‘Stop the arrogance and disdain now’ – Mahama’s appointees slammed

0

James Agbey, an operative and a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has slammed some appointees of President John Dramani Mahama.

The NDC man accused President John Dramani Mahama’s appointees of showing arrogance and disrespect towards the party’s grassroots supporters and footsoldiers.

According to James Agbey, ministers, Chief Executive Officers, and heads of state institutions have become inaccessible.

He further alleged that some of Mahama’s appointees are being indifferent towards party members who worked for the NDC’s return to power.

In a press statement dated Sunday, May 17, 2026, James Agbey wrote, “As a longstanding operative, active and loyal member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), I am infuriated by the continuous disdainful attitude of government appointees towards NDC grassroots membership and footsoldiers”.

“Yes, as a high-flying government official and apparatchik, you should always be available to field questions and inquiries, listen to people’s problems, and address their grievances. This is what you’re sworn to do. It is the duty you owe the electorate and party activists who helped propel the party into government,” he said.

He further added that some appointees claim they are in office to serve Ghana and not the NDC footsoldier.

“Therefore, the assertion by some of these appointees that they are in office to serve Ghana and not NDC footsoldiers is arrogance beyond belief. And it makes both the party and government look so ridiculous,” he stated.

James Agbey further mentioned Kwesi Afrey Biney, the Director General of Social Security and National Insurance Trust, for turning away party folks simply on the basis that he’s in office to serve Ghana and not the NDC.

“Take, for instance, Kwesi Afrey Biney, the Director General of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), who has on numerous occasions turned away party folks simply on the basis that he’s in office to serve Ghana and not the NDC,” he alleged.

He further stressed, “You’re in power and serving as an appointee because of the toils and sweat of these footsoldiers. The arrogance and disdain must stop, and it must stop now”.

“President Mahama’s message on his investiture on January 7, 2025, was clear, passionate, and deeply resonant; ‘I’ll not tolerate disrespect and arrogance in my government’,” he quoted.

He further called on all NDC members to speak against what he described as growing intolerance within the party and government.

In related news, Joshua Akamba, a former National Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said there is one particular Minister who is so arrogant.

The NDC man highlighted that 99 per cent of John Mahama’s ministers are humble, but this particular person is so arrogant.

According to Joshua Akamba, he wants to expose the minister when the person is in front of the President.

Speaking on Metro TV, Good Afternoon, Joshua Akamba stated, “There is one Minister who is so arrogant”.

When pushed by the host after mentioning the names of Ablakwa, Sam George, and the Lands Minister, Akamba responded, saying, “Those people cannot be arrogant”.

“There was something that came up that I said we should name and shame. That agenda will be triggered soon. If I mention the Ministry, then you will know the person”.

He further added, “Akandoh, that is a good guy, he is somebody you call, he sees your call and rushes to pick it. About 99 per cent of President Mahama’s appointees are humble. I will come up with it later. I am dealing with it in a way. I want to do the exposure of the person in front of the president when they are together, then the news will come out about it”.

Dr Sledge’s wife, ‘SWEATS’ as she is unable to explain over US$90 million found in her account

Reports gathered suggest Nana Ama Osei-Bonsu, known as “Queen Amadia”, the wife of Goldridge Chief Executive Officer (CEO)Sledge Duodu, popularly known as Dr Sledge, after her arrest, is struggling to explain over US$90 million found in her account.

According to The Herald, millions of dollars have been found in the accounts of Queen Amadia after she was arrested at the Accra International Airport on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

The report detailed that Queen Amadia has been in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) since her arrest.

The Herald alleged that Dr Sledge’s wife is struggling to account for the source of funds estimated at more than US$90 million.

They further detail that Queen Amadia, as of Friday, 15 May 2026, is still in EOCO custody after failing to satisfy her bail conditions, including securing legal representation.

“There are also reports that additional sums, running into the millions of dollars, have been identified in several bank accounts.

There are suspicions that the funds identified in her bank accounts could be linked to Goldridge Refinery Limited”, The Herald added.

Reports also alleged that the marriage between Queen Amadia and Dr Sledge, reportedly his second marriage, is said to be on the rocks. There have been allegations that  Dr Sledge’s wife moved out of their matrimonial home several months ago.

It will be recalled that news broke last week that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) had arrested Queen Amadia, the wife of Goldridge CEO Sledge Duodu, popularly known as Dr Sledge.

Reports suggest that Queen Amadia was arrested at the Accra International Airport on 12 May 2026.

Dr Sledge’s wife, according to reports, was reportedly intercepted while allegedly attempting to leave the country, amid ongoing investigations involving Dr Sledge by the Office of the Special Prosecutor over transactions linked to the Minerals Income Investment Fund.

In September 2025, Dr Sledge was detained by the OSP after he reportedly failed to meet bail conditions.

He was later released from the custody of the OSP after meeting his bail conditions on Monday, September 29.

Dr Sledge is under investigation for suspected corruption and corruption-related offences linked to the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF), gold trade programme.

Earlier that year, in February 2025, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, revealed the probe into the alleged corruption at the MIIF, alleging that over $94 million in state funds were lost through Goldridge Refinery’s failure to honour trade settlements under the Gold for Oil initiatives.

The OSP then stormed the Trassaco residence of Nana Yaw Duodu, also known as Dr Sledge and his East Legon offices of Goldridge Company Limited.

The OSP raids follow ongoing investigations into the $94 million Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) gold trade programme.

According to the OSP, the raid was conducted under warrants issued by the High Court in Accra, which target suspected corruption and corruption-related offences.

The OSP search led to the seizure of luxury vehicles, jewellery, firearms, and documents connected to landed properties linked to the $94m MIIF Probe.

A post by the OSP on social media read, “As part of ongoing investigations, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) today conducted searches at the Trassaco residence of Nana Yaw Duodu, also known as Dr Sledge, and at the East Legon offices of Goldridge Company Limited. The searches were carried out under warrants issued by the High Court in Accra.

Nana Yaw Duodu is under investigation for suspected corruption and corruption-related offences linked to the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) gold trade programme, which allegedly caused a loss of US$94 million to the State.

The OSP’s Asset Recovery and Management Team seized several items, including luxury vehicles, jewellery, weapons, and documents relating to landed properties”.

“Your grassroots bleeding and crying” – NDC told

0

Nana Adjei, a New Patriotic Party(NPP) communicator, has boldly told the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) that their grassroots are bleeding and crying.

The NPP highlighted that the dissatisfaction and hardship within the country are affecting even supporters within the ruling party.

According to Nana Adjei, there is frustration within the NDC grassroots due to unmet expectations by the John Mahama government.

He further quizzed the John Mahama-led government on where their flagship 24-Hour Economy policy is.

The NPP man slammed the government over the implementation of its proposed 24-hour economy policy, highlighting that it has been all talk and no results.

He further quizzed why the 24-hour secretariat responsible for the policy operates within normal working hours despite promoting a 24-hour work system.

Speaking on Angel FM in Kumasi, Nana Adjei stated, “The 24-hour economy secretariat works from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you are preaching a 24-hour economy, then show it by example”.

“It has been 16 months, and they have done nothing. They promised Ghanaians this, and they have still not delivered,” he said.

Nana Adjei added, “The promise was not about building markets. There is no evidence yet for what they promised”.

He further questioned some initiatives and structures that the governing National Democratic Congress promised Ghanaians.

“The women’s bank, they promised, where is it?” he asked.

“Even within the NDC party, people are suffering. There are no jobs for anyone,” he alleged.

“Nothing is going well at that party. The grassroots are bleeding and crying,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, the Member of Parliament for Yapei Kusawgu and Minister for Energy, has told disgruntled supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to exercise patience with the government.

The Yapei Kusawgu MP acknowledged growing expectations for jobs and economic support but urged supporters not to resort to violence.

Speaking to NDC party faithful during the NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah’s thank-you tour in the Savannah Region, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor stated, “I will plead with you to be patient with the government. We are barely two years in office. We know you need jobs, we know you need businesses”.

John Jinapor highlighted that the Mahama government has already begun implementing interventions to support farmers and improve livelihoods.

He stated, “This year, I have funded the purchase of 2,000 bags of fertiliser and 2,000 bags of weedicides to help farmers. So please exercise patience for the party”.

“If we are sharing while in office, it is just a matter of time, everybody will get some, but when we use violence, and it lands the party in opposition, it will be our loss,” he added.

Dr Sledge’s wife still languishing in EOCO custody

“No funds released, disbursed or expended” – Communication Ministry on allegation of Sam George blowing public funds

0

The Ministry for Communication and Digital Technology has issued a statement debunking claims suggesting the Minister of Communication, Sam George, has blown public funds.

According to the Communications Ministry, the document in circulation is an extract from a broader official submission seeking Commitment Authorisation from the Ministry of Finance.

They detailed that the Commitment Authorisation request is yet to receive approval from the Ministry of Finance, adding that “no funds have been released, disbursed or expended in relation to the items referenced in the circulating document”.

In a press statement issued to all media houses, the Ministry of Communication stated, “The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MOCDTI) has taken notice of a document circulating on social media, accompanied by claims that the Minister, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), has “blown” public funds.

The document in circulation is an extract from a broader official submission seeking Commitment Authorisation from the Ministry of Finance, in line with established public financial management and procurement procedures, and based on budgetary allocations duly approved by Parliament for the 2026 fiscal year.

The request covers a range of planned projects, operational activities and programme interventions to be undertaken by the Ministry within the year under review.

It is important to emphasise that the said Commitment Authorisation request is yet to receive approval from the Ministry of Finance. Consequently, no funds have been released, disbursed or expended in relation to the items referenced in the circulating document.

The Ministry therefore describes the claims suggesting that public funds have already been squandered as inaccurate, misleading and devoid of context and must be treated with the contempt it deserves.

The Ministry remains committed to transparency, accountability and strict adherence to all public financial management regulations in the execution of its mandate”.

The statement follows a document circulating on social media, which alleged that Sam George has blown GHC 2 Million on SIM Re-Registration Consultancy and another GHC 5.2 Million on Transaction Advisor through sole sourcing.

Ghana Today, in a post on X, wrote, “Sam George blows GHC 2 Million on consultancy services for Sim Re-Registration, GHC 5.2 Million on Transaction Advisor through sole sourcing”.

In another allegation, Ghana Today alleged, saying, “Sam George blows another GHC10 Million on cars for supervisors of One Million Coders Programme, GHC 50 Million on supervision, GHC1.3 Million on office equipment, and GHC1 Million on Air Tickets for trainers”.

Meanwhile, Sam Nartey George, the Minister for Communication and Digital Technology, has announced that the registration portal for the One Million Coders Programme is now live.

The Communication urged Ghanaians to take advantage of this opportunity to get “skilled, upskilled, or reskilled”.

In a post shared on X, Sam George wrote, “The registration portal for the One Million Coders Programme is now live.

Take advantage of this opportunity to get skilled, upskilled, or reskilled.

For God and Country.”

“He’s a shame” – Afenyo-Markin attacks Judge in Abronye case

0

Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP), has launched yet another attack on a judge, this time around the circuit court judge handling the case of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, commonly known as Abronye DC.

The minority leader, speaking at a press briefing on May 17, 2026, fired shots at the circuit court judge, alleging that he doubts whether the judge passed his law exams.

According to Afenyo-Markin, he will continue to disrespect the circuit court judge until he upholds the law, alleging that the judge has no respect for his own judicial oath.

Speaking at a press briefing on May 17, 2026, Afenyo-Markin stated, “That judge has no respect for his own judicial oath. I don’t think he read the law. That circuit court judge called Niger. I have no respect for him. For a judge to say that he’s remanding him into BNI custody until the case is finally determined, such a judge can never have my respect.

“I pray that he summons me for contempt. I will continue to disrespect him until he upholds the law. He’s gone beyond his judicial function, and it is not his first time. It’s as if he has been selected purposely to achieve this. He doesn’t talk law. I don’t know whether he ever passed his law exams. He’s a shame,” he fumed.

Afenyo-Markin added, “It’s a shame on the judiciary, and my Lord Baffoe must pay attention to this, for whatever it is, it’s about his legacy. I’m told that by December, he will be 70, and he will be gone. Is that the legacy he wants to leave after Torkornoo was booted out of office and all manner of accusations levelled against Torkornoo? Is that the judiciary?

“The judiciary, they said, they were going to reset. Is that a reset? Where a judge will say he is remanding an accused person because if he allows him to go home, if he grants him bail, he’s likely to talk again, so he should remain in custody?” he said.

His comments follow Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, who has been rearrested today, Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Reports suggest that Abronye has been remanded for two weeks as investigations continue into allegations of misinformation and offensive public statements.

The information gathered suggests that authorities have now taken him back into custody as security agencies intensify investigations into the allegations against him.

It will be recalled that Abronye DC was released by the Ghana Police Service following his arrest on Monday, April 13, 2026.

A viral video shared by TV3 on Monday evening showed the moment Abronye was released by the police.

In the viral video, Abronye was captured in the company of leading figures of the party, including the Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin; Deputy Minority Chief Whip, Jerry Ahmed Shaib; and the National Organiser of the party, Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), and others.

Meanwhile, it will be recalled that veteran broadcaster Kwesi Pratt had earlier issued a stern warning to Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader, following his scathing attack on Ghana’s judiciary following the Tamale High Court’s decision.

According to Kwesi Pratt, Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s allegations against the Judiciary as working in the interest of their paymaster are unfair and a clear contempt.

Speaking during a panel discussion on Metro TV on December 10, 2025, Pratt stated, “Now, you see, so many things have changed over the years. Some of the things that happened yesterday in the 1960s and 1970s would have resulted in people going to prison today for contempt. There’s an application before the Court of Appeal, 24 hours before the court sits”.

