Kwesi Pratt, the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, has slammed some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over their focus on succeeding President John Dramani Mahama.
According to Kwesi Pratt, some of President Mahama’s appointees are only interested in who will replace him and not his agenda to reset Ghana.
Speaking in a TikTok video, Kwesi Pratt stated, “To be honest, I feel very sad for President John Dramani Mahama. I mean, the betrayal of President John Dramani Mahama is monumental.
“There is a gentleman who came to the people of Ghana and said, look, there are problems with the country, and I want to solve the problems in the educational sector and health sector and so on.
“He proclaimed a reset agenda, and he appointed people to assist him in realising that objective, and many of the people he appointed to help him realise that objective, they don’t just care,” he said.
Kwesi Pratt added, “They don’t care about reset. They don’t care about restructuring the economy. They don’t care about anything. All they care about is replacing him”.
The veteran journalist further expressed sympathy for President Mahama, saying, “What? Poor Mahama. Poor Mahama, and he’s sitting there being held hostage”.
Kwesi Pratt also criticised the party and its members for failing to focus on the 24-hour economy, “Visit the NDC social media platforms and see what is happening there. Who is talking about how to achieve the 24-hour economy? That’s not their concern. It’s about who is going to replace Mahama. It’s so sad. It’s unbelievable,” he added.
In other news, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, the Media personality, has told President John Dramani Mahama he cannot use security and state agencies to silence anyone in the country.
The media personality noted that the use of security agencies to intimidate people does not, in most cases, solve the issues at hand.
According to Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, arrest may only intimidate a few people for some time.
He noted that pockets of violence could continue to build in different places, potentially creating more serious problems.
Speaking on Okay FM on September 17, 2026, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah stated, “If President Mahama does not take care and pull the brakes, but thinks he can use the security and state agencies to oppress the people in the name of silencing them, these things happen most of the time and solve nothing. It will only intimidate a few people for some time.
“Pockets of violence will be building here and there, and one day, if he does not take care, what will happen will be worse than what is already happening. John Mahama cannot use these arrests to intimidate anyone in this country,” he said.
He further cautioned, “ You can speak your mind, but let me say, for instance, that the choice of words I will use will be very different. When I was younger, I did some of the things a young person may do, but as I am older now, I will do things how older people will do them.
“What I have learned about politics is that if you really do not understand politics, if you speak and get to a certain point, you exhaust your words, and that is where the insults come in. But if you learn and have a lot of conversations, because you have learnt a lot, you will have lots to say in lengthy political discussions, and you wouldn’t insult,” he added.
