Former agriculture minister Ibrahim Adam is dead

Ibrahim Adam, a former Minister of Food and Agriculture, has reportedly passed away.

Atta Issah, the Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu, in a Facebook post on August 30, 2026, announced the death of Ibrahim Adam.

The late Ibrahim Adam, who also served as the Member of Parliament for the former Choggu/Tishigu Constituency.

Atta Issah, in a Facebook post, wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Hon. Ibrahim Adam. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family, the people of the Northern Region, and the entire NDC.

From near and afar, I learned much from his wisdom, dedication, and service. May Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him mercy, and receive him into Jannah. Ameen,” he wrote.

Reports disclosed that the late Ibrahim Adam was an animal scientist and veteran politician.

 Ibrahim Adam served as Agriculture Secretary and later as Minister for Food and Agriculture under the administration of former President Jerry John Rawlings.

He also represented the Choggu/Tishigu Constituency in Parliament from 1997 to 2001.

Outside his ministerial and parliamentary service, Ibrahim Adam also served as Board Chairman of the Agricultural Development Bank.

In other sad news, Grace Nortey, a Celebrated Ghanaian veteran actress, has reportedly passed away at the age of 89.

Reports disclosed that Grace Nortey, who was commonly known as ‘Maame Gyata’ died on August 26, 2026, at the UGMC in the early hours of Wednesday.

Grace Nortey was a prominent figure in Ghanaian theatre, television and film for more than five decades, featuring in Ghana’s golden era of television and theatre.

She featured in Obra, Osofo Dadzie, Key Soap Concert Party, Cantata and Thursday Theatre.

The late Grace Nortey also featured in several notable films, like Nana Akoto, Matters of the Heart, Ties That Bind, Sinking Sands, Amakye and Dede, as well as ‘Beasts of No Nation’.

In April 2025, Grace Nortey was among veteran actors honoured at AshantiFest for their contribution to the development of the Ghanaian film industry.

Also, on February 1, 2026, Grace Nortey celebrated her 89th birthday, making a rare public appearance during the occasion.

Grace Nortey’s death marks another major loss to Ghana’s entertainment industry, following her long career that spanned generations.

She is survived by five children, including actress Sheila Nortey, who followed her mother’s footsteps into acting.