He continued, “Somebody who is a lawyer addresses a press conference and is warning the Court of Appeal judges not to take a certain position. That’s clear contempt. Clear contempt.

“Who are you, before the judges have heard the case to hold a press conference to warn the judges that they must take a particular decision or that you will hold them responsible for the chaos that will happen in the country and that if they take a certain line of action or a certain decision, they will be seen as being manipulated by the Executive”.

Kwesi Pratt added, “It’s a bad comment, and it’s an insult to the bench. That is a serious allegation to say that justices are pandering to their paymasters, suggest a serious case of corruption and bribery.

“The Chief Justice should be calling for an investigation into the matter, bring the fact to show that Judges are being paid to take a certain decision. If the bench were to take such a position, people would end up in jail”.

“Where you’re going is very slippery. To accuse a Judge of Judges of pandering to their paymaster is a serious allegation which cannot be taken lightly, and yet people hold press conferences, make this statement and walk back home. It is unfair to the Judges”.

It has been 16 months, where is the 24-Hour Economy? – Mahama gov’t quizzed

0

Nana Adjei, a New Patriotic Party(NPP) communicator, has quizzed the John Mahama-led government on where their flagship 24-Hour Economy policy is.

Also, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, has told the John Mahama-led government not to reduce the 24-Hour Economy intellectual masturbation.

According to Kwsi Pratt, the 24-Hour Economy initiative risks being reduced to what he labels as ‘intellectual masturbation’ if authorities fail to act decisively.

He highlighted that the concept is not theoretical but requires immediate, practical implementation instead.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on May 6, 2026, Kwesi Pratt stated, “It should not, again, I’m going to use a word, please forgive me if it’s inappropriate… it should not be reduced to intellectual masturbation. It’s a practical thing”.

He highlighted that Ghana already has the ministries, departments and agencies capable of running round-the-clock operations, adding that the government must avoid delays caused by bureaucratic processes.

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has officially signed the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill into law on Thursday, February 19.

The signing paves the way for the full implementation of the Mahama government’s flagship economic policy.

According to John Mahama, the 24-hour economy authority will now have to move from strategy to implementation following his signing of the bill into law.

However, Mark Badu Aboagye, the CEO of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), has warned the John Mahama government that the 24-Hour Economy is turning into another policy slogan.

According to the GNCCI CEO, if the former Akufo-Addo governments had even implemented just 50% of their 1D1F, all of Ghana’s employment issues would have been solved.

He explained policies like the 24-hour economy are well thought through, but suffer from poor implementation.

“Poor Mahama, his appointees don’t care about his RESET agenda” – Kwesi Pratt

0

Kwesi Pratt Jnr, a Veteran journalist and political commentator, has fired shots at President John Dramani Mahama’s appointees.

According to Kwesi Pratt, Mahama’s appointees are dancing around him in circles, making nonsense of all his proclamations.

He stressed that President Mahama’s appointees don’t care about the Reset agenda of his supposed legacy term, adding that they are more focused on succession battles than helping him deliver on his promises to Ghanaians.

He recounted that President Mahama came to solve Ghana’s problems, but many of the people he appointed do not care about the Reset Agenda.

Kwesi Pratt highlighted that President Mahama is being politically undermined by people within his own government who are more focused on succeeding him.

Speaking in an interview on PanAfrica TV, Kwesi Pratt argued, “To be honest, I feel very sad for President John Dramani Mahama; the betrayal of President John Dramani Mahama is monumental”.

“This is a gentleman who came to the people of Ghana and said, ‘ Look, there are problems with the country, and I want to solve the problems in the educational sector, health sector and so on. He proclaimed a reset agenda,” he stated.

He added, “And he appointed people to assist him to realise that objective. Many of the people he appointed to help him realise that objective don’t just care. They don’t care about reset. They don’t care about restructuring the economy. All they care about is replacing him”.

“Poor Mahama. Poor Mahama. And he’s sitting there being held hostage,” he said.

“He’s not been able to crack the whip. They’re dancing around him in circles and making nonsense of all the proclamations he has made. It’s unbelievable,” Pratt added.

“Visit the NDC social media platforms and see what is happening there. Who is talking about how to achieve the 24-hour economy? That’s not their concern. It’s about who is going to replace Mahama,” he said.

“So the people he appointed to help him leave a legacy are saying to us, ‘Oh, don’t worry, very soon you’ll become a lame duck. That’s what they say. They say, ‘By next year, you’ll be a lame dog. You have no power. We don’t have to respect him. So let’s start our campaign,” he added.

Meanwhile, it will be recalled, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader of Parliament, has predicted that by mid 2026, President John Mahama will become a lame-duck president.

According to Afenyo-Markin, the NDC is divided; he alleged that the party has its candidate while the presidency is also fielding its own candidate for the elections.

Afenyo-Markin alleged that Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has chosen Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Education, as her running mate.

The minority leader alleged that President Mahama will become a lame-duck president because the NDC will be fighting over who succeeds him.

Speaking at a press conference on January 26, 2026, Afenyo-Markin stated, “The NDC also have a leadership contest ahead of them, which is very messy.

The NDC is divided because of power. Today, Asiedu Nketiah says he is going on a ‘thank you’ tour; what we have seen is that the government has its own preferred candidate for the flagbearer and the party also have their own choice of flagbearer”.

Afenyo-Markin further added, “ By mid-year, President Mahama will become a lame-duck president because everyone is fighting for power. The Vice President also wants to become president. Recently, we heard that she has chosen Haruna Iddrisu as her running mate”.

“We have also heard that the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, is going to contest, and his running mate is Fifii Kwetey, the NDC General Secretary. The majority leader and Ablakwa are also doing their personal permutation. Also, the finance minister is preparing his running mate”.

“I studied law; If I’m not a lawyer, Kwamena Ahwoi isn’t one” – Adom-Otchere defends his legal credentials

0

Paul Adom-Otchere, a renowned broadcaster, has pushed back against claims about his legal credentials.

The veteran journalist insists that he holds an LLB from the University of Ghana, comparing his status to respected legal academics who are not practising lawyers.

Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV, Paul Adom-Otchere argued, “There are people who were in class with me. Yes, I studied law. I have a law degree from the University of Ghana, an LLB. I was in the second batch of postgraduate students in 2001. So, that is about it”.

“So, one day they said I’m not a lawyer, then I said to them, ‘If I’m not a lawyer, Kwamena Ahwoi too is not a lawyer.’ Nobody has come back after that. And I say it again, if I’m not a lawyer, then Kwamena Ahwoi, they call him a law professor, he too is not a lawyer,” he argued.

Paul Adom-Otchere added, “If Kwamena Ahwoi wants to practise, can he?”

“The law that they say he is a professor, and I agree, Kwamena Ahwoi is one of the best legal brains, is not a lawyer. If Paul Adom Ochere is not a lawyer, Kwamena Ahwoi, one of the best legal brains, is also not a lawyer. There are others I can mention, but they are not in public life”, he added.

In recent times, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has clashed with Ghanaian broadcaster, Paul Adom-Otchere, following a viral video of the minister in a jovial mood, teasing a portrait of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Asokwa Interchange.

The Ashanti Regional Minister in the viral video was touring ongoing painting works in Kumasi when he paused at the portrait of the former president, bowing slightly before the artwork.

However, Paul Adom-Otchere, speaking on his Good Evening Ghana show, heavily criticised the minister by questioning his doctoral credentials.

Paul Adom-Otchere highlighted that the Ashanti Regional Minister does not present himself as a medical doctor.

According to him, Dr Frank Amoakohene’s level of reasoning is below standard.

Paul Adom-Otchere, speaking on his Good Evening Ghana show, stated, “I saw that he posted something on social media, pretending to tease us. We didn’t engage because we are not about teasing people; we are about thinking and making things happen.

“I don’t know what he did before entering politics, but I know his doctorate is not in medicine. In tech, you can complete a four-year programme and be called a doctor, but it is not medicine… I get the sense that he is playing and not serious. I am not sure he belongs to a group of young people we should have confidence in,” he said.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, in a Facebook post, later hit back at Paul Adom-Otchere.

Dr Amoakohene rejected Paul Adom-Otchere’s claims, insisting that he is a certified medical doctor and not a school dropout, like he was.

According to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Paul Adom-Otchere could not complete his law education.

In his Facebook post, he wrote, “Tell ‘Christmas Tree’ that I am a medical doctor. I am not a dropout like him, who could not complete his law education. When you had the opportunity, you chose to sell Christmas trees.

“I chose to be innovative, so if you want to defame me, at least do your due diligence. Below is my academic background at 35. I dare ‘Christmas Tree’ to share his academic background at 51 and explain why he was sacked from law school,” he stated.

The Ashanti Regional Minister further rejected claims by Adom-Otchere that the New Patriotic Party (NPP), under the administration of John Agyekum Kufuor, completed the Asokwa Interchange.

“‘Christmas Tree’, facts: The Asokwa Interchange was started by President Kufuor in June 2008, six months to the elections, and completed by President John Evans Atta Mills in October 2011. Keep these facts, because one day the Suame Interchange will be wholly claimed by people like ‘Christmas Tree’,” he stated.

Ghana’s IMF programme has not concluded – IMF Chief for Ghana clarifies

0

Ruben Atoyan, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission Chief for Ghana, has clarified that Ghana’s IMF Programme has not concluded.

He revealed that Ghana’s Extended Credit Facility (ECF) programme has not officially ended yet, despite the recent staff-level agreement last week.

In a yet-to-be aired JoyNews’ PM Express, Ruben Atoyan disclosed that the IMF is expected to present Ghana’s sixth and final programme review.

According to Ruben Atoyan, the IMF board will decide Ghana’s final review and new PCI deal on July 27.

He disclosed that once the Board approves the report, the final tranche of more than $318 million under Ghana’s bailout programme will hit the account of the Bank of Ghana.

Speaking in the yet-to-be aired JoyNews’ PM Express, the IMF Mission Chief for Ghana stated, “What happened in Accra was a staff-level agreement, and not a programme conclusion”.

“This should mean the IMF team and Government of Ghana have reached an understanding on policies needed to complete this review,” he added.

“We had the opportunity to engage cocoa farmers, power producers and some gold refinery as well,” he said.

“We are hopeful that by July 27, all commitments have been undertaken by the Government, so we can secure the necessary approvals,” he stated.

He further highlighted the IMF mission to Ghana as “very fruitful”.

His comments follow, the Government of Ghana, led by President John Dramani Mahama, has announced the successful conclusion of Ghana’s Extended Credit Facility programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

According to the Government of Ghana, the country’s plans are to transition away from a financial bailout arrangement toward a non-financing policy support framework.

In a statement issued by Presidential Spokesperson and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu read, “1. The Government of Ghana announces the successful conclusion of its Extended Credit Facility (ECF) financial bailout programme with the International Monetary Fund.

2. This milestone represents the restoration of macroeconomic stability and debt sustainability. well ahead of the original timeline.

3. Following the derailment of the IMF financial bailout programme at the end of 2024, the government of President John Mahama in 2025 acted decisively to bring it back on track and to recalibrate it by implementing a frontloaded fiscal consolidation, bold expenditure rationalisation, and strong structural reforms.

4. These efforts have delivered tangible results: inflation has reduced significantly, the cedi has strengthened markedly, public debt as a share of GDP has declined sharply, and economic growth has rebounded strongly

5. Ghana’s sovereign credit ratings have improved significantly from restricted default (Junk Status) to ‘B’ with a positive outlook, representing five distinct rating levels upgrades.

6. This reflects improved fiscal performance, normalised creditor relations, stronger external buffers, and renewed market confidence

7. Ghana’s gross international reserves have risen to an all-time high, reaching approximately US$14.5 billion by February 2026, almost 6-months of import cover.

8. These foreign exchange reserve buffers provide Ghana with the capacity to withstand external shocks and stand on its own feet

9. This announcement marks the definitive end of Ghana’s financial bailout relationship with the IMF.

10. Government is exceedingly grateful to the people of Ghana for their sacrifices, resilience and forbearance.

11. The Government also expresses deep gratitude to its bilateral creditors, the Official Creditor Committee (OCC) and external and domestic investors for their collective sacrifice.

12. Going forward, Ghana will engage with the IMF Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI)

13. The PCI is a form of Technical Assistance engagement with the IMF. It is a non-financing instrument designed to help countries implement economic reforms, signal commitment to policies, and unlock financing from private investors and other development partners.

14. For the avoidance of doubt, the PCI does not provide a financial bailout, but will offer continuous tapacity development, confidence boost to the market, and deliver a catalytic effect for fresh financing to Ghana.

15. This Non-bailout Technical Assistance Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI) will complement the government’s effort to achieve an Investment Grade rating.

16. Achieving an Investment Grade rating will significantly lower sovereign and private sector borrowing costs, attract long-term institutional investors, increase foreign direct investment, and unlock cheaper financing for critical infrastructure development and private sector growth

17. Ultimately, this engagement will support the government’s effort to accelerate sustainable development, create jobs and raise living standards for all Ghanaians

18. President John Mahama and his administration remain fully committed to good governance, prudent economic management, fiscal discipline, and creating an attractive environment for both domestic and international investment”, the statement concluded.

Ex-NAFCO Boss and wife hit with 20 new charges of alleged theft, fraud, and money laundering

0

Hanan Abdul-Wahab, the former National Food and Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) Chief Executive Officer and his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni, have been hit with 20 new charges.

Reports suggest the Office of the Attorney General and the Ministry of Justice have filed 20 new charges against the ex-NAFCO boss.

According to court documents filed at the High Court in Accra on May 15, 2026, Hanan Abdul-Wahab and his wife will return to court facing 20 charges of alleged theft, fraud, and money laundering exceeding GHC 60 million.

