Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah, popularly known as Benghazi, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team member, has issued a stern warning to a threat to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah, members of the NPP would burn down the NDC headquarters if another NPP member were arrested.
He argued that the ruling government has been unlawfully arresting members of the NPP, adding that under the former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, members of the NDC were not subjected to such arrests.
Speaking during a discussion on Onua FM, Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah stated, “If they continue to arrest our members, the next time such a thing happens, we will burn down the NDC headquarters. I know what I am saying is a threat, but are the things they are doing not also threats? Those days when they could intimidate us are gone.
“Did you ever see President Akufo-Addo arresting people during our time? The Rawlings era is long gone. I am repeating that the next time they arrest our members, we will burn down their headquarters, and that will be our first warning,” he said.
The NPP man further accused the National Peace Council and other state institutions of remaining silent while NPP members are being intimidated.
“The Peace Council and other state elders are sitting quietly while these things happen. As they continue arresting members of the NPP, nobody is saying anything. This is a warning because we are tired of staying silent for a long time,” he added.
When asked to retract the statement and apologise, Gyewu-Appiah refused, saying, “No, I won’t apologise. Let them go and arrest another NPP member, and we shall see”.
Meanwhile, Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has warned the John Mahama-led government that they will weaponise our support base and make this country extremely ungovernable.
According to Salam Mustapha, if the nonsense doesn’t stop, the NPP will weaponise their support base and make this country extremely ungovernable for them.
He made comments when the NPP paid a courtesy visit to the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
Salam Mustapha accused the Mahama government of targeting members of the opposition party.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Salam Mustapha warned, “If this nonsense doesn’t stop, we will weaponise our support base and make this country extremely ungovernable for them”.
“We are sending this warning and caution to the government to release Abronye; otherwise, should anything happen to Abronye in custody, you’ll have us to contend with,” he added.
“And this constant harassment and intimidation of NPP people, if you people don’t stop it, we’ll make sure that we react in such a way that you will not be happy with us,” he stated.
“You have a country to govern, and we are here to support you and give you the best of advice from an opposition point of view. If you turn us into enemies, we will give you rebellion,” he said.
