterpart, His Excellency Ronald Lamola, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation. I called him on the trending videos about Ghanaians coming under extremely disturbing xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The South African Foreign Minister has expressed his empathy with the victims and promised full-scale investigations into the depressing incidents.

The Government of South Africa is set to hold a briefing with African Ambassadors later today”.

He further added, “I am also able to confirm that since yesterday, I have been in constant contact with Ghana’s High Commissioner in South Africa, His Excellency Benjamin Quarshie, coordinating our response.

I am gladdened that so far, colleagues in our diplomatic mission have located the main victim in the viral video and are offering consular assistance. He is doing very well.

No Ghanaian life has been lost. We urge calm and confidence in our collective capacity to protect Ghanaians”.

Ablakwa further assured Ghanaians, saying, “ Let me assure compatriots that the Mahama Administration remains uncompromising about the welfare and safety of Ghanaians both at home and abroad. We are determined to guarantee the protection of all citizens.

May these regrettable incidents never quench our Pan-African love and solidarity for each other. The overwhelming majority of Africans are united and share an unbreakable bond — we shall not be divided by the hatred of a few fringe elements”.

Former IGP, Paul Tawiah Quaye dead

Reports coming in suggest a former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Paul Tawiah Quaye, has died.

According to sources, former IGP, Paul Tawiah Quaye, died on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the age of 73.

Sources close to the family detailed that the late IGP Quaye had not been well for some time, contributing to his disappearance from the public eye.

The late Paul Tawiah Quaye was born on May 6, 1953.

He was appointed as the Inspector General of Police (IGP), of the Ghana Police Service by the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

Former IGP, Paul Tawiah Quaye, acted as the head of the Ghana Police Service from May 16, 2009, to February 5, 2013.

Reports by Starr FM suggest the family is expected to announce burial and funeral arrangements soon.

In other news, two police officers have reportedly died following a road accident on the Ofoase–Ayirebi road.

The deceased officers have been identified as G/LCpl. Anti Isaac and G/Const. Thomas Allonyor were said to be riding a motorbike when it collided with a packed tricycle.

Reports suggest the officers were off duty at the time of the collision, which reportedly resulted in their deaths.

According to reports, Lance Corporal Anti died instantly at the scene; however, Constable Thomas, who sustained serious injuries and was bleeding heavily, was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the Brenase Health Centre for medical attention.

The information gathered suggests the owner of the tricycle fled the scene after realising that the victims were police officers.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
