Dennis Miracles Aboagye, an aide to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has shared his harrowing experience of the recent Accra floods, recounting how the disaster swept away everything he owned.
According to Miracles Aboagye, the recent flooding that hit Accra destroyed his residence and displaced his household, losing everything.
Miracles Aboagye narrated that the floodwaters overwhelmed his home, collapsing the main gate.
Speaking on JOYNEWS, Newsfile, Dennis Miracles Aboagye narrated, “I lost everything. I have nothing in my house right now… The house is empty. I have nothing in my house right now. That’s what a lot of people don’t know. In the past, since Monday, we’ve been discussing this on social media, and people really don’t know where I’ve been coming from.
The house is empty,’ We need to start everything all over again from the road to the streets; as a matter of fact, the water broke the main gate, pulling it down. If that water was able to bring the main gate down, it tells you the strength of the water.
The only thing that we were able to save is the human beings who were brought out from the flood,” Abaogye stated.
He further added, “Let me acknowledge the MCE for Tema West and the NADMO team, Police and the district Police command.
“Some of the policemen almost got swept away; in front of my house, the water was at neck level. I wasn’t home at the time when I got the call; the water was rising. I had to rush home; that was when I called the Police. I was shocked that between the time they called me and the time I got home, the water had risen.
He revealed that a volunteer assisting in rescue efforts was bitten by a snake and had to be rushed to hospital.
“One of the volunteers… was bitten by a snake in the flood; he didn’t know; he was standing on my compound, and then he collapsed; we had to rush him to the hospital. As we speak, some of my neighbours are still finding snakes inside their homes it is very, very serious”, he added.
Some Ghanaians reacting to Miracles Aboagye’s harrowing experience stated, “For eight long years, Akufo-Addo and his gang of criminals milked Ghana as if there was no tomorrow.
The money that was supposed to be used for construction 21st century drainage system for our capital has been shared among themselves.
Cecilia Dapaah got her share too”.
A netizen added, “I wish he was telling the truth, like I’ll say it serves him very well! However, a chronic, metastatic, and pathological liar that this one is, he’s apparently doing his usual!”
“We thank God he and his family are safe….moral of the story: when the system fails, no amount of money or political influence will save you….we all Dey inside…if we won’t fix issues..we should be there”, a netizen added.
One last netizen added, “Honourable, please simple question, where is your house located? Are you sure you didn’t build in a waterway? If it isn’t in a waterway then we’re sorry, that’s the mess you people with power created”.
Meanwhile, the Director of Inspectorate at National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Richard Amo Yartey, has confirmed that 34 people have died across the country following the devastating floods on Monday, June 29, 2026.
According to Richard Amo Yartey, 12 of the deaths were recorded in Accra, while the remaining 22 fatalities occurred in other flood-affected parts of the country.
The NADMO Director of Inspectorate stated, “The death toll in Accra is 12, across the country is 34, but it could go up. If we did the matching and realised that some of the people missing have been found dead, then the death toll will increase, and those listed as missing will reduce”.
He further disclosed that NADMO officials remain on the ground in affected communities, searching for missing persons while assisting victims.
“As I speak to you now, the warehouse is busy moving supplies to the distressed. Relief is across the country; we are going to send relief everywhere,” he stated.
NADMO further disclosed that the floods affected seven regions and displaced a total of 89,736 people.
