James Agbey alleged that Kwesi Afrey Biney, the Director General of Social Security and National Insurance Trust, turns away party folks simply on the basis that he’s in office to serve Ghana and not the NDC.

In a press statement dated Sunday, May 17, 2026, James Agbey wrote, “Take, for instance, Kwesi Afrey Biney, the Director General of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), who has on numerous occasions turned away party folks simply on the basis that he’s in office to serve Ghana and not the NDC”.

He further stressed, “You’re in power and serving as an appointee because of the toils and sweat of these footsoldiers. The arrogance and disdain must stop, and it must stop now”.

“President Mahama’s message on his investiture on January 7, 2025, was clear, passionate, and deeply resonant; ‘I’ll not tolerate disrespect and arrogance in my government’,” he quoted.

He further generally accused President John Dramani Mahama’s appointees of showing arrogance and disrespect towards the party’s grassroots supporters and foot soldiers.

According to James Agbey, ministers, Chief Executive Officers, and heads of state institutions have become inaccessible.

He further alleged that some of Mahama’s appointees are being indifferent towards party members who worked for the NDC’s return to power.

James Agbey added, “As a longstanding operative, active and loyal member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), I am infuriated by the continuous disdainful attitude of government appointees towards NDC grassroots membership and footsoldiers”.

“Yes, as a high-flying government official and apparatchik, you should always be available to field questions and inquiries, listen to people’s problems, and address their grievances. This is what you’re sworn to do. It is the duty you owe the electorate and party activists who helped propel the party into government,” he said.

He further added that some appointees claim they are in office to serve Ghana and not the NDC footsoldier.

“Therefore, the assertion by some of these appointees that they are in office to serve Ghana and not NDC footsoldiers is arrogance beyond belief. And it makes both the party and government look so ridiculous,” he stated.

He further called on all NDC members to speak against what he described as growing intolerance within the party and government.

Meanwhile, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reminded party members to unite behind President John Mahama’s government to ensure its success and to protect the image of the party.

According to Asiedu Nketia, President Mahama’s fortunes are tied to the NDC’s future success in the next election, reminding party members that if Mahama fails, the embarrassment will be on all of them.

He stressed that the failure of the Mahama administration would not be blamed on Mahama alone but on the entire party.

Asiedu Nketia urged party faithful to remain committed to the ideals of the party and contribute positively toward the government’s agenda.

Speaking during his “Thank You Tour” in the East Gonja Constituency on Thursday, May 14, the NDC Chairman

“Our party members who supported the party to power, we have three years to the end of the tenure of the Mahama government. We need to support the government to succeed,” he said.

“If Mahama fails, the embarrassment will be on all of us; Mahama will not only take the fall, but all of us. We need to support the government’s agenda with all our strength for it to succeed for the betterment of the people,” he added.
