A video has surfaced of a group of armed men allegedly storming the Zohe E.P. Primary and Junior High School in Yendi, firing gunshots on the school grounds.
In the viral video, two armed men walk onto the school premises and discharge shots into the air, with students and teachers seen screaming and running in terror.
It is yet to be established what the motive behind the attack was.
The viral video has sparked widespread outrage online, with some netizens reacting to the viral video saying, “@modghana @GhPoliceService @GhArmedForces Are you people seeing this? Should we wait for Ghana to turn into Nigeria before we take action on these people?”
A netizen added, “What exactly are they trying to achieve with this? To incite a war to begin, or what?
Our young men really need some meaningful purpose to occupy them; without that, this is some of the things they do”.
“The government that can take care of this stupidity won’t do it because it’s now getting started. Until we get one corrupt party government official to govern us for 4 years, then they turn Ghana to a bandit country like Nigeria. It’s really sad”, one X user added.
“You know nigerians keeps warming us, because that is how it started over there. There needs to be serious military supervision up north”, a netizen added.
One X user added, “What is the back story? This should not be allowed. I trust @GhPoliceService to do the needful. The school environment and everybody should feel safe in going about their daily activities”.
One netizen added, “Exactly what Prophet Roja was looking for the interior and defence minister to tell them, but no one would listen ! Ghana has prophets, but we dishonour them! May the Lord help us”.
An X user added, “They said they will make the country ungovernable for the government, and no one was arrested and shot in the head; we will be stupid and behave like animals till thy kingdom come, North Korea you can’t even say that; how can someone say they will make a country ungovernable”.
“What? School shooting in Ghana? @GhPoliceService, please respond swiftly and decisively, arrest those responsible and nip this in the bud before it escalates into a pattern”, a netizen added.
Meanwhile, reports suggest the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has directed the Ghana Police Service to immediately investigate the shooting incident.