State prosecutors allege that Mr Abdul-Wahab illegally obtained GH¢734,400 from NAFCO in 2017 under the pretext of rent payments purportedly covering two years from May 2017 to May 2019, adding that the payments were processed under questionable circumstances.

Also, the Attorney General’s office alleges that between September 2018 and August 2019, more than GH¢3.34 million was diverted to Alqarni Enterprise, a company said to be owned by Mr Abdul-Wahab’s wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni.

Investigators claim the payments were made for purported food supply contracts that prosecutors now describe as fraudulent.

Court filings indicate that the alleged transactions were processed under the guise of legitimate procurement arrangements. Investigators alleged that the contracts lacked proper justification and claimed it was designed to siphon state funds for personal gain.

The Attorney General’s office further highlighted that the Former NAFCO boss concealed the origins of the funds, leading to the additional money laundering charges contained in the latest charge sheet.

The development comes after the Attorney General and Minister of Justice have withdrawn all charges against the accused persons in the Buffer Stock case.

According to a report by TheLawPlatform in a post on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, the Attorney General’s withdrawal of all charges in the GH¢78 million Buffer Stock case follows procedural setbacks suffered in previous proceedings.

Former NAFCO CEO Abdul-Wahab Hanan, who was the first accused, was represented by former Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame, while the counsel for the second accused person was Augustine Obour.

The Deputy Attorney-General, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, in a post on Facebook, informed the court that the prosecution had decided to discontinue proceedings against the accused persons following the emergence of fresh evidence.

“Following the discovery of fresh evidence, we have, a while ago, withdrawn from the prosecution of all the Accused Persons in the case of THE REPUBLIC v HANAN ABDUL-WAHAB ALUDIBA and 4 OTHERS. This is to afford each of the Accused Persons a fair and a more speedy trial in accordance with the Constitution,” he stated in a post on X.

Dr Justice Srem-Sai explained that the decision was intended to ensure that each of the accused persons is given “a fair and speedy trial in accordance with the Constitution.”

Meanwhile, Justice Srem-Sai, a Deputy Attorney General, has disclosed that the state has a strong case against the accused persons in the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) case.

According to the Deputy AG,  the decision to discontinue all charges against the former NAFCO boss and his wife in an ongoing criminal case is consistent with standard criminal procedure.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, May 7, Dr Srem-Sai stated, “You cannot just come to court when you have fresh evidence in a criminal trial and start throwing around the evidence”.

“You need to hear from the accused persons regarding the fresh evidence. That will inform your final decision whether you will charge the person or not. But to say that fresh evidence is not available merely because you don’t have it is completely improper and unethical.”

“It is part of criminal procedure to do that whenever you have fresh evidence. I don’t know why this has become an issue for the former Attorney General, who should know better, to be lamenting across the media, making the same point,” he added.

“The betrayal of President Mahama is monumental” – Kwesi Pratt fumes

0

Kwesi Pratt Jnr, a Veteran journalist and political commentator, has said he feels very sad for President John Dramani Mahama.

According to Kwesi Pratt, the betrayal of President John Dramani Mahama is monumental.

He recounted that President Mahama came to solve Ghana’s problems, but many of the people he appointed do not care about the Reset Agenda.

Kwesi Pratt highlighted that President Mahama is being politically undermined by people within his own government who are more focused on succeeding him.

Speaking in an interview shared on Facebook, Kwesi Pratt fumed, “To be honest, I feel very sad for President John Dramani Mahama; the betrayal of President John Dramani Mahama is monumental”.

In related news, Joshua Akamba, a former National Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged President John Dramani Mahama to reshuffle some arrogant ministers in government.

According to Joshua Akamba, some ministers need to be reshuffled to save the face of the Mahama government.

Joshua Akamba detailed that he has two ministers whom he thinks must be removed, but he did not mention their names.

Speaking on Atinka TV, Joshua Akamba stated, “I am saying that check the people that you’ve appointed. Where we say we must allow our institutions to work. Let no Minister try to over-influence those institutions, and he has people checking that.

For me, there are two or three ministers I would love to see being shifted from their position,” he told Atinka TV in an interview.

He added,  “It is arrogance of power, when it gets to the time…You know me, I’ve never been a coward. When it got to the time that everyone thought Nana Addo was a terrorist as a president, I spoke my mind in this country”.

Also, the Chief Executive Officer of the Buan Bay Herbal and Spiritual Centre, Dr Nana Guan Bay, has told President John Dramani Mahama to reshuffle his ministers by June 2026.

According to Dr Nana Guan Bay, President John Mahama must reshuffle his appointees by June, or else he will be embarrassed by some of his ministerial appointees.

Speaking in an interview on Nhyira FM, Dr Nana Guan Bay stated, “After the December 7 general elections, I prophesied that Mahama’s first year things will work very fine; however, in his second year, he will encounter the same challenges.

“I even mentioned some ministries, including the Ministry of Communications, at that time he had appointed Sam George as the substantive minister, so he should consider a reshuffle from June, otherwise some of his appointees will put the government in a bad light,” he remarked.

“My predictions are always true. I am certain they will come to pass. That is why I do not use the word if,” he declared.

Did Kufuor ever accuse Rawlings of stealing 19 state vehicles upon his exit from gov’t? – Kweku Baako speaks

0

Veteran journalist Kweku Baako Jnr has weighed in on the ongoing debate following a resurfaced video of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings lamenting that he was maltreated by the Kufuor Administration.

According to Kweku Baako, questions continue to linger over the circumstances surrounding the controversy, including how many official vehicles Rawlings kept after leaving office.

In his Facebook post, Kweku Baako revealed he will be compiling and recollecting the raw and hard facts per official communication and exchanges between the two sides involved in the alleged saga of maltreatment during the Kufuor Administration and called on Ghanaians to stay tuned for more details.

In a Facebook post titled “Did President Kufuor Ever Accuse Rawlings of Stealing 19 State Vehicles Upon His Exit from Government? Fact or Fiction?” Kweku Baako wrote, “ *Me: A video recording is doing rounds on various social media networks, including FACEBOOK in which the late former President Rawlings is seen and heard lamenting that he was maltreated by the Kufuor Administration after he (Mr. Rawlings) had exited Government after nearly 20 years in Office as Head of State and President of the Republic of Ghana.

This “revelation” by our late former President has attracted huge public interest, leading to some critical commentaries and harsh critique of former President Kufuor.

This is not the first time the alleged maltreatment of the former President by the Kufuor Administration has been brought to the frontburner of public discourse. And might not be the last time.

However, what exactly were/are the issues? Did the late former President’s lamentations really transpired?

Which part of his lamentations were factual? And which ones were fictional? Or were/was it a mixture of both?

And what might have occasioned the heated public controversies about how many cars Mr..Rawlings took away from the Castle/Presidency to his private residence for his private use upon his exit from Government in January 2001?

For now, I shall be compiling and recollecting the raw and hard facts per official communication and exchanges between the two sides involved in the alleged saga of maltreatment during the Kufuor Administration.

Stay tuned for more….”

Reports suggest that, in the year 2001, after former President Rawlings left office, he was no longer accorded courtesies that were due him under the provisions of the 1992 Constitution.

“Although it was embedded in the 1992 Constitution that neither the President nor the Foreign Minister has the power to vary the pensions and facilities available to the former President to his disadvantage during his lifetime, those privileges were withdrawn by the then Kufour administration.

Also, Rawlings had his monthly pension re-computed based on the Greenstreet report. The Greenstreet report was the recommendation of a committee set up by the Kufuor administration to discuss ex gratia awards for ex-Presidents of Ghana”, reports stated.

The NPP government led by Kufuor retrieved all state vehicles in the custody of ex-President Jerry John Rawlings, among others.

Meanwhile, Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has boldly stated he does not regret withdrawing the diplomatic passport and courtesies of the late Jerry John Rawlings.

In a resurfaced old video of former President Kufuor, he revealed he never regretted withdrawing the diplomatic passport and courtesies of former President Jerry John Rawlings for smearing him on an international stage.

Speaking in the resurfaced video, in an interview with Bola Ray, when quizzed if he regrets withdrawing the former President Jerry John Rawlings diplomatic courtesies, Kufuour stated, “Do you know what he did to me, please don’t let us go into that. Not pay back, but I was the sitting head of state, he was formal and sitting in a way that personifies the state”.

“When you go out to some foreign lands to speak, to describe your sitting head of state as incompetent and a disgrace to the nation, suppose it was his time, you think you could have said that about him and come back to Ghana?”.

“He came after such a trip, demanding that all of these things that courtesies be extended. So I said no when you use the word courtesy you should know that it is give and take. We withdraw so you don’t do it again”, he added.

When quizzed if he regretted his actions, Former President Kufuor boldly stated, No’, he does not regret doing that.

U.S. using Ken Ofori-Atta as a bargaining chip against gov’t – Barker-Vormawor alleges

0

Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a Legal practitioner and activist, has alleged that the United States government is using Ghana’s former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, as a bargaining chip against the NDC government.

According to Oliver Barker-Vormawor, if the United States wanted to return Ken Ofori-Atta, they would have bundled him on a flight to Ghana when they cancelled his visa.

He argued that hundreds of West African nations have been sent to Ghana despite Court orders saying they can’t, but the US wants to use Ken Ofori-Atta as leverage against the Government.

In a post shared on X, Oliver Barker-Vormawor wrote, “If the Americans wanted to return Ken Ofori-Atta, the moment they cancelled his visa, they would have bundled him on a flight to Ghana.

100s of West African nations have been sent to Ghana despite Court orders saying they can’t. Some were just bundled despite ongoing court cases and sent to Ghana. We allowed them to do this.

So for me, this is a case of if they wanted, they would.

My suspicion is that they will continue to hold on to him as leverage against the Government, so that the more political pressure mounts on the NDC for failing to bring him, the more they can use him as a bargaining chip to get even more from us.

But two can play that game! ‘Eneke the bird says that since men have learned to shoot without missing, he has learned to fly without perching’.

They need to cast their mind back to what the PNDC did to them on the Soussoudis-Sharon Scranage affair.

Someone tag Mahama and his Ministers for me.

Shalom!”

Also, Oliver Barker-Vormawor had earlier shared new details about the release of embattled former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, from the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility.

According to Oliver Barker-Vormawor, his sources within the US Department of Justice have told him Ken Ofori-Atta was released on a $65,000 bond.

He further disclosed that Ken Ofori-Atta has been fitted with an electronic monitoring device on his ankle and can’t travel or move outside a defined parameter.

In a Facebook post on Friday, April 10, 2026, Oliver Barker-Vormawor wrote, “I have been looking a bit more into the whole Ken Ofori-Atta debacle.

And from what I am hearing from contacts within the US Department of Justice, he was released on a $65,000 bond.

The decision was based on health grounds, though he is being treated as a flight risk.

He has been fitted with an electronic monitoring device on his ankle; he can’t travel or move outside a defined parameter and is required to report regularly to ICE.

His next immigration hearing has been scheduled for 27th April.

What I still don’t understand is why the US authorities are sitting on Ghana’s extradition request. They received this 3 months ago. And the AG’s department has provided them with everything necessary.

The obstruction seems to be coming from the US State Department. I hope our Foreign Minister will ask them for answers.

Shalom”.

Meanwhile, Ken Ofori-Atta, is expected to appear before a United States immigration court on June 15, 2026.

Reports suggest Ken Ofori-Atta’s hearing that could influence both his bid to remain in the US or be deported back to Ghana to face criminal charges.

According to court documents, the case has been set for an individual hearing at 1:00 pm before Judge David A. Gardey at the Annandale Immigration Court in Virginia.

Ken Ofori-Atta’s session is expected to take place virtually.

“If you want a by-election, vote for the independent candidate” – Old video of Owusu Bempeh predicting OK Frimpong’s fate

0

A throwback video of the Deputy Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ernest Owusu Bempeh, telling people of the Asante Akyem North not to vote for an independent candidate has surfaced following the arrest of Ohene Kwame Frimpong.

In the resurfaced old video, Ernest Owusu Bempeh cautioned the constituents not to vote for Ohene Kwame Frimpong, claiming there will be a by-election in the next year.

Speaking in the resurfaced video shared on X, Ernest Owusu Bempeh boldly stated, “If you vote for the independent candidate, there will be a by-election in the next year. Asante Akyem, the people of Agogo, don’t go and drink (sic). I’m telling you that if you vote for the independent candidate, in less than three weeks or a year, you’re going to have a by-election in Asante Akyem”.

“We don’t want to go for a by-election. And I know what I’m talking about. Don’t gamble with this seat. If you want a by-election, vote for the independent candidate.”

He reiterated, “I know what I’m talking about. I’m saying that if you vote for the independent candidate, there will be a by-election in the next one year in Asante Akyem North.”

“You have seen that you’re surprised. Even if you’re a journalist, you are shocked. I want you to mark today’s date. I’m not being a prophet, but let them make the mistake of voting for the independent candidate.”

Meanwhile, sources familiar with the arrest of the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North have shared details concerning the arrest at the  Schiphol Airport.

Reports suggest that the Asante Akyem North MP was dramatically arrested by Dutch security officials at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam shortly after a KLM flight from Accra landed in the Netherlands.

According to CitiNewsroom, “the lawmaker departed Kotoka International Airport in Accra on Saturday, May 9, aboard KLM Flight 590. The flight reportedly left Ghana through Gate C7 at about 10:10 p.m. and arrived at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam at approximately 4:36 GMT on Sunday”.

The information gathered from sources detailed that the incident happened moments after the aircraft touched down at Gate F3 when passengers were prepared to disembark, the pilot announced that all passengers should remain seated for what was described as a security check.

Sources revealed that a team of Dutch security officials subsequently boarded the aircraft and proceeded directly to the Business Class section where the Asante Akyem North MP was seated with another senior government official travelling on the same flight.

