He further recounted, “The then Board Chairman was given an appointment at the presidency, so I went to the former President and told him to look at the possibility for me. He smiled and said he would think about it”.

“That was how I got the position. I enjoyed every bit of it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Adom-Otchere’s leadership at GACL came under public scrutiny over a scandal labelled the “Christmas tree saga,” sparking public debate over the use of public funds for festive decorations at Kotoka International Airport.

He was later cleared by the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) of any wrongdoing.

Also, Sammy Darko Appiah, the Director of Strategy, Research and Communication at the Office of the Special Prosecutor, has revealed that the former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Paul Adom-Otchere, is a key suspect in the OSP’s ongoing investigation.

According to Sammy Darko, the OSP has come across evidence that directly points to certain actions of Adom-Otchere as a board chairman that fall in line with the offences.

“He put out a letter, and those who have read the letter would see that the letter was directing him to come as a suspect because he is a key suspect in the investigation,” he stated.

“As far as the OSP is concerned, we have come across evidence that directly points to certain actions of Mr Adom-Otchere as a board chairman that fall in line with the offences that we are allowed to investigate, and that is what we are investigating,” he added.
