BoG Governor over 20 Land Cruiser convoy in Dormaa causes uproar

A video has surfaced of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) Governor, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, with over 20 Land Cruiser convoys in Dormaa Ahenkro, which has caused an uproar on social media.

A viral video shared on X showed a lengthy motorcade of black Toyota Land Cruisers, SUVs, and police escorts travelling through Dormaa Ahenkro during the Bank of Ghana Governor’s courtesy visit to the Dormaahene traditional leader.

The BoG Governor’s over 20 Land Cruiser convoy in Dormaa Ahenkro has caused an uproar among social media users, noting it reportedly includes around 21 vehicles and contrasting it with smaller presidential motorcades while questioning national resource use.

Some netizens reacting to the video stated, “The President of the land no dey move like this!! Wow”.

One X user added,“Weytin dey concern regional people and district people if governor dey come ur area. So they wanna tell us dey don’t have work to do apart from follow follow? 

President must hear and see this.

Black man will always use position to mess up”.

An X user added, “I agree that a common governor is not supposed to move with this number of vehicles, but these are not newly purchased cars. They were acquired by the previous government, and the current administration is simply putting them to use”.

One X user added, “How do we still spend money on these long convoys to visit the place, meanwhile a portion of the expenditure could fix a problem in the said community. No serious country will do such travel with these numbers. Is it that our expenditures don’t match growth”.

“And they will come and tell Ghanaians there is no money to employ the youth.

Such utter nonsense. Some of these people should be using public transport to travel”, an X user added.

A netizen added, “NDC Governor going to meet NDC Chief. What at all will take the Governor to Dormaa? What official business does he have there? Waste of public money. And Ato is telling teachers and nurses to sacrifice for the economy”.

“Are there any officers left to man the shop at the BoG???  Whatever happened to the PNDC days when PNDC Secretaries drove themselves back and forth to their office???”, one X user added.

An X user added, “NDC, we insulted the NPP government for nothing.

Just a common Governor of the Bank of Ghana driving around with such a convoy? Hey Johnson Pandit Asiama, be sensible and reasonable and stop disgracing President Mahama’s government”.

One more Ghanaian added, “H.E. @JDMahama, Is the BoG governor having presidential ambitions? His convoy is larger than urs. We, ur supporters, can only rant. The work only gets harder. U may read n pass, but we do the work. Find a balance and a listening ear n reshuffle before irreparable damage is done”.

This man won’t stay in his office and work, everyday on the move, visiting one Chief after the other. Smh”, a netizen added.