The Dutch security officials reportedly identified the MP, read him his rights, and placed him in handcuffs before escorting him off the aircraft into a waiting security van.

Also, Elvis Adu-Ameyaw, the lawyer, the embattled Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, has revealed there are not many details surrounding his client’s arrest.

According to the Asante Akyem North Lawyer, to the best of his knowledge, a bench warrant has been issued by the United States.

He further detailed that he cannot go into details surrounding the charges levelled against his client.

Speaking in an interview on Salt FM on May 14, 2026, Elvis Adu-Ameyaw, lawyer for the Asante Akyem North, stated, “For now, there are not many details regarding the reason for his arrest, but to the best of my knowledge, a bench warrant has been issued by the United States. Per my understanding, he is wanted in Illinois. However, regarding the detailed charges levelled against him, I cannot go into that.

“To the best of my knowledge, these proceedings can sometimes take up to a month. If, after everything, he is found guilty, then he will be extradited to the US. But if he is not found guilty, he will regain his freedom,” he said.

I don’t regret withdrawing the diplomatic passport and courtesies of Rawlings – Kufuor in a resurfaced video

The NPP government led by Kufuor retrieved all state vehicles in the custody of ex-President Jerry John Rawlings, among others.

When quizzed if he regretted his actions, Former President Kufuor boldly stated, No’, he does not regret doing that.

He further touched on his relationship with the late Nana Konadu, saying, Occassionally we meet. At a function, we shake hands. His wife is a distant relative of mine from Kumasi. These days, my relations with his wife are fine. Some time ago, some things really disturbed and  I expressed my displeasure in ways for her to know she needed to go gingerly”.

Meanwhile, in an old interview, Victor Smith, who is a former aide to the late former president, recounted incidents of how the official residence of Rawlings was surrounded by security operatives in an attempt to arrest him.

According to him, the incident happened on June 8, 2001, only months after Rawlings had successfully handed over power to his successor, John Kufour.

Speaking on TV3’s Key Point program Victor Smith narrated, “Rawlings under Kufuor suffered some indignities, people have talked about withdrawal of his courtesies for a former President or a very senior personnel in our country, in the first 6 months of President Kufuor coming into power, on June 8 his house was surrounded and they wanted to take him, they wanted to arrest Rawlings but for the intervention of some of us in terms of calling the media and the public about this development Friday the 8th of June may be things would have been terrible for Rawlings at the time”.

He added, “He [Rawlings] thought that it was an agenda so he wanted Atta Mills to [also] pursue Kufuor’s ministers for the same reason. What I know is that he felt there were a lot of injustices against him. Atta Mills did not pursue people and that led to a bit of friction between him and Rawlings.”

“Some of his ministers were incarcerated. Kwame Peprah and the rest and so he thought the then government decided to pursue his appointees,” he narrated.

In related news, a retired Military Officer identified as Michael Molley, commonly known as Gago, has opened up about how former President John Agyekum Kufuor ordered him to eliminate the late Jerry John Rawlings and Veteran Journalist Kwesi Pratt.

According to the retired Military Officer, former President Kufuor told him to eliminate Rawlings and Kwesi Pratt, but he refused.

He alleged that Kufuor told him to eliminate Rawlings because he was bothering him, adding that he made a similar request, asking him to eliminate Kwesi Pratt because he was writing negative things about him.

Speaking on Kofi TV, the retired Military Officer alleged, saying, “President Kufour is alive, they should ask him, Mr Kufour, look at me, I am talking to you, didn’t you also say that I should eliminate Rawlings? It is true; let him answer it. That is what he told, and it is not a lie. That was why I said, “Give me a Bible to swear”.

God will not forgive me if I am lying”.

The retired military officer, Michael Molley, was handed a Bible, where he swore.

He further alleged, “Mr Kufuor, you told me Rawlings was bothering you, so I should eliminate him, and Kwesi Pratt has been writing things against you, so I should eliminate him”.

“I told him I am not a killer, Mr Kufuor. Next time you tell me, I will leave Ghana. Mr Kufuor, am I lying? This is a Bible I am holding? You, too, take a Bible and swear you never told me. Bible, if I am lying, don’t let me reach home, just eliminate me”, he claimed.

“Two days before the elections, I met Nigel Gaisie” – Prophet Badu Kobi details how he blocked Ken’s win

0

Prophet Badu Kobi, the founder of the Glorious Wave Church International, has detailed how he spiritually blocked and nullified a prophecy made by Prophet Bernard ElBernard Nelson-Eshun regarding Ken Agyapong.

It will be recalled that Prophet ElBernard had prophesied that Ken Agyapong would emerge as the NPP flagbearer.

According to Prophet Badu Kobi, how can Ken say a man of God killed his own son, and then he wants to go and win elections, it will never happen.

He disclosed that Ken Agyapong wasn’t supposed to become the President of Ghana but was supposed to become the flagbearer.

Prophet Badu Kobi added that two days before the elections, he met Nigel Gaisie and they both agreed Ken could not become flagbearer.

Speaking in an interview with Blakk Rasta on the 3FM’s Urban Blend show, Prophet Badu Kobi stated, “How can you say a man of God killed his own son, and then you want to go and win elections? Never. Sometimes we don’t talk, but when it comes to work, we know how God moves, and His covenant is with us. So, you cannot get it [position] while you have not come out to publicly admit that what you said is not true,” he said.

“When you are in the work for a long time, you speak in proverbs, and I knew Prophet ElBernard understood the proverb”.

He added, “I stood on the covenant with God. And then I said, ‘God, this can’t happen’. And God listened to me. So, I have told people around that Prophet ElBernard is a Prophet… but there was a prophet who said no.

He wasn’t supposed to become the President of Ghana. He was supposed to become the flag bearer. Yes. And I am saying this, I’m not afraid.

“On Friday, two days before the elections, I met Prophet Nigel Gaisie, and we held hands. We agreed that he would not become the flagbearer,” he added.

In related news, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, the founder and leader of the Prophetic Hill Chapel, has revealed he would have been more “dirtier” with Kennedy Agyapong if he hadn’t been advised otherwise.

According to Nigel Gaisie, his annointing is “aggressive” and “violent”  and would have been hostile against the NPP presidential candidate if he hadn’t been cautioned by senior prophets whom he highly respected.

Nigel Gaisie disclosed that Ken Agyapong was not fair to him as a person and wasn’t fair to the body of Christ.

Speaking following the viral video of him praying fervently against Kennedy Agyapong.

In the viral video, Nigel Gaisie was seen tearing pieces of paper and placing them into a bottle of anointing oil while praying against Ken Agyapong.

Speaking in the viral video, Nigel Gaisie stated, “Because you stood against me, a prophet of the Lord, I have written your name 13 times. On the election day, the North wind will blow against you, the east will blow against you and the south.

You will know that there are prophets in Ghana, for my sake, Ken Agyapong, you are going down as I have written your name into this bottle, I bury you, politics will reject you”.

Nigel Gaisie, speaking to GHOne, stated, “My oil is not a gentle type of oil. I stand for the church. I’m aggressive and violent. And even during this primary, I would have been much more raw and dirty if I weren’t called by some of my senior men, whom I have a lot of respect for. I would have been very, very dirty with Kennedy”.

“He wasn’t fair as a person and wasn’t fair to the body of Christ. I’m privy to a lot of things he was about to do, which didn’t come out. Because of where I stand, I can’t bring them out unless I’m pushed to do so. And if that happens, nobody in the world would have gone to church again. If he attacked Bishop Dag Heward Mills, that would have been huge, which he started, but what one or two things happened behind the curtains and did not go well for…”

“If somebody has broken the law, you are a big person. At that time, the NPP was in power. Let national security or the security apparatus handle the person and deal with the issue. We are not in a jungle where it is the rule of men; it is the rule of law. It is not the sentiments of men that rule, but the rule of law. If Nigel Gaisie has murdered somebody, call me, let me face the music,” he added.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Hot 93.9 FM’s ‘Hot Morning Drive’, Osei Adutwum revealed he has accepted Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s appointment.

Dr Adutwum stated, “I have accepted his offer wholeheartedly. He called me and sent me a WhatsApp message. If he says I should help him with my knowledge in education, why not? I have accepted the appointment 100 per cent.”

“I want to do anything for this country to prosper, and I know this country will prosper through Dr Mahamudu Bawumia,” Dr Yaw Adutwum added.

Dr Adutwum further highlighted that Dr Bawumia is open to new ideas and is focused on finding answers to change the course of Ghana’s history.

He further disclosed that he is “100 per cent in support” of his leadership.

His comments follow, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who has appointed all four of his former rivals in the party’s presidential primaries as co-chairmen of newly established NPP policy committees.

According to reports, the NPP policy committees will work to establish a data-driven policy committee framework within the party.

The NPP Policy Committee will be chaired by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, who seeks to generate credible, evidence-based alternative policy recommendations across critical sectors of Ghana’s economy and governance.

“Dr Bawumia appoints all four former presidential aspirants who contested against him as co-chairs of @NPP_GH Policy Committees.

1. Co-Chair of Employment and Jobs Policy Committee — Hon. Kennedy Agyapong.

2. Co-Chair of Defence and Interior Policy Committee — Hon. Dr Bryan Acheampong.

3. Co-Chair of Education Policy Committee — Hon. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum.

4. Co-Chair of Housing and Urban Development Policy Committee — Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong”

Meanwhile, Dr Jonathan Asante Otchere, a Political analyst, has labelled the NPP’s flagbearer decision to appoint his rivals in the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearership race to co-chair key policy committees as a massive stroke.

The Political analyst highlighted that if Bawumia’s colleagues have accepted these appointments, it is a massive stroke.

He argued that once Bawumia have been able to get them on board, their grassroots support will definitely be on his side.

According to Dr Jonathan Asante Otchere, Dr Bawumia’s decision is good for the optics.

Speaking on Citi FM’s News Digest on Saturday, May 9, Dr Jonathan Asante Otchere stated, “It is quite strategic. If only these colleagues have accepted these appointments, I think it is a massive stroke. Once you have been able to get them on board, their grassroots support will definitely be on his side”.

“It is good for the optics. The optics is that it creates a semblance of unity,” he stated.

President Mahama must reshuffle arrogant ministers – NDC’s Akamba

0

Joshua Akamba, a former National Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said that President John Dramani Mahama must reshuffle some arrogant ministers in government.

In related news, the Chief Executive Officer of the Buan Bay Herbal and Spiritual Centre, Dr Nana Guan Bay, has told President John Dramani Mahama to reshuffle his ministers by June 2026.

Meanwhile, Fifi Kwetey, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, has revealed that there will be a ministerial reshuffle of ministers in the John Mahama administration.

According to the NDC General Secretary, from what he is picking up in the corridors of power, there will be a ministerial reshuffle, but he cannot say how soon.

Speaking on TV3 Hot Issues, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey explained, “It is always important that despite the fact that things have gone on very well in the first year, the president, who is the leader, will always want to see where things can still be done better”.

“A reshuffle is normally done within that context, where you want to see in this particular sector, even though things are okay, it can still do better if I move somebody else to that place or in this place, maybe this one is not too effective in this sector”.

“So I think a reshuffle will be a possibility, and what I pick up from the corridors, yes, we definitely are going to have a reshuffle. I wouldn’t be able to say how soon, but definitely”.

Attorney-General given 7 days to respond in KIA renaming case

0

The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice have been directed by the Supreme Court of Ghana to file a response within seven days in a legal challenge contesting the renaming of Kotoka International Airport (KIA) to the Accra International Airport.

On Thursday, 14 May 2026, the Supreme Court issued the directive after it considered the Attorney-General seeking additional time to submit a statement of case in the matter of Austin Kwabena Brako-Powers v. Attorney-General.

It will be recalled that lawyer Austin Kwabena Brako-Powers filed the suit in March 2026, challenging the legality of the reported renaming of the airport.

According to Brako-Powers, the renaming of Kotoka International Airport is unlawful unless it is amended or repealed through the appropriate legal processes.

In a writ invoking the original jurisdiction of the court, the plaintiff is challenging what he describes as an unlawful attempt to rename the facility to “Accra International Airport.”

Brako-Powers, in his suit, filed against the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, maintains that the General Kotoka Trust Decree, 1969 (NLCD 339), remains valid and binding under the 1992 Constitution unless it is amended or repealed.

The plaintiff Brako-Powers is seeking a declaration that any purported renaming of the airport without such amendment or repeal is inconsistent with the provisions of the Constitution.

He further argued that any executive order issued to effect the name change, without legislative backing, is null, void, and of no legal effect.

Furthermore, the suit requires the court to cancel the reversion of Kotoka International Airport to “Accra International Airport”, asserting that it contravenes constitutional provisions.

The Attorney-General now has 14 days to file a response after being served with the plaintiff’s statement of case.

Brako-Powers lawsuit comes on the heels of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) announcing the completion of the signage at Accra International Airport following public criticism.

In a statement, GACL stated that the project was not fully completed as scheduled on Friday; however, all outstanding works have now been concluded.

“The fixing of Accra International Airport signage has now been completed, including paint works…The work was not fully completed yesterday, but it is now done this morning,” GACL said.

“These works are done at night after the last flight due to the height and impact on the car park area in order not to inconvenience the public and travelling passengers,” it added.

The company expressed appreciation to the public for its feedback, noting that citizen engagement plays a vital role in improving service delivery.

“Thanks to all for the concern. We continue to encourage constructive feedback, which helps with our service delivery,” GACL noted.

Meanwhile, the Mahama government recently changed the name of the airport from Kotoka International Airport to Accra International Airport.

The Transport Ministry has officially announced that Kotoka International Airport has been officially renamed Accra International Airport.

The Ministry assured the public that operations, safety, and international travel would not be affected. Adding that the renaming will, however, involve updating official documents, signage, digital platforms, aviation publications, and communications.

The government has also called on the public, stakeholders, and international partners to cooperate for a smooth transition and thanked all for their support.

On Monday, February 23, 2026, in a press statement, the Transport Ministry stated, “The ministry hereby informs the general public that the Government of Ghana has officially reverted the name of Kotoka International Airport to its original name, Accra International Airport.

“The facility was originally known as Accra International Airport before its redesignation. The government has considered it appropriate to restore the airport to its former and internationally recognised name”, it said.

The statement further added, “This change will not affect airport operations, safety standards, or international travel arrangements. Notably, within the records of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the airport code has remained ‘ACC.’”

“The transition will involve updating official documents, airport signage, digital platforms, aviation publications, and other communication materials”.

Mahama gov’t announces official conclusion of IMF programme

0

The Government of Ghana, led by President John Dramani Mahama, has announced the successful conclusion of Ghana’s Extended Credit Facility programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“Get married early and have your children very early” – Methodist Church Elder advises

0

A Methodist Church Elder has urged members of the church’s Men’s Fellowship to consider marrying early rather than delaying marriage.

He also advised men to have their children within shorter age gaps.

According to the Methodist Church elder, early marriage enables men to fulfil their parental responsibilities earlier in life instead of spending their old age raising young children.

Speaking to Church members, the Methodist Church elder stated, “Get married early and have your children very early. It is very beautiful when you are growing, and your children are almost the same height as you. It is so beautiful.

You don’t also use your pension pay, and then your child is at KG or class one by the time you die, your child has not attained anything, so change your mind.

By 30, you are married, and if you want to have children, have it quick”, he added.

Some Ghanaians reacting to the video shared by SIKAOFFICIAL regarding the Methodist Church elder wrote, “Who’s going to take care of them if I’m young and not working? What is the sense of giving birth and you’re not working?”.

One X user added, “The giving birth de3 it’s nice. I personally find kids to be cute but chale, having them is a whole investment on its own o.

Just wait, even if it will take 10 years for you to be financially stable before you try bringing a child into this earth.

Because it doesn’t make any sense to bring a child you can’t cater for into this world”.

Another netizen added, “We self dey want want am so but our economy no dey gree give we. Charley, u spend years in school and after, there’s no employment. Now you’re looking to acquire a skill, which u cannot balance with having a wife and kids. And the women now have some gargantuan appetites”.

An X user added, “Looking at the unemployment rate in Ghana, how is one going to afford to get married, and even after marriage, how is the person going to take care of their families …

Secondly, you get married and give birth in this era and later realise that the child is not even yours.. Charley let me enjoy my single life in peace”.

“The churches are a problem in this country, and if they don’t stop these behaviours, men won’t even marry again. People are afraid when it comes to calling the churches out, but not me”, a netizen added.

An X user added, “Do not listen to this man if you are financially stable and have a good job. You will regret getting married and giving birth. Secure your future and the future of that unborn child first”.

One last X user quizzed, “If a man is still struggling to feed himself, is it fair to bring kids into that? Shouldn’t the focus be on building the capacity to actually fulfil those parental responsibilities first, even if it means waiting a few years?”.

“We must make sure we don’t go back to the good old bad days” – Ato Forson says as Ghana ends IMF programme

0

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister, has said Ghana must make sure it does not go back to the good old bad days by being forced into another emergency bailout arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

According to Ato Forson, Ghana risks sliding back into crisis if it fails to sustain ongoing reforms following the conclusion of its International Monetary Fund (IMF) Extended Credit Facility programme.

He highlighted that the government is implementing safeguards to ensure Ghana does not repeatedly resort to external bailouts.

The Finance Minister stressed that Ghana does not want to return to IMF support, adding that discipline must remain a priority.

Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, May 15, Dr Forson stated, “What we seek to do is to make sure that whatever we do today is sustainable, so that we don’t go back to the good old bad days, where we get to an emergency situation that we have to go to the IMF”.

“We are putting in place measures so that we don’t have to go for a bailout. We believe that we do not have a need to go for a bailout every day, but it doesn’t mean we should let our guard. It means that we don’t have to be complacent in order to work harder,” he explained.

“We need to sustain the gains of economic stability to be able to attract private investment into our country and be able to build on it for sustainable growth,” he said.

“So, bailout is out of the equation,” he said.

Dr Forson further recounted Ghana’s past economic challenges, saying, “When I was a deputy minister here, we often said that as for indiscipline, there’s always a price for indiscipline”.

“Clearly, indiscipline is what has landed Ghana on a number of bailout programs, because largely, we depleted our reserves so fast, and then we enjoyed the benefits of consolidation so quickly, and in the end, we’re going back to where we don’t have to be,” he said.

“What we seek to do going forward is to build on the momentum that this ECF has created for all of us and sustain it for a very long time so that the country can benefit from it,” he added.

Also, IMF Mission Chief for Ghana, Ruben Atoyan, has urged Ghana to maintain economic discipline.

He disclosed that the new arrangement under the Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI), the IMF will not provide financing but will support Ghana through technical assistance and policy guidance.

Ruben Atoyan stated, “It’s a form of technical assistance. We’re very happy to engage in this new phase of the relationship,” he said. “The PCI will focus on multiple objectives.”

“Importantly, this must be done without reversing the hard-won stabilisation gains,” he said.

“This space can now be used to address pressing development needs, promote employment… strengthening social and priority spending,” he said.

“Maintaining discipline supported by stronger public financial management, better oversight, and reducing quasi-fiscal risks will be very important,” he said.

“The external environment remains uncertain and volatile, which underscores the need for continued prudent fiscal and monetary policy,” he said.

Akans face a higher genetic risk of Kidney disease – UGMC study suggests

0

Vincent Boima, the Head of the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics at the University of Ghana Medical School, has announced study shows that Akans face a higher genetic risk of Kidney disease.

According to the UGMC’s  Vincent Boima, emerging research suggests some ethnic groups in Ghana may carry a higher genetic predisposition to kidney disease than others.

He disclosed that the study findings suggest Akans are more likely to carry high-risk gene variants associated with kidney disease compared to Gas and Ewes.

Vincent Boima highlighted that similar patterns have also been observed in Nigeria, with Igbos appearing to have a higher genetic risk of kidney disease compared to Yorubas and Fulanis.

The UGMC’s  Vincent Boima made this known during the inaugural lecture held on Wednesday, May 14, at the Great Hall of the University of Ghana, titled “From Genes to Minds: Holistic Pathways to Precision Kidney Care in Africa.”

Prof. Boima, speaking in an interview with Citi News after the lecture, stressed that researchers are still working to fully understand the underlying causes of these disparities.

He, however, noted that the findings could help explain the burden of kidney disease among certain population groups, particularly young people.

“We are still trying to understand why these differences exist, but the data suggest there are genetic risk variations among populations,” he stated.

The UGMC professor further called for more precise and targeted approaches to kidney disease treatment and prevention, adding that access to renal care in many African countries remains limited and expensive.

He further stressed that the financial burden associated with kidney disease is increasing, urging for stronger community education and early screening programmes to detect chronic kidney disease before it progress.

In other news, the Human Milk Bank at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) is calling on lactating mothers with excess breast milk to donate milk to save the lives of premature and vulnerable babies.

According to Dr Ophelia Ganyaglo, a paediatrician at the UGMC, donor breast milk has become a lifeline for several newborns whose mothers cannot breastfeed due to death, illness, surgery of lack of milk production.

She disclosed that the Human Milk Bank, the first of its kind in Ghana, is similar to a blood bank, revealing that the bank was launched in June 2025, and operations officially began in November 2025 after staff training.

Dr Ophelia Ganyaglo added that within six months of operation, the bank had successfully recruited eight donor mothers and served 15 babies.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Dr Ophelia Ganyaglo explained, “A human milk bank receives breast milk from healthy lactating mothers who have excess milk beyond what their babies need. The milk is screened, safely stored, pasteurised to eliminate harmful bacteria, and redistributed to vulnerable babies”.

“Eight donors may sound small, but these mothers have donated about 64 litres of breast milk, which has gone a long way to support babies in critical need,” she stated.

“Breast milk is liquid gold. It supports growth, protects babies against infections, and improves survival outcomes, especially for premature babies,” she said.

She further assured the public that strict safety measures were in place to ensure the quality of donated milk adding that all donor mothers undergo screening for infections such as HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and syphilis.

“All we are doing now is formalising the process and ensuring that it is done safely and scientifically,” she said.

According to donor mothers currently receive only appreciation tokens such as branded souvenirs and breast pumps, instead of cash incentives.

“We do not attach monetary value to breast milk donation because we do not want mothers neglecting their own babies for financial gain,” she added.

“We need more donors. There are many babies out there whose survival depends on access to safe breast milk,” she stressed.

Dr Ganyaglo further expressed hope that more health facilities across the country would establish human milk banks in the future.

“We dream of a future where every region in Ghana will have a human milk bank so that no vulnerable baby is denied the benefits of breast milk,” she said.

“Money messing up the NDC today” – Joshua Akamba fumes

0

Joshua Akamba, a former National Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has boldly stated that money is messing up the party today.

According to Joshua Akamba, the NDC youths are being destroyed by money.

He cited that during their time, they served the NDC with their lives, loyalty and dignity, but today the youths are full of money, money-conscious.

Joshua Akamba further advised TEIN UniMAC members not to sell their conscience to politicians, highlighting that when they do that, they are selling their future.

Speaking at the TEIN Unimac meeting, Joshua Akamba stated, “The thing that is messing up this party today is about money. It is about money. I remember when I was contesting as National Organiser, a group of 50 students came to me and said, ‘You will have to give us money, and then we will go and vote for you’.

I told them to walk away from me; that is what is destroying the youth, our future. You are full of money, money-conscious, which we never did. All we did was dedicate our lives to the NDC. I don’t have a position, but believe me, there is no country in this world that I enter that my name is not there. I don’t even waste my time at the airport”.

We serve with loyalty and dignity; we don’t sell your conscience”.

He further added, “This gentleman is contesting an election, then you expect him to pay you money, the next time you go to him looking for a job, you think he will give you the job? He paid for your conscience, and you sold your job and future to him”.

Joshua Akamba further narrated how he went to President Mahama’s home when he was broke, telling him he needed some money.

In related news, Joshua Akamba has said there is one particular Minister who is so arrogant.

Also, Joshua Akamba has called on President Mahama to reshuffle some arrogant ministers in government.

According to Joshua Akamba, some ministers need to be reshuffled to save the face of the Mahama government.

Joshua Akamba detailed that he has two ministers whom he thinks must be removed, but he, however, did not mention their names.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 9 more Ghanaians have already pleaded guilty and been sentenced in connection with these romance fraud conspiracies:

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio, in a detailed report, wrote, “CLEVELAND – Two brothers from Ghana and a woman from the U.S. have been indicted for allegedly being a part of a criminal network that devised romance fraud schemes to obtain money from victims by mostly targeting the elderly in the United States.

An indictment was recently unsealed in United States v. Jamal Abubakari, et al., charging the following three individuals with Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud and Money Laundering:

Portions of the funds were further provided to co-conspirators in Ghana and elsewhere.

A series of cases related to this matter, which have also charged conspiracies tied to Ghana for targeting elderly victims, have been assigned to one U.S. District Judge to coordinate proceedings. While many defendants in those matters are pending trial or sentencing, nine defendants have already pleaded guilty and been collectively sentenced to approximately 50 years of imprisonment.

  • Portia Joe 28, of Columbus, Ohio, was sentenced to 51 months of imprisonment; three years supervised release; and ordered to pay $2,035,438 in restitution.
  • Anna Amponsah 35, of Columbus, Ohio, was sentenced to 108 months of imprisonment; three years of supervised release; and ordered to pay $1,444,639 in restitution.
  • Dwayne Asafo Adjei, 29, a citizen of Ghana, was sentenced to 71 months of imprisonment; three years of supervised release; and ordered to pay $372,943 in restitution. This will run concurrent to the sentence from U.S. v. Abuanekwu et al.
  • Hannah Adom, 27, of Akron and Columbus, Ohio, was sentenced to 71 months of imprisonment; three years of supervised release; and ordered to pay $278,894 in restitution.

Defendant Abdoul Issaka Assimiou, 37, of Cleveland, Ohio, pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud and Money Laundering Conspiracy and is awaiting sentencing.

If convicted, each defendant’s sentence will be determined by the Court after a review of factors unique to the case, including prior criminal records, if any, roles in the offence, and the characteristics of the violations.

Meanwhile, sources familiar with the arrest of the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, have shared details concerning the arrest at the  Schiphol Airport.

Meanwhile, Elvis Adu-Ameyaw, the lawyer, the embattled Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, has revealed there are not many details surrounding his client’s arrest.

Schools like PRESEC excel at WASSCE because their teachers are examiners and markers – Dr Adutwum

0

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the former Education Minister under the Nana Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, has explained why some top schools continue to dominate the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

According to Dr Adutwum, students at top schools like PRESEC benefit from teachers who serve as examiners and markers.

He explained that these teachers provide their students with a deeper understanding of how to answer questions to meet WAEC standards.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Hot 93.9FM’s ‘Hot Morning Drive’, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum stated, “Top schools like PRESEC, their teachers are examiners, so they had the insight that propelled them to do better than those whose teachers were not”.

In related news, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has disclosed that he was not surprised that the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results were bad compared to previous years.

According to Dr Adutwum, the Akufo-Addo government used to pay teachers for extra classes to prepare WASSCE candidates, but the current Mahama government discontinued it.

Dr Adutwum further highlighted that claims that the 2025 WASSCE results were bad due to the Ghana Education Service and other authorities stopping exam malpractices are not factual.

He disclosed that in 2025 6000 subjects were cancelled compared to 4000 in 2024.

Speaking during an interview on JOYNEWS, Dr Adutwum explained, “We used to pay teachers to teach extra classes to prepare the students, but this government discontinued paying the teachers for that aspect. So, to me, I  was not surprised that we got the results that we got. What I was surprised by was when I heard in the news that somehow the students didn’t do well because they had stopped cheating.

Then I went to check the number of exams that were cancelled, and this year, 6000 subjects were cancelled compared to 4000 in 2024, so it could not be true”.

It will be recalled that the 2025 WASSCE result released by WAEC revealed 220,008 out of 461,736 students failed Core Mathematics, marking the worst performance in the subject in seven years.

Also, “only 48.73% of candidates attained grades A1 to C6 in 2025. This represents a massive collapse from the 66.86% achieved in 2024. A total of 209,068 candidates passed with A1-C6, but 114,872 candidates (26.77%) failed the subject outright with an F9 grade.

Additionally, 131,097 students (30.27%) failed English Language, 161,606 students (39.87%) failed Integrated Science, and 196727 students (44%) failed Social Studies.

A total of 1,021 schools registered candidates for the examination, representing a slight 0.24% increase over 2024, while 5,821 candidates (1.26%) were absent.

Meanwhile, a total of 509,862 candidates are sitting for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), starting with Oral English today, May 13, 2026.

According to statistics from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), the figure comprises 225,274 males and 284,588 females.

Reports suggest the Ashanti Region recorded the highest number of candidates, with 127,702 students, followed by the Eastern Region, with 70,099.

The Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions collectively accounted for 67,739 candidates.

In the Central Region, 61,303 candidates were recorded, while the Greater Accra Region had 48,099 candidates.

The Volta Region, 41,622 candidates, with Oti Region and Western North together, accounted for 35,620 candidates sitting for the exams.

The Northern, North East and Savannah regions recorded 33,155 candidates, with the Upper East Region having 15,192 candidates.

Ghanaian man narrates how he survived after his ex-boss allegedly plotted to behead him

0

A Ghanaian man has narrated how his former boss allegedly set him up to be beheaded in a viral video.

According to the Ghanaian man, his former boss ordered him to go to a cocoa farm and wait for him there.

He recounted that upon arriving at the location, he became suspicious of the surroundings and decided to hide while waiting.

The man further added that moments later, he allegedly spotted three men approaching, with one carrying a sack and another holding a knife.

He disclosed that throughout the incident, his former boss reportedly kept calling him, asking about his whereabouts and claiming he could not find him, adding that he later realised that his boss was never at the location, but rather the three men were there instead.

Speaking in a viral video shared on X by the State News on May 14, 2026, the Ghanaian man narrated, “He instructed me to go and meet some people at a cocoa farm in a village.

That time, it was getting to 6 PM, so I went to hide under a cocoa tree, and I was lying flat on the ground. So, I got to the destination, I called him on the phone to tell him I was at there and he told me he was on his way”.

He further added, “After some time, I then saw a man there, so my boss called. Apparently, the man told him I was there. Later, others joined. One came to sit on a bench nearby, and my boss called me asking if I was there.

He got angry that I had not yet reached the destination. I then saw a man with a sack and a knife, and that was when I realised something was wrong,” he recounted.

Netizen reacting to the viral video shared on X wrote, “He should go to the police station to report for that people to be arrested and jailed, they don’t deserve to be in our midst. They might go and get a different person to be headed. Over to you @ghPoliceService”.

An X user added, “Ghana police need to investigate his boss carefully… because from the way this man explained how it happened, it seems like the boss may have been doing this for a long time now. Who knows how many people he may have killed?!

@GhPoliceService”.

“U see, anytime you receive a call from someone to, either I’m, or she’s somewhere, please inform at least three trusted people it’s very important and share the person’s telephone number as well. The world has become a scary forest”, one X user added.

One last X user added, “Masa, if you are not lying, go to the nearest police station with only the phone call evidence and stop disturbing us here….Country where everybody turns comedian…We only believe in things we never see”.

“Asante Akyem North MP must carry his own cross” – Mahama gov’t told not to intervene in MP’s arrest

0

Nana Obiri Boahen, a Private legal practitioner, has rejected assertions calling for the State to intervene on behalf of the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Kwame Ohene Frimpong, following his arrest in the Netherlands.

According to Obiri Boahen, state intervention on behalf of the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North would amount to causing financial loss to the state.

He argued that the arrest has no connection to the state and that public resources should not be used to provide legal support.

Obiri Boahen highlighted that the MP must face the music by carrying his own cross, arguing that the MP’s use of a diplomatic passport has no bearing on the case.

Speaking in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio on May 14, 2026, Obiri Boahen said, “Stop this nonsense of suggesting that the government should have engaged authorities to secure his release”.

“Give us a break. If he has been arrested, so be it. Him being an MP has nothing to do with what has happened. He is a person of interest who has been arrested, and we must stop this jungle analysis surrounding the arrest.”

He further highlighted, “Even the President of Venezuela has faced arrest-related issues, and you are talking about a Ghanaian MP.

“He is not above the law. He has been arrested over suspected wrongdoing and must face the law. It does not matter whether he is a Ghanaian MP or not,” he added.

“EOCO has nothing against him” – Mustapha Gbande ‘CLEARS’ Yamin of galamsey allegations

0

Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, has said he has told the EOCO boss, Raymond Archer, to bring out their investigation report on the NDC’s National Organiser, Joseph Yamin.

According to Mustapha Gbande, EOCO has nothing against Joseph Yamin.

It will be recalled that the Attorney General, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, in July this year, directed the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to launch a full-scale investigation into alleged illegal mining activities involving Joseph Yamin, the NDC’s National Organiser and Yakubu Abanga, the party’s National Vice Chairman.

According to Mustapha Gbande, he is ready to go to jail with Joseph Yamin if anyone can produce any evidence of wrongdoing by the NDC’s National Organiser.

Speaking on Onua TV, Mustapha Gbande stated, “Only a few people in our government can do an investigation better than I do. I just appear stupid, but I am not stupid. I am saying that anybody who comes with any evidence that Yamin has done something wrong, they should jail the two of us.

It is not out of place when you do a wrong thing, you should apologise to the person you have offended. We have demonstrated and exhibited ingratitude to the National Organiser of the party, and it is wrong”.

“I have told Raymond Archer he should bring the report he has on Yamin; they should not cover anything. If Yamin did something wrong, we should prosecute him; he is my brother.”

“You don’t treat the hand that has fed you like that… It is wrong. EOCO has nothing against him,” he stressed.

He further added, “I have used resources doing an investigation on my brother; there is nothing. Anybody who says he is holding a report on Yamin should put it out”.

Yamin kept telling me in the bushes during the campaign period that we would be betrayed after all our hard work. They don’t even see what we are doing”.

Today in the NDC, people lie for convenience and sometimes once that listen to the lies are the ones I question”, he added.

In related news, Mustapha Gbande has expressed disappointment in his party and government over how the NDC’s National Organiser Joseph Yamin has been treated.

According to Mustapha Gbande, Yamin is ready to face any security agency, including the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), over the allegation levelled against him.

He, however, argued that the prudent thing to have been done over the allegation was for Yamin to be questioned by leaders of the NDC first.

Mustapha Gbande further claimed that some individuals are behind Joseph Yamin’s ordeal.

Speaking in a recent interview on UTV, Mustapha Gbande, “He (Yamin) is not a mean person; he is your national organiser. We are here. When the issues start coming up, they will come in grand style. NPP would have stopped what happened under President Akufo-Addo, but they didn’t have courageous people leading them.

“We have the courageous people, and when the die is cast, the resultant effect will be devastating. At least you are an appointee; it is only wise that the party that brought you… I can mention names, but I won’t. The CEOs, they know themselves,” he said.

“Nobody is afraid of the other; it is because of wisdom that everybody is quiet. It is wrong. What is wrong is condemnable, unacceptable, and it must be dismissed. And we must speak to it. When you are quiet, it doesn’t mean you are a coward. I’m not a coward.

“Man is born to die but once. It is because we are all in government, and should accord each other respect, which is why everybody is quiet, but I don’t think it was a fair treatment of Yamin. I don’t,” he fumed.

Ghanaian twins indicted in U.S. romance fraud case

0

The United States Government, through the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio, has officially confirmed that two brothers from Ghana were indicted in a U.S. romance fraud case.

According to reports, the indictment of Jamal Abubakari, also known as “Arrangement,” and Kamal Abubakari, also known as “Lancaster,” over their alleged involvement in romance scams targeting numerous elderly American citizens through dating websites.

The twins are currently in custody in Virginia and are facing charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering between 2024 and 2026.

They have been arrested alongside a woman from the U.S. who has been indicted for allegedly being a part of a criminal network.

The U.S Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio, in a detailed report, wrote, “Two brothers from Ghana and a woman from the U.S. have been indicted for allegedly being a part of a criminal network that devised romance fraud schemes to obtain money from victims by mostly targeting the elderly in the United States.

An indictment was recently unsealed in United States v. Jamal Abubakari, et al., charging the following three individuals with Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud and Money Laundering:

Jamal Abubakari, aka Jamal Abubakar, aka Arrangement, 22;

Kamal Abubakari, aka Kamal Abubakar, aka Lancaster, 22; and

Amanda Joy Opoku-Boachie, aka Amanda Joy Glum, aka Amanda Joy Kessei Bierman, 53.

All three defendants were arrested in Virginia and remain in custody pending further court proceedings.

According to allegations in the indictment, from about July 2024 to April 2026, the defendants targeted older Americans on dating websites and social media platforms to engage in romance fraud schemes. The defendants conspired with others to use fake personas to establish close personal relationships with the victims, which were often romantic in nature.

After being misled by false stories, the victims sent money via wire transfer to financial accounts controlled by conspiracy members. Portions of the funds were further provided to co-conspirators in Ghana and elsewhere.

A series of cases related to this matter, which have also charged conspiracies tied to Ghana for targeting elderly victims, have been assigned to one U.S. District Judge to coordinate proceedings. While many defendants in those matters are pending trial or sentencing, nine defendants have already pleaded guilty and been collectively sentenced to approximately 50 years of imprisonment”.

“There are not many details regarding his arrest” – Lawyer for Asante Akyem North MP speaks

0

Elvis Adu-Ameyaw, the lawyer, the embattled Asante Akyem North MP, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, has revealed there are not many details surrounding his client’s arrest.

Meanwhile, sources familiar with the arrest of the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, have shared details concerning the arrest at the  Schiphol Airport.

Also, the parliament of Ghana has confirmed that the member of parliament for Asante Akyem North, Kwame Ohene Frimpong, has been detained at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

According to the Parliamentary leadership, they are engaging Ghana’s mission in The Hague for further details, with more information expected in due course.

In a statement issued by the Clerk of Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, which was shared on the official social media handles of the House.

The statement asserted that Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has been informed of the matter.

The statement read, “It has come to the attention of Parliament that the Hon Member for Asante Akyem North Constituency, Mr Kwame Ohene Frimpong, has been detained at Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam, in the Netherlands.

“The Rt Hon Speaker and the leadership of the House are in touch with Ghana’s Mission in The Hague for detailed information on the matter. The public will be duly informed appropriately on this matter,” the statement read.

“You can arrest all of us” – Bawumia boldly tells Mahama gov’t

0

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has boldly told the John Mahama government tell can arrest all NPP party members, but they will still be intimidated.

According to Dr Bawumia, he will continue to engage the public and promote his ideas as the NPP seeks to regain power.

Speaking at a meeting with student leaders ahead of a three-day boot camp organised by the NPP, Dr Bawumia stated, “We will take the debate, the ideas to the country, and we will make our case”.

“We are, however, saying that we will not be intimidated. You can arrest all of us. We will come back and make our case to the people of Ghana,” he stated.

Earlier, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia launched a fierce attack on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government following the relentless harassment, arrests, and detention of NPP officials, activists, and supporters.

According to Dr Bawumia, the  “unholy collaboration and enterprise” between the Executive, state security agencies, and some members of the judiciary is undermining free speech and is setting Ghana’s democracy backwards.

Dr Bawumia cited political prosecution, like the recent high-profile cases, the arrest of David Essandoh and Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC, as examples.

The NPP flagbearer highlighted that the day of accountability will come for persons actively participating in undermining free speech and intimidating members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In a statement released on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Dr Bawumia stated, “

“I have observed with great concern the endless assault on the fundamental rights of officers, activists, and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) across the country by this National Democratic Congress (NDC) Government,” he stated.

“These actions undermine free speech and are setting Ghana’s democracy backwards. I condemn in the strongest terms the unholy collaboration between the Executive, state investigative agencies, and some elements within the judiciary to use intimidation and harassment to silence members of the New Patriotic Party,” Dr Bawumia declared.

He added, “I, therefore, serve notice to officers of the State who are active participants in this unholy enterprise that the day of accountability will come and the abuse of State power will be accounted for.”

“To patriots around the country, I urge you all to stay firm by refusing to succumb to intimidation while continuing your civic duty to hold the Government accountable to its promises. We fought hard for this democracy, and as a party, we cannot surrender it to intimidation from those who possess temporary power today,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has criticised Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, following his statement condemning the arrests and detention of NPP officials, activists, and supporters.

According to Franklin Cudjoe, it is deeply ironic to see Dr Bawumia now championing free speech and condemning state intimidation, when the Akufo-Addo Bawumia administration remained silent while citizens were stripped of their very identity and belonging.

He argued that the NPP’s silence in power is damaging, as the current NDC government’s actions are now.

Franklin Cudjoe, however, stressed that Dr Bawumia is right to call out the present wrongs, but justice demands consistency.

In a post shared on X, Franklin Cudjoe wrote, “Well said—but how I wish Dr Bawumia had shown this same courage and clarity when his own government presided over rendering the people of SALL stateless for nearly five years. Not a single word of apology then. Not even an acknowledgement, even if his party had decided they would never say sorry.

It is deeply ironic to see him now championing free speech and condemning state intimidation, when his administration remained silent while citizens were stripped of their very identity and belonging. The NPP’s silence then was as damaging as the NDC’s actions now.

Ghana’s democracy suffers when any government—past or present—abuses power or looks away. Dr Bawumia is right to call out the present wrongs, but justice demands consistency. The patriots he now rallies remember those who were abandoned under his watch. Accountability cannot be selective.

If he truly believes in a day of reckoning for abuse of state power, let that day also review the NPP’s own record. The fight for democracy must include the courage to look backwards, not only forward”.

$215m fraud, money laundering syndicate – New alleged details emerge on the arrest of Asante Akyem North MP

0

More details have surfaced following the arrest of Ohene Kwame Frimpong, the Asante Akyem North MP in the Netherlands.

Kwame Ohene Frimpong,  according to the parliament, was detained at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

According to the Parliamentary leadership, they are engaging Ghana’s mission in The Hague for further details, with more information expected in due course.

The statement was issued by the Clerk of Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, which was shared on the official social media handles of the House.

Reports on the United States Department of Justice website, published on April 30, 2026, detailed a massive money laundering and wire fraud scheme that has so far led to the arrest of 27 individuals.

According to the United States Department of Justice website, the 25 suspects whose names were published allegedly defrauded about 1,000 victims.

It further disclosed that the alleged kingpins, Peter Reed, 35, Oluwafemi Michael Awoyemi, 40, and Auran Drake, 37, have pleaded guilty, with the Asante Akyem North MP allegedly being linked to the fraud syndicate.

YouTuber Clement of Gossips24 Avenue detailed that, per court documents, the MP is part of the 27 individuals involved in the money transfer.

He detailed the fraud syndicate modus operandi of the syndicate, which allegedly includes the name of the Asante Akyem North MP operating by hacking email accounts belonging to individuals and organisations.

Parts of the statement read, “…Involvement with an international email hacking scheme that defrauded more than 1,000 victims out of approximately $215 million. The scheme spanned 47 states and 19 countries. According to court documents and evidence presented in court, individuals, businesses, and other organisations in the United States were targeted and hacked by Nigerian-linked fraud organisations. Their objective was to gain access to email accounts held by individual users.

“The co-conspirators would then monitor the communications and other activities of the individual email users to learn about their business practices and contacts. After gaining sufficient intelligence about the nature of a hacking victim’s activities, the co-conspirators would send a fraudulent email to either the hacking victim or to someone communicating with the hacking victim, requesting payment,” part of the statement read.

It has been alleged that the fraud scheme spanned 47 states and 19 countries, including Canada, Italy, Germany and several others.

“In Ohio, victim businesses affected were located in Norwalk, Kent, Akron, Hudson, Maple Heights, Westfield Center, New Riegel and Greenwich.

“Outside Ohio, victims were identified in New York, California, Texas, Kansas, North Carolina, Florida, Arizona, Michigan, Connecticut, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, South Carolina, Delaware, Hawaii, Alaska, Idaho, New Jersey and numerous other states.

“International victims were identified in Canada, Mexico, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Panama, Bermuda, Romania and other countries.”

Gossips24 further detailed that the Asante Akim North MP is allegedly linked to three other Ghanaians identified as Emily Agyemang, 35, Emmanuel Essilfie, 28, and Kingsley Owusu, 37, who created shell companies and bank accounts to facilitate the transfer of funds.

It has been alleged that Ohene Kwame Frimpong received a first payment in April 2021, amounting to $29,284.

Gossips24 further detailed that the MP allegedly received $284,865 on March 10, 2022, while another $75,631 was reportedly wired into his account.

On August 12, 2022, the FBI further alleged that $331,000 was transferred into the MP’s account from Ohio.

The documents sighted by Gossips24 alleged that the syndicate defrauded victims of a total of $215 million since it began operating.

Meanwhile, Amanda Clinton, the Legal practitioner, has weighed in on the arrest of Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, in the Netherlands.

The Legal practitioner argued that Interpol and other international security agencies did not share information with the Ghana government regarding the Asante Akyem North due to trust issues.

She disclosed that if the international law enforcement agencies trusted the Ghanaian government, there would have been an extradition process.

Speaking in an interview on JoyNews on May 13, 2026, Amanda Clinton stated, “It absolutely sends a signal to this government and to any future government that international law enforcement agencies perhaps did not trust the Ghanaian government enough to share information that they ordinarily should have shared. If there had been trust, we would have seen something like an extradition process.

“That is the concern from international agencies. The fact that they did not work in collaboration with the Ghanaian government to naturally expose this matter, and instead allowed him to board a flight after gathering all that information, rather than sharing it with the Ghanaian authorities for them to decide whether they agreed or whether they were going to extradite him, speaks volumes,” she said.

Amanda Clinton highlighted that the actions of Interpol and other international agencies raise serious questions about confidence in Ghana’s security institutions.

She added, “It says a lot about the ongoing conversation surrounding whether governments effectively deal with politically exposed persons and individuals in authority. If they fail to handle such matters effectively, then this is the kind of international embarrassment we will continue to face”.

Lady narrates how she was allegedly drugged in a club amid SoAfrican arrest

0

A Ghanaian lady has narrated how she and a friend were allegedly drugged during an outing at Republic in Osu.

In a Facebook post on May 13, 2026, the lady, identified on social media as Nkunim Abena Owusua, narrated, “My friends and I (me included, making 5) went to the Republic in Osu.

We were just chilling and vibing when 1 of them (Akosua) went to the bar to get ginger shots.

I realised she was taking too long, so I went in there to fetch her

Upon arrival, I saw her engaging in a conversation with 2 strangers (males – 1 on her left and the other on her right)

I walked in and said, ” Chalee, let’s go … we took the shots right at the bar and we’re back to join our friends

A few minutes later, Akosua started feeling nauseous and threw up … we realised there was a tablet/pill in her puke

She then called her bf to meet her up (she ended up in Nyaho that night)

Me on the other hand, am a naturally hyper girl and was so hyped

Friends around me thought – Oh, Saa na ote3

We left the Republic when Akosua left, and I went to Mood Bar with 2 of my male friends.

Apparently, I was dancing on tables and all.

Loud and extremely bubbly (my colleague bartenders there assumed I was just being my bubbly self)

I got a ride home, and I didn’t remember how I got home

The next morning, a client had asked her driver to pick up her food orders from me

A call woke me up n as soon as I opened the door for the driver, I PASSED OUT

The driver rushed me to the LAPAZ COMMUNITY HOSPITAL- Christian Village

Fortunately, my Doctor was on duty that morning (Dr Pascal), who instructed that I’m his patient n has never been to the hospital in this condition, so they rushed me to the emergency ward

That’s where it was confirmed I was drugged, and they started flushing my system

About 12 drips

So those MODAFUCKERS blaming these victims who have been drugged and se*ually assaulted by SoAfrican no and calling them “gold diggers*

Mo y3 nkwasiafour”.

She further added in another post, “This issue I posted earlier … I went to report ooo

It got complicated, and I let it slide

What I found out is ….

What some of these guys (the ones who were engaging my friends and the likes) do is

They go to lounges, clubs, pubs, parties, etc

Some are contracted by “Big Men” to bring them girls

Light Skinned, Dark Skinned, etc

So some of these girls end up not found (go missing)

They take videos and pictures of the girls unknowingly and send them to their “BIG MEN”, and they choose

Spike drinks with the girls (nice, nice girls) while engaging them in conversations, hoping you drink in their presence

When they see it take effect… they walk you out like you both are vibing and going home together

I think they thought my friend was alone that night until I walked in

It could have been worse, but we thank God for life!”

Her revelation follows the arrest of SoAfrican, a popular Ghanaian social media influencer, identified as Joshua Kojo Anane Boateng, who has been arrested for recording and sharing non-consensual intimate images of women.

His arrest follows a joint intelligence-led operation by the Cyber Crime Unit and the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI).

On Tuesday, May 12, the Director-General of the CID, Commissioner of Police Lydia Yaako Donkor, briefed the media and revealed that the suspect operated on the Telegram platform known as “VIP Sleep Fetish 2025”.

She disclosed that the suspect used alprazolam, known as Xanax, to drug unsuspecting female victims before sexually abusing them, adding that he later recorded the acts and shared the content online without their consent.

The CID boss detailed that the suspect also frequented nightclubs in 2025, where he allegedly sedated and sexually assaulted victims before disseminating their intimate images.

She disclosed that following his arrest, police retrieved several items, including two iPhones, a feature phone, a memory card, a Seagate external hard drive, a MacBook laptop, an iSafe device, and empty sachets believed to have contained alprazolam and midazolam.

She further added that the suspect has been arraigned before the court, while investigations are ongoing.

“If Mahama fails, the embarrassment will be on all of us” – Asiedu Nketia to NDC members

0

Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reminded party members to unite behind President John Mahama government to ensure its success and to protect the image of the party.

According to Asiedu Nketia, President Mahama’s fortunes are tied to the NDC’s future success in the next election, reminding party members that if Mahama fails, the embarrassment will be on all of them.

He stressed that the failure of the Mahama administration would not be blamed on Mahama alone but on the entire party.

Asiedu Nketia urged party faithful to remain committed to the ideals of the party and contribute positively toward the government’s agenda.

Speaking during his “Thank You Tour” in the East Gonja Constituency on Thursday, May 14, the NDC Chairman

“Our party members who supported the party to power, we have three years to the end of the tenure of the Mahama government. We need to support the government to succeed,” he said.

“If Mahama fails, the embarrassment will be on all of us; Mahama will not only take the fall, but all of us. We need to support the government’s agenda with all our strength for it to succeed for the betterment of the people,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy General Secretary for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), has dropped an explosive bombshell concerning the relationship between the John Mahama government and the NDC party.

According to Mustapha Gbande, the relationship between the NDC and the John Mahama government is not the best.

He disclosed that since the NDC won back power, the relationship between the party and the government has been strained.

Speaking on Channel 1 TV, Mustapha Gbande stated, “The last time I checked, the national chairman said he was doing his thank-you tour. My opinion has always been that we could have done it together, but the national chairman is doing it because everyone is busy doing something else.

As stakeholders, since we won elections, the relationship between the party and the government hasn’t been the best, and it is not about jobs. I am saying the relationship between the party and the government to ensure that we succeed together has not been the best”.

Mustapha Gbande acknowledged that the strained relationship may not be deliberate since the government had a lot to do after taking over power,

He, however, stressed that the danger is that they are leaving the party behind, and as the officer in charge of operations, “I am concerned that we have to go back into conclave and assess what we have done and what we have not done so that we move,” he said.

Mustapha Gbande stressed that some elders of the political party have decided to be silent, which is not a good thing for the party.

“We have elders of the party, and we need to run back to them because they have decided to keep quiet, and that is dangerous for every political party. So should want to bring everybody back, sit as a party and government, move concurrently and make sure we succeed together,” he stated.

“You don’t have the authority to install chiefs” – Asantehene tells House of Chiefs

0

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has boldly told the National House of Chiefs they do not have the authority to install chiefs.

According to the Asantehene, the power to install chiefs is solely with traditional councils.

The Asantehene further cautioned against the politicisation of elections within the National House of Chiefs, calling on stakeholders to protect the integrity of the chieftaincy institution.

Addressing the Parliamentary Select Committee on Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs at the Manhyia Palace on Tuesday, May 13, 2026, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II stated, “What everybody must note is that the House of Chiefs cannot install chiefs. They don’t have that authority. It is the traditional council that does”.

He further called on Parliament and the relevant authorities to give clarity regarding the role of the various Houses of Chiefs. relating to enstoolment and recognition of chiefs.

In related news,  Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has government appointees against using political power to interfere in chieftaincy matters.

According to the Otumfuo, power is transient, and government appointees must stay out of chieftaincy matters.

The Outumfuo expressed concern over disregard for judicial decisions in communities such as Sampa, Nkyeraa, Amantim, and parts of Asante Akyem, where rival claimants continue to assert authority.

Speaking at a meeting of the Asanteman Council on Monday, April 20, 2026, Otumfuo stated, “Your government is in power, so you think you can do whatever you please. Know that power is transient. Of course, you can go ahead and use that power for whatever you want now”.

“There is a court ruling in favour of Amantimhene, yet someone is exerting his authority as chief, resisting the legitimate chief. The same is taking place in Nkyeraa, which has been adopted as a Divisional Council in the House of Chiefs,” he said.

Otumfuo added, “Despite court rulings, an Ivorian is in Sampa carrying himself out as a royal and chief. Sampahene Gyafla will not die. The town belongs to him, and he will assume his rightful authority.”

He further recounted the legacy of historic figures such as Tweneboa Koduah and Yaa Asantewaa. Otumfuo urged traditional leaders to defend the dignity of the kingdom.

“Why are our men sitting aloof for two people in Bono to misbehave? You are all waiting for Otumfuo to act. We are all silent. You want to protect your names… Now we have all turned into women,” he added.

Earlier in 2025, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II warned the Bono Regional Minister Joseph Addae Akwaboa for allegedly using his political position to meddle in the chieftaincy affairs.

According to the Asantehene, he will not allow anyone to use politics to meddle in chieftaincy issues.

Joseph Addae Akwaboa has been accused of meddling in Sampa chieftaincy affairs.

The Otumfuo highlighted that the Bono Regional Minister, who had served as a lawyer in the Sampa chieftaincy case, which has been resolved, is now using his political position to meddle in the issue.

Speaking to members of the council on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the final Asanteman Council meeting of the year at the Manhyia Palace, the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II stated, “I don’t hate anyone, but I will not allow anyone to use politics to meddle in chieftaincy issues”.

“The regional minister was a lawyer in the case, and the issue has already been settled, so I don’t know why he is still talking about it,” Otumfuo added.

Joana Quaye moves to freeze RNAQ’s multi-million assets

0

Mrs. Joana Quaye, the ex-wife of Ghanaian businessman and self-acclaimed billionaire Richard Nii Armah Quaye (RNAQ), has filed an application for injunction at the Divorce and Matrimonial Division of the High Court in Accra seeking to restrain him from selling, transferring, disposing of or in any way alienating shares in a long list of companies, luxury vehicles, and expensive properties until an appeal over their divorce settlement is finally determined.

The embattled ex-wife of RNAQ is asking the court to temporarily ‘freeze’ the disputed assets and shares owned by the couple in various companies acquired during the course of the marriage  in order to prevent the businessman from disposing of them before the Court of Appeal decides whether she is entitled to a larger share of the wealth acquired during their marriage.

Contribution to formation of business

In an explosive affidavit in support of an application filed on her behalf by Dame & Partners, her new lawyers, Joana Quaye narrates a relationship stretching back to 2002 when both parties had just completed secondary school, eventually culminating in marriage in 2010. She claims she sacrificed her education, worked multiple jobs, and financially supported Richard Nii Armah Quaye’s studies and early entrepreneurial ambitions including funding that  contributed to the birth of Quick Credit Company Limited, now Bills Micro-Credit. Relying on documents she had earlier tendered at the trial as exhibits, Joana Quaye indicated that in anticipation of their marriage, she opened a joint account with RNAQ at SG-SSB Ltd and subsequently, jointly invested the funds from that account in an investment transaction operated by Data Bank Ltd. This investment matured and was redeemed by the couple in 2008 and was given to RNAQ who utilised it to fund his travel to the United Kingdom in 2008 to pursue further education in Accounting.

According to Joana Quaye, when RNAQ returned from the UK the following year in 2009, he was unemployed. They started exploring means of setting up a business for him. She closed her personal bank account by withdrawing all her savings and they used same as seed money to start a micro-finance enterprise in 2010 – the same year in which they got married – which the couple named Quick Credit, within six months after the Respondent had returned from the UK. Joana Quaye

History of ownership of shares in companies

Joana Quaye further stated that a year after they had gotten married, in 2011, they jointly set up a company called Quick Micro Credit and Investment Limited (unilaterally renamed Bills Micro Credit by RNAQ subsequently). Together with RNAQ, she was an original shareholder in Quick Micro Credit and Investment Limited. She was also, together with RNAQ, the only two directors of the company. According to Joana Quaye, without her knowledge or consent, RNAQ altered the records of the company by removing Joana Quaye as both director and shareholder of the company around 2021. Mrs. Quaye alleges that RNAQ admitted this under cross-examination in the course of the trial of the divorce case. In her view, therefore, the “conclusions of the learned judge were arbitrary, discriminatory and a complete departure from the principles governing the equitable distribution of marital property upon the dissolution of marriage”. According to her, all assets acquired in the subsistence of marriage, including shares in companies, are martial property liable to be “distributed equitably, irrespective of whether there was an agreement between the parties or not.”

The application lists an eye-popping catalogue of disputed assets, including shareholding interests in Quick Credit, Quick Angels, Waterfall Engineering, Tigon Entertainment, Ridge Medical Centre, CEQA Foods, and several other companies. Also named are luxury homes at Trasacco Estates, East Legon, Dansoman, and Mamprobi, alongside a fleet of high-end vehicles including a Rolls Royce Phantom, Bentley Coupe, Mercedes Benz G-Wagon, Range Rover Vogue, Range Rover Velar, and Lexus 4×4.  Joana Quaye argues that these assets were acquired during the subsistence of the marriage and therefore ought to be equitably distributed. She seeks to restrain RNAQ from disposing or transferring them before the final determination of her appeal.

Justification for freeze of RNAQ’s shares in other companies

Mrs. Quaye contends that the formation of Quick Credit by the couple and their joint ownership of shares in that company was “the springboard for RNAQ’s wealth and acquisition of various properties by him”. According to her, RNAQ used Quick Credit and Quick Angels to acquire other companies. He also “deployed the companies as a vehicle for the acquisition of various immovable and movable properties”. She claimed that most of the vehicles acquired during the marriage are in the name of companies owned by RNAQ and other companies which are in turn owned by companies set up during the subsistence of the marriage.

Mrs. Quaye urges the court that there is a pressing need for the court to restrain RNAQ from disposing of the assets because he has demonstrated an ability to unlawfully transfer assets acquired during marriage. She cites his act in transferring her shares in Quick Credit Limited, without her knowledge, as an example, emphasising that she became aware only when RNAQ admitted this fact under cross-examination in court

Joana Quaye accuses the businessman of having caused the breakdown of the marriage through “unbridled cheating with many women” and that she suffered severe physical violence during the marriage. She further alleges that complaints she lodged with the Ghana Police Service never saw the “light of day” due to interference by powerful persons allegedly acting on behalf of the RNAQ. In another bombshell claim, she states that the RNAQ currently lives in the Trasacco residence with another woman whom she describes as one of several girlfriends maintained during the marriage.

Unfairness and violations by the trial judge

The affidavit of Mrs Quaye also raises serious procedural and constitutional questions about the original divorce judgment delivered on the 20th January 2026. According to Joana Quaye, the full written judgment was unavailable for more than three months and only surfaced after her constitutional right of appeal had expired. She argues that there appeared to be “two versions” of the judgment, one containing the final orders and another containing the reasons for the orders released  after the expiry of the three-month period within which she was entitled to appeal, a situation she says violated her constitutional rights. She laments that if her new lawyers, Dame & Partners, had not promptly appealed when the full judgment was not available, she would have suffered irremediable damage.

Joana Quaye is asking the High Court to preserve all the contested assets pending appeal, warning that any transfer or disposal of the properties could cause irreparable injustice and leave her with an “empty legal shell” even if she eventually wins the appeal.

The high-profile dispute is expected to ignite national debate about marital property, women’s contribution to wealth creation in marriages, and the extent to which spouses are entitled to fortunes built during long-term relationships.

“We want the youths to take key leadership positions” – Dr Bawumia ‘sweet-talks’ NPP Youths

0

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has told the NPP youth wing to prepare for leadership as the party work to regain power in 2028.

According to Dr Bawumia, they want their youth wing to take up key leadership positions.

Speaking at a meeting with student leaders ahead of a three-day boot camp organised by the NPP, Dr Bawumia stated, “I want you to be assured that this training program is for your benefit because we want the youth to take key leadership positions”.

“And we cannot get you into key leadership positions if we don’t prepare you for the uptake of these leadership positions,” he added.

The former Vice President expressed confidence that the NPP could return to government in 2028.

He stated, “2028, Inshallah, it is going to happen in 2028. It is possible. It is possible. And we are going to work towards it”.

“We are not going to sit down and say it will happen, but we are going to work,” he said.

Dr Bawumia added, “The youth will take over the key positions as we move forward in this country. You know that the vote is largely youth-dominated. 2028, as it was in 2024, will be a youth-dominated election”.

The NPP presidential candidate further announced plans to increase the party’s engagement with the Tertiary Students Confederacy of the New Patriotic Party (TESCON).

Dr Bawumia disclosed that he will visit several campuses in the coming years to present the NPP’s ideas and vision.

He added, “We will take the debate, the ideas to the country, and we will make our case”.

“We are, however, saying that we will not be intimidated. You can arrest all of us. We will come back and make our case to the people of Ghana,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Dr Jonathan Asante Otchere, a Political analyst, has labelled the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s decision to appoint his rivals in the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearership race to co-chair key policy committees as a massive stroke.

His remarks follow, the NPP flagbearer who has appointed all four of his former rivals in the party’s presidential primaries as co-chairmen of newly established NPP policy committees.

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum

4. Co-Chair of Housing and Urban Development Policy Committee — Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong”

“It is ironic to see Bawumia now championing free speech” – Franklin Cudjoe

0

Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has launched a scathing attack on the NPP Presidential Candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, following his statement condemning the arrests and detention of NPP officials, activists, and supporters.

His comments follow, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former vice president and NPP presidential candidate, who has launched a fierce attack on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government following the relentless harassment, arrests, and detention of NPP officials, activists, and supporters.

MahamaCares will not replace NHIS – Administrator

0

Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, also known as MahamaCares, has clarified the fund’s role in health care delivery.

According to Adjoa Obuobia, the MahamaCares will not replace the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) but will only complement it.

She highlighted that MahamaCares is structured to work alongside the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Thursday, May 14, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku stated, “Let me state clearly that the Ghana Medical Trust Fund complements the National Health Insurance; we simply do not duplicate them”.

“The work of the National Health Insurance is a fundamental health financing insurance scheme, and what the Ghana Medical Trust Fund does is make interventions. So they are two different things. So the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, on the other hand, has much broader and more specialised work to do,” she explained.

Also, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku has stated that the MahhamaCares will not support patients seeking medical treatment outside Ghana.

She revealed that the Mahama Cares fund has recently come under increasing pressure, with persons appealing for funding to seek treatment abroad.

Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku disclosed that the governing law that established the Fund restricts its mandate to supporting free treatment for non-communicable diseases in Ghana.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series on Monday, May 11, she said, “There is something that we keep getting. Many people want funding to go abroad. Let me announce here, and now, we do not support any funding out of the borders of this country.

“That money that we spend for one patient to go to India for treatment, we can use that for about 20 patients in the country. Anything beyond the borders as stipulated in the Act is beyond us,” she said.

Meanwhile, for one to benefit from support under the Trust Fund, an applicant must meet three basic eligibility requirements.

The applicant must be a Ghanaian citizen, an active NHIS card bearer, and must have a medical condition that falls within the approved conditions supported under the Fund.

In 2025, John Dramani Mahama officially launched the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, also known as The MahamaCares.

The landmark initiative aimed at providing financial assistance to individuals living with chronic diseases across the country.

The Fund seeks to cover the cost of care and medication for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) not currently included under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Over 3,000 EPA staff recruited without proper financial clearance – Annoh-Dompreh blows alarm

0

Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Minority Chief Whip, has blown an alarm concerning the recruitment of over 3,000 contract staff at the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).

According to Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP, over 3,000 EPA staff were recruited without proper financial clearance contrary to public financial management procedures.

He further alleged that the newly recruited workers have also suffered drastic salary cuts.

Frank Annoh Dompreh, in an open letter to President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday, made these allegations known.

The minority chief whip stated, “Over 3,000 persons were reportedly recruited as contract staff at a time when the Authority did not yet have a properly constituted Governing Board”.

Annoh Dompreh further alleged that the appointment letters issued to some recruits placed them on salary levels above existing officers, including senior technical staff and management personnel.

He alleged that some recruits were placed directly into senior staff positions “without adherence to established recruitment procedures, grading structures, or career progression requirements within the public service framework.”

“Subsequent financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance covered only approximately 500 positions, leaving a large number of previously engaged contract personnel without a clear legal or fiscal regularisation pathway,” he stated.

The Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP further alleged that workers who accepted employment offers at the EPA are now facing severe salary reductions.

“Young Ghanaians were recruited through a transparent process, with contractual salaries clearly defined by rank, ranging from GHS 8,000 to GHS 12,000 and up to GHS 14,000,” he said.

“Just months into their probation, these same individuals have been blindsided. Their salaries have been unilaterally slashed to between GHS 3,000 and GHS 4,000, a reduction of nearly 70%.”

He stated, “Those who resigned from their teaching posts cannot return since their former positions have been filled. They are now trapped, earning less than junior clerks, yet overqualified for alternatives”.

“The message being sent is terrifying, that in Ghana, a signed employment contract is not worth the paper it is written on,” he stressed.

In related news, Prof Henry Kwasi Prempeh, the Chairman of the Constitutional Review Committee, has fumed over Ghana’s practice of paying retired public officials salaries.

According to Prof Prempeh, Ghana must scrap the payment of salaries to retired public officials.

Prof Prempeh described the practise as ridiculous, questioning which country in the world pays salaries to retirees.

In a Facebook post on March 17, 2026, Prof Prempeh wrote, “We must scrap the ‘retirement on salary’ compensation practices in our public sector. Do we know any other place in the world where this sort of thing happens as commonly as it does here? We are just ridiculous!”

“Can Ghana also arrange the arrest of a US Congressman?” – Vormawor fumes over detention of Ghanaian MP abroad

0

Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a Social activist and private legal practitioner, has expressed his displeasure with the following the detention of Asante Akim North MP, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, in the Netherlands.

Vormawor argued that Ghana’s officials cannot be plucked away in traps set abroad.

According to him, the United States envoy to Ghana must be summoned following the detention of Asante Akim North MP in the Netherlands.

Oliver Barker-Vormawor further questioned whether Ghana can also arrange the arrest of a US Congressman under such circumstances.

In a post on X, Barker-Vormawor wrote, “If the news that the MP was arrested at the request of the US Government is true, I think we need to summon the US envoy immediately.

If they withheld critical information from our intelligence services and laid traps outside for our officials, then I think it is unacceptable.

We are a sovereign nation that must be treated with respect. Our Public officials cannot be plucked away in traps set abroad. Without so much as the courtesy of prior communication.

Are we sure we could arrange the arrest of a US Congressman under such circumstances?

What kind of partnership informs our being treated with so much disrespect! First Ofori-Atta, now this?

They have more to lose, if they continue like this.”Meanwhile, the parliament of Ghana has confirmed that the member of parliament for Asante Akyem North, Kwame Ohene Frimpong, has been detained at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
